  1. I got 4 cabs in total, a Sega New Astro City, Capcom Impress, Capcom Status 18, and a Jaleco Pony Mark III, unfortunately 2 of them need work (Impress and Pony) other than that I'm pretty happy gaming mostly in the New Astro City, I got Super Street Fighter II Turbo hooked by default.
  2. For me 2020 was a little bit weak music-wise, had high hopes on some of the releases by bands I like but most ended up being letdowns, so most albums I enjoyed were from bands I hadn't listened before: Gum Country - Somewhere Fuzzy guitars & krautrock-like percussions held together by catchy pop melodies. Peel Dream Magazine - Agitprop Alterna Drone shoegaze with a pop kind of feel, reminds me of classic My Bloody Valentine. Strum & Thrum: The American Jangle Underground 1983-1987 Released 2020, it has some really good tunes from pretty much unknown bands.
  3. Nice, did you do any pot adjustments at all? I bet you can easily get the image centered and stretched correctly.
  4. A few years ago I purchased online a 10 game SNES lot already priced well below market value, what was special about it was that the lot consisted in late SNES releases, I don't remember exactly what 10 titles it included but in 10 pictures it showed 10 different carts and it was stuff like Captain Commando, International Superstar Soccer Deluxe, Super Turrican 2, Castlevania Dracula X (this is the kind of stuff you'd get if you got into SNES late like in '96, at least here in Mexico). Anyways the seller is unexperienced so I walk him though the process of the online sale and all that, and he mentions that he could only show 10 carts as that was the max number of pictures allowed in the listing but actually he was going to send me a total of 12 carts, I thanked him and tried my best to avoid talking about the games to avoid drawing any attention to them, instead I focused on the shipping which he did the following day to my relief. The lot already looked like one of my best finds so the extra games didn't really matter, so imagine my surprise when I pulled an Aero Fighters from the package!
  5. Mine would be Street Fighter II, played it intensively for months when we got our SNES on Christmas, adjustable difficulty made me beat the game many times until I got to max difficulty, then the challenge was to beat it without losing a single round which took a while, beat it a few times on the arcade as well, then a few more times for a NA SNES Contest a few years ago, so yeah, nothing else comes close.
  6. My daughter is 6 years old (turning 7 next month) and just couldn't find something she really enjoyed playing co-op but she has low frustration tolerance, what worked best for us was Zelda games with me controlling the action and she giving suggestions on what to do, we've beaten Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild, it was until Ocarina of Time when she could pick up the controller and do some exploration/combat on her own, unfortunately it's not in the consoles you're looking for but if you're open to it give it a try. Some other suggestions that could work: SMB3 Bubble Bobble Life Force (use Konami code) Guerrilla War (infinite continues if I recall correctly) TMNT IV & Hyperstone Heist as suggested by @Webhead123 Other good co-op beat'em ups like Final Fight 2/3 & Streets of Rage series Any version of Street Fighter II to play in Vs. mode Secret of Mana
  7. I don't have pictures, but a lot of arcade stuff I've found has been incredible dirty, most of that stuff has been neglected for 20+ years so it makes sense, I've literally asked sellers if they've dug out their stuff, that's how dirty it gets sometimes, usually they're selling for dirty cheap so I don't mind too much. Next time I'll take some pictures when I'm about to clean something.
  8. Phantasy Star 4 - Unbeaten Completed: 8/28 My rating: 7/10 Mega Man 5 - Unbeaten Breath of the Wild 2 - Unbeaten (if it comes out next year) That's it, I'll try to stick to my choices and report any progress, have fun everyone!
  9. Yeah there are some high end multimeters that can read caps, you'd have to desolder them as well so no other components interfere with the reading. I just thought about something, why you don't swap these caps to the other board that is failing? Just to see if this will solve the problem.
  10. Following the 3 digit notation, first and second digit are the value, and the 3rd is the multiplier, it's odd to have zeroes at the beginning but I believe these would be equivalent: 019 = 108 025 = 204 http://kiloohm.info/3-digit-capacitor/019 http://kiloohm.info/3-digit-capacitor/025
  11. Maybe ask here for help identifying those, it's an arcade help repair group, lots of knowledgeable folks there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1677337495815647 Also what is the exact model of the buffer chips? By looking at the pinout and where these caps were soldered it could be easier to deduce what they were trying to fix.
  12. Renting video games during the late 80s early 90s would very often put you in the situation were you were stuck with a disappointing game for a few days, my brother and I rented a lot of NES games just by looking at the cover art, and as you know it was pretty hit or miss, anyways maybe because of Dick Tracy I thought the cover art of Deja Vu for the NES was cool enough so I brought it home hoping it was some sort of cool action game lol So I got greeted by the noir narrative and first person point and click screen, I was likely 10 or 11 years old, being that I'm not a native English speaker meant that the storyline was difficult to follow, a bit disappointed but that's the game I picked up so I kept playing, the interface was not totally unfamiliar thanks to having played Goonies II before, and things started to get interesting as there were plenty of things to pick up, secret doors, several keys that unlocked different things, an underground casino where I won some money, ride a cab to the address written in that note that was in that drawer only to get taken to an entirely new location to explore, in the end up enjoying it way more than I thought, I even went as far to ask my father (M.D.) what those medicines found in the game were for, he was kind of baffled I was asking about a barbiturate (Sodium Pentothal) among other things and had to explain those were the medicines found in the game. It ended up being my favorite point and click game of all time, and in a way it kind of pushed me towards RPGs as I was no longer intimidated by big walls of text in English.
  13. Nice video explaining how things got out of hand with the Pokémon cards. Seems like a mirror image of what the video game market has been going though.
  14. Played it a little bit not too long ago with my oldest daughter (first 4 or 5 stars), I'm not the biggest fan of 3-D Mario games but I liked it so far, haven't played it enough to rate it so let's see if I can convince my daughter to play it some more.
  15. Honestly I've tried or would be willing to try just about anything mentioned so far but this thing might be too much. Are you supposed to eat it like that out of the can? Perhaps with some cream cheese it might be somewhat passable.
  16. Magic The Gathering Online by far, basically I found a way to develop simple buy/sell bots when everyone thought it was impossible to do such a thing, got several thousand dollars out of that, must've been over 10k easily maybe even 15k, the money helped pay for collage at the time so definitively got much more out of it.
  17. I always thought Rock Man was the better name, sister is Roll, Proto Man is actually Blues, and other characters making reference to music, plus the games have a rocking sound track. Actually the Mega Man name is way too close to Mega Drive, I guess Nintendo regretted the name change, probably the reason the series remained on the NES/Famicom exclusively for a long time.
  18. @avatar!yes there are efforts to distribute the products evenly, but if supply isn't enough some people will miss out and some people who bought the product will rather take the extra money offered by those who missed out and are willing to pay more, scalping will still occur but there will be a larger amount of sellers with little product each instead of just a few sellers who somehow hoarded up a good chunk of the production. Seems that what bothers most is when a few resellers show up with a lot of product, I think in general most companies will try to avoid that situation and offer some sort of system to allow you to preorder anything you want, or at least do their best to keep them available in the store shelves.
  19. You can hardly do anything about it, even if there are laws against it scarcity will mean people will still miss out unless they're willing to go to extraordinary lengths or otherwise get lucky, furthermore if somehow by law prices cannot be increased then there's less incentive to sell, there will be less sellers willing to sell at a low price compared to buyers willing to buy, it wouldn't take long for buyers and sellers to find ways to circumvent the restrictions, for example sellers could bundle the item with other crap they want to sell, or buyers could start bribing sellers effectively bringing the price up where it should be, there's just no effective way to control this besides increasing the supply.
  20. One thing you can count on is that when supply doesn't meet the demand the market will adjust so both supply and demand reach an equilibrium, the same happens when demand doesn't meet the supply, prices get slashed until they reach the equilibrium point, this will happen naturally and basically any attempt to implement any sort of control like prohibiting reselling for example will result in the costs being translated elsewhere, it will mean buyers probably have to wait in line for hours to be able to purchase a "hot" item, then there would be people that would be willing to pay someone to wait in line for them because their time might be more valuable to them so everyone is in fact paying above retail value one way or another. How to effectively avoid this situation? Producers should increase the supply, it's a delicate matter since they better be sure they're not overproducing, but they should ramp up the production if it's obvious there's enough demand to justify it.
  21. Hard to tell, anyone can just download the prototype and burn the files to a DVD-R, they didn't even burn it properly in this case so it won't work on a PS2, you'd need load the BIN/CUE files in the DVD burning software for it to actually work. I think what happened is that this prototype was ripped as BIN/CUE and distributed online, the actual physical copy probably never surfaced. Here's another idea, there's some software that will read media manufacture info (that is the manufacturer of the DVD-R media), I think the one I used was called Nero CD-DVD Speed, you can probably get enough info to determine when this actual disc got manufactured.
  22. It was an 8 for me, controls were a problem at the beginning but with practice they got better so it ended up not being a negative aspect for me, however the constant fetch quests and later silent realms got boring quickly and Fi was a little annoying too, but I enjoyed basically everything else, the best parts for me were the dungeons, bosses were fine but some a little annoying, art style and story were also good, overall not perfect but it is definitively worth playing.
  23. I've considered playing this one and got a similar taste in FF games so I'm interested in your impressions. I had someone recommend it to me a long time ago when he started playing it (when it was new basically), then somewhere halfway in his playthrough he retracted his recommendation, I don't know what's up with this game that many players seem to lose interest halfway though.
  24. Tecmo Cup Soccer for the NES was originally a Famicom Captain Tsubasa game. Whomp'em is another Famicom game reskinned for the american market. Other examples of Famicom games reskinned for the American market that I can think of are Krion Conquest and Totally Rad.
