  1. That would make no sense, maybe not you but plenty of people would be willing to buy the first version of a new console and willing to buy new games, don't release the console for 2-3 years and a good chunk of your potential buyers will go with the competition. If you don't want to buy the first version of a new console that's fine, but a bunch of people are willing to do so, so it just makes sense to release it.
  2. No, they get the benefit of using the console 1-2 years earlier, even if the price drops substantially, for many it's still going to be worth it being able to have it early.
  3. I'd try this: Wii Component Video output -> Open Source Scan Converter -> HDMI https://www.retrorgb.com/ossc.html
  4. Basically eBay is broken by having fixed end times for auctions, that makes sniping the most effective strategy, undoubtedly giving you the best chance to win. Compare to Yahoo Auctions Japan, they've addressed this by extending the end time by 5-6 minutes if a bid is placed in the last 5-6 minutes, auctions can be extended indefinitely to allow a bid war at the end, while not good for buyers this is better for business as items tend to sell for higher prices and that means more commission for the auction site and more money/incentive for the sellers.
  5. Yeah, a few people voted for them, I know it wasn't a poll or counting votes or anything so that's fair, anyways I guess we'll do SP some other time.
  6. That's fine, kinda feel disappointed but let's move on
  7. How come Smashing Pumpkins is not this week artist?
  8. Watched 29/100 (actually 30 but I'm not counting The Last Jedi as I was dragged to the cinema via a company event and literally fell asleep halfway though, the couch was comfy and my Star Wars knowledge/interest is slim). Not really go out of my way to watch films but my wife and I would go though the Oscar nominated film lists each year and watch some of those, on the list there are some I've wanted to watch for some time but haven't for one reason or another, and of course as a parent I've seen all Pixar films
  9. Yes undoubtedly one of the most prominent rock bands during the 90s, as a fan I always felt that after the breakup things were never going to be the same, personally after Zeitgeist I gradually began to lose interest, I stuck with the old albums but then again I noticed I'd often skip some of their songs when they came up in my playlist so I began removing a few, then some more, then realized I was not a big fan anymore, that being said Siamese Dream has the potential to become an all time classic rock album.
  10. We have to do Smashing Pumpkins at some point and they were formerly my favorite band so I'll also vote to have them next week. Not a fan of metal but I'm going to try to listen to Gojira tomorrow and vote.
  11. Colorless version is fine, DX seems like the better of the 2 games but gives out more hints to the players essentially removing the challenge in a few puzzles, I cannot remember specific examples but some hints flat out tell the player exactly what to do, other than that the DX version is better.
  12. I had both and I'd definitively would pick the 2nd one, first one is a launch title and understandably feels a little rough, 2nd one is a much more polished game.
  13. Link's Awakening for sure, Pokemon first generation, Super Mario Land 2 Donkey Kong Land series, Metroid II, Final Fantasy Legend II (3rd one is OK but 2nd is the best), Final Fantasy Adventure.
  14. If you have friends to play with I'd say Super Street Fighter II Turbo (or some other SF2 iteration), always exciting to play and watch even, more so if your skill level is more or less equal, never gets old for me.
  15. Analog video will die out, there are simply not good enough consumer level analog video formats to keep them around. I would assume we'll be getting better and better solutions to plug our old consoles in modern LCD TVs that the demand for top of the line CRT TVs will drop even further. CRTs TVs are ridiculously plentiful, most of you have been getting them for free nowadays, they're very reliable and even if they fail they can be repaired, I really cannot imagine suddenly becoming desirable again in general.
  16. Hello everyone, it's been a long time since I shipped anything to Canada via registered airmail, I stopped shipping that way because packages were taking around 45 days and they became untrackable, I think China pretty much flooded Canada Post so delays were long and stopped tracking regular registered packages as some sort of measure so that shipping method became useless for eBay sales. Anyways I have a bunch of extra KoF99 and 2000 carts lying around and want to ship one to Canada via registered airmail to see how it goes, any member of the arcade club willing to accept a gift? I'll offer it here in the arcade club before I offer it in the forums, let me know if anybody is interested.
  17. I have a few you're looking for: https://www.ebay.com/sch/videogamesmx/m.html I got more but not currently listed for sale, can confirm I got extras for Garou Mark of the Wolves, KoF 98 and Blazing Star, and I might have Metal Slug 1, SSII & Bust a Move (Puzzle Bobble).
  18. There's a 15% eBay coupon but looks like it could be for use in Latin America only, anybody willing to try it out? It says coupon can be used though the app only, PM me if you want to try it out, don't want to post it until it's confirmed to be working for everyone.
  19. Lakitu from SMB, also that big fish in SMB3 that chases you all the time, and the sun that tries to kill you, those are the ones that come to mind.
  20. Super Mario Bros. - While I had seen video games before, my very first console was a NES and of course this came with it. The legend of Zelda - The reason I asked for a NES in the first place was to play this game. Super Mario Bros. 3 - Rented it over many times, played this for hours with my family. Mega Man 3 - Favorite Mega Man, the jaw dropping moment after defeating the 8 robot masters is one of my most memorable video game related memories. Street Fighter II - Became obsessed with this, played on the arcade, then on the SNES with my brother since the day we got it for Christmas. Super Mario Kart - Played long days after my brother and I got it around Christmas along with our SNES. TLOZ A Link to the Past - Loved Zelda, first text heavy game I finished on my own (English is my 2nd language). Mortal Kombat II - I played this a ton at the arcades, unlike SF2 I was able to hold on my own Vs other good players. TLOZ Link's Awakening - For the longest time I've considered this my favorite Zelda game. Final Fantasy III - Absolutely mind-blowing, I hadn't experienced anything like this before, this is my favorite game of all time. Chrono Trigger - Absolutely fantastic, time-travel, multiple endings, lovable characters, I only wish it were longer. Killer Instinct - The hype for the Nintendo Ultra 64 went through the roof after this. Final Fantasy 7 - We all know the story, Square went with Sony and the N64 was not as powerful as shown in the arcades so I picked up the Playstation to play FF7. Castlevania Symphony of the Night - I liked Castlevania games but this was something else, Castlevania with RPG elements? A+++ Final Fantasy 8 - The last game I invested a good amount of time before taking a long hiatus from video games, I got bored with it at around the 3rd disc, one day was the last day I played it without realizing it, after that I took a long break from video games but eventually I was drawn back because of my interest in retro gaming.
  21. I haven't bought from JJ Games but I would assume you'd get the pictured item or else they would get plenty of unsatisfied buyers. Out of curiosity, what happens if you try to purchase it again? I'd imagine it would stop you at a certain pint during the checkout, some sites are like that, they take some time to update their front end but when you try to checkout it will inform you that the item you want to purchase its unavailable or something along those lines.
  22. I might be giving too much credit, GoCollect handled it so poorly that I wasn't expecting to have anything archived at all, anyways as you said they've pretty much killed the site, glad the community is here in VGS so seeing NA die doesn't feel as tragic as I thought it would be.
  23. RIP NA In all fairness, the clock was ticking and on Oct 30 the lights were going out regardless of sale or not, if it weren't sold it would probably be lost for good, at least GoCollect made the effort to archive it so I'd give them that. Having said that seems a bit unfortunate that GoCollect view on the hobby is basically collectibles as investments, I've been collecting video games for a while now and my primary motivation is that I like games and collecting was fun, I never purchased any video game thinking it was an investment, I always looked for good deals, stuff priced under market value, those are always solid purchases, instant profit basically, no speculation whatsoever, purchasing collectibles at market value to speculate just doesn't seem like a fun thing to do, to me at least.
