  2. I collect whatever I want to play. Simple as that. I have a variety of systems and just whatever suits my mood in the moment is what I want to play/collect.
  3. N64, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, PS2 Slim, PS3, PS3 Slim, Xbox 360, Dreamcast
  4. I know it's not exactly the same thing but there is a category on the GoCollect forums for archived NintendoAge posts: https://connect.gocollect.com/categories/archived-nintendoage-posts It's something, at least.
  5. The cover of Dark Souls 3 with the background changed to purple to look like a galaxy of sorts, hence the name Astral (for spacey/galaxy stuff) Soul (for Dark Souls) and 13 being my birthday and favorite number.
  6. The Lost World levels in DKC2 and 3 are some of the hardest in the original trilogy, yeah. I think most people who don't know the games super well find the games to be hard. I guess I have played them a ridiculous amount of times over the years that they have become easy to me. I usually 100% all three of them in one straight playthrough once a year or so.
  7. I want that changeable burger. That is pretty much the only one I care about.
  8. I always found the first DKC to be the hardest of the 3 SNES ones, at least to 100%. DKC2 is my favorite but I love all three and (to a lesser extent) DKC Returns and Tropical Freeze on Wii/Wii U.
  9. Mine was probably about 20 hours but yeah it wasn't a super long game. It might be the worst RPG I've played looking back, or at least one of the worst. It's just very boring and bland which is what I realized after getting a PS1 eventually and having so many better games to compare to.
  10. Never played a NG but really wanted one as a kid. But you know...expensive. Even today it's just too expensive and there aren't enough games to justify the price. Still.. It's a cool console and I wouldn't mind owning one.
  11. Any Donkey Kong Country game. They are all just super satisfying to me and I can (almost) play them with my eyes closed I know them so well. Super comforting to play.
  12. As someone who didn't own a PS1 til 2000, Quest 64 was one of my first RPGs. I owned a SNES but only played EarthBound, Super Mario RPG and Lufia II on it. At the time I was super hyped for Quest 64 and loved the game from start to finish. I know compared to PS1 RPGs it paled in comparison and going back to play it today is an absolute bore, but I really had a lot of fun with it at the time. It was the first game I experienced with battles where you move around in the play field and with a day and night cycle. So yeah it's not very good by any means but I have fond memories of it.
  13. I haven't bought a game based solely on the cover since the 90s. However I will occasionally window shop when I'm bored and sometimes a game that I never heard of grabs my attention because of the cover, but I will look it up and do research before even considering buying it. My friend and I were talking about old game covers the other day and it's funny how certain covers just stick out to you even if you never played the game. Like, I remember Abadox on NES simply because of the cover. Never played it and couldn't even tell you what kind of game it is. But I remember that cover, seeing it in stores,in Blockbuster, Funcoland, etc. Funny how stuff like that sticks with you, huh?
  14. I have a lot of 6 games for GameCube, I just want them gone. They are all complete but one and all work fine, but some of the cases are dented and scratched up. Do not expect mint copies. But they are fine for just playing and/or filling in collection gaps. LEGO Star Wars (disc + manual only) LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly Spyro: A Hero's Tail Egg Mania: Eggstreme Madness Asking $50 + shipping.
  15. I have absolutely no idea what this game is about and thus won't be buying it at launch. But I have to admit the lack of knowledge surrounding this game does make me more curious to see what it is. Maybe somewhere down the line I'll get it on sale.
  16. Oh yeah I've done this. Most recently (about 2 years ago) on a brand new in box Dreamcast system since I always wanted one. My highest bid was $150 and when I placed the bid I didn't realize I didn't have $150 and it was several days from payday. I was winning for about 2 days and by the time I realized I didn't have enough, it was too late to retract my bid. I had a message to the seller typed out i my head if I won to try and negotiate that he wait a week for the money, since most sellers won't do that, I really didn't want that to happen. Luckily a sniper took me out at the last minute thankfully. I then thought about it and realized I could have a Dreamcast so much cheaper and didn't need it brand new anyway. I only bidded on the brand new one because it was good price.
  17. I really don't think they're that bad. Generic as hell, sure, and forgettable, but not terrible. I gave them a 5. I wouldn't listen to them by choice but I don't mind when they come on the radio.
  18. Off the top of my head, my top 10 are: 1. EarthBound (SNES) 2. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES) 3. Final Fantasy IX (PS1) 4. Final Fantasy XII (PS2) 5. Final Fantasy X (PS2) 6. Paper Mario (N64) 7. Final Fantasy VII (PS1) 8. Chrono Trigger (SNES) 9. Legend of Mana (PS1) 10. Mother 3 (GBA) Honorable mentions: Pokemon Emerald (DS) Final Fantasy VI (SNES) Pokemon White 2 (DS) FInal Fantasy IV (SNES) Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GCN) Breath of Fire III (PS1) Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals (SNES) I love RPGs, I don't have as much time for them these days which sucks because I want to replay so many of my favorites, or play some new ones. But they just consume so much time. I left out modern action RPGs since they feel significantly different than traditional JRPGs. Otherwise I'd include stuff like Dark Souls and Skyrim. Best console for RPGs? My personal favorite is clearly SNES. But PS1 and PS2 are also top-tier RPG consoles. DS and GBA are also pretty good. I can't say I feel the same about any other console though Switch is certainly gaining ground in this department. Favorite RPG series? Well I'd say Final Fantasy overall but the Mother series, as small as it is, are some of my favorite games of all time.
  19. NiGHTS definitely has an awesome soundtrack. The game is fairly fun too but I never owned a Saturn (always wanted to) but I have played it on PS3 as a remaster.
  20. My grandma passed away last month. She was 91 and has been sick for a while so it was expected. It was a nice ceremony and I saw a lot of relatives I haven't seen in over 10 years and I was really afraid it would be super awkward because of that time gap but we picked up right where we left off. I always thought the lack of communication between us was intentional but I guess everyone just gets so caught up in their lives they forget to reach out. We all said we should keep in contact from now on and exchanged numbers and said at least get together once or twice a year like we used to. But I'm not getting my hopes up. But at the very least it was nice to have everyone together again even if the occasion wasn't exactly a happy reason.
  21. I think the real question is, with NA officially out of the picture, what can we do to spread the word so that people know about us here? Like if a lapsed NA user were to search for NA and find GoCollect instead, but they were looking for the real NA spiritual successor (this), is there anything we can do so that people can find VGS by looking for NA? Probably not. But I think that would be pretty important to growing our userbase.
  22. Luigi in Super Mario 64. People would come up with the craziest things like collect exxactly 36 coins, get shot out of a cannon, ground stomp 5 times, and luigi would appear on top of the castle. They were all false. "L is Real 2401"
