My office is a mess right now, I've pulled in more big hauls than I usually would. Just a crazy few weeks. First up is a couple Pokemon writing books from Japan: A couple strategy guides, the SMB2 guide is an upgrade: Here's more stuff I pulled out of a recent local haul. The first two GBA games are sealed, the thing with PS2 on it just has a blank notedpad inside, I think it's an employee only item because there's no retail info on it, the guy I got it from used to work at an electronics store during the PS2 era! Some VHS and DVDs, random stuff, Video Game Invasion is hosted by Tony Hawk, go figure: A BattPoke (no discs but the launcher works) and a random electronic pinball toy I haven't tested yet: And an ALS industries GBA carrying case and an old Tiger Electronics Family Feud game. And then the Bolt for DS was an eBay find, it's just a not-so-common later printing: The next picture is... a couple hauls worth of GB games, plus a Tetris I won in an auction and a Donkey Kong NES Classics for GBA that I found via FB Marketplace. I did not plan to buy a bunch of GB games last month, it was just some opportunities came along and I had to take them. I am a sucker for these square boxes, there's no helping that. And lastly, another local haul. Last one for now! Hot damn, 'Slice! I've been looking for GB R-Type, Gear Works and Legend of the River King for ages. If you ever get tired of those, please think of me, lol. I can only dream of having the kind of access you seem to have for this stuff. Awesome gets as always
Renmauzo | 1,201
So, while I'm still prepping for PRGE, I thought that I'd like to continue getting the odd title here or there in the interim (and whittle down the list in the process). Over the past few weeks, I picked up mostly modern stuff like Cotton, Strikers, and the Chrono Cross remaster which my wife kept bugging me to get (she's playing it atm). Speaking of my wife, she found this Super Mario toy and we thought it was neat. A few weeks ago, i felt like playing Sunshine, but realized that I'd traded it to Gloves, so I went to the pawnshop for a look and they had an incomplete (missing manual) copy for $30 CAD (but had the advertisement insert). Funny enough, there was a second copy of the GH version with the manual, so I asked the guy (new guy, was his first day) if I could grab the manual out of it (same manual between both versions) and he said, "Can't see why not" so I scored a complete copy for cheap. I also had a hankering to play MGS, which they also had for next to nothing. Then, yesterday, my Play Asia order came in for Same! Same! Same!, Rolling Gunner, and Dirt Rally 2.0 GotY Edition which I was over the moon about. I'd read great things about Rolling Gunner, and anything M2 releases under their M2Shotriggers line is a must buy for me. Dirt was unexpected. The last time I played a game with the Dirt name, I really didn't like it but had given it a try because I had enjoyed the Colin McRae games on the original XBOX. Forever after, all Dirt games felt like they strayed so far away from what made sim rally games so much fun. After a conversation with my younger brother about RalliSport 2 a few weeks ago, he suggested I try Dirt Rally 2.0 and started extolling its virtues. I was resistant, but he showed me some game-play and I decided to get on board. I found out that the Xbox One version plays in 4K w/HDR, and since I wanted physical, was going to have to get a European copy; I didn't know there was no region lock. They had it at Play Asia, and since I was already ordering the other two games, it was all perfect timing. Dirt Rally 2.0 is amazing. Like, really amazing. This is the most fun (and frustration due to the rust on my skill) that I've had with a racing game in years...since RalliSport 2 I'd say, and it is addictive. The hunt to try and shave seconds off of posted track times is exhilarating to say the least. They got rid of all the Gymkana stuff and skater culture aesthetic that really transformed what Code Masters has been doing for a long time now and refocused on pure rally. Thank goodness! That's it. Nothing crazy like a lot of the stuff I've been seeing in this thread (0_0!) but fun all the same. Later folks!

I bought the Halo 4 Limited Edition and Best Buy never gave out an extra booklet it was supposed to bring separately as a preorder bonus. They said it was supposed to be mailed home, but that was clearly a lie.

OptOut | 8,884
Another lil shipment from Japan, Mega Drive set filling up! I've been focusing on shooters, seeing as they are just SO fucking good on this system. Great fun, good to get Gunstar Heroes in the too, that's epic! According to my list I'm up to 188 games, definitely aiming to top 200 soon, and hopefully reach 220 by the end of the year, that'll put me comfortably over half the set. In the meantime I got a TON of awesome games to play, super happy! 7

Brickman | 3,987
Latest pickup. Scored it for 25000¥ Which is actually cheaper than RRP and waaaaay cheaper than the crazy price SLG are trying to sell them for. Fired it up for about an hour and I’m really happy with this unit. The rotating screen is awesome and the games look great on it. The quality is definitely worth it (probably not really worth it for the SLG price though, for those on the fence).

Lynda Monica | 350
I picked up a couple more things for my Wii U collection! For the longest time I dismissed Zombi U as another brainless zombie game, but I was pleasantly surprised after watching the first hour on Youtube last night. It's more quiet and lonely than you'd expect, and it's a very refreshing take after years of games like Resident Evil 5 and House of the Dead Overkill. Hopefully it stays good for its entire run time, but that's something Wii U and 3DS games struggle to do. The Star Fox Zero guide was an impulse purchase, but I'm very happy with it. It was $9.99 at the game store, and for that price I didn't care that I had already 100% completed the game. I don't normally buy strategy guides, but now I'm thinking of hunting down some others for Wii U. There likely weren't many that even got one in English, so it should be easy to get them all for the games I own. That's it for me until Wednesday! trj22487 | 350
I picked these up at my local mall this weekend. About $220 including the Zapdos. I had the full base set as a kid and sold them off about a decade ago, now that is the one card I have. The SNES games are in impeccable shape. Tinstar is a nostalgic one to me, when I first moved to my current town and met my eventual stepbrother, he had just gotten it and I had never played it. It's the first thing I ever remember playing in the town I now live and brings back good memories. Shadow Dancer is a game I had never played growing up and was blown away by how great it is, I think I like it more than Revenge of Shinobi. The dog attack mechanic is so cool and reminds me of Shadow from Final Fantasy III/VI

I got the chance to test the system out this weekend, and check the system version. This is an important thing to do with OG XBOX because the earlier board revisions (1.1 to 1.5) have cheap leaky clock capacitors that must be removed to avoid ruining the motherboard. I was surprised that this actually IS one of the earlier revisions, as my other two "special" XBOXES are both the later revision 1.6. I also noticed during testing that the image was a little shaky, which is a sign of bad caps, although fortunately the disc drive functions normally, as that is the most common point of failure for an XBOX. Anyway, I opened the fucker up and removed the leaky clock cap, and cleaned up the residue, but I then noticed these three big caps leaking: Now I know why I was getting a shaky image! Fortunately, I have experience with replacing these particular caps, as I had to perform the exact same procedure on another XBOX. I don't actually have any spare caps of this kind at the moment, so I will have to order some online and wait before I fix it, but IMO it is worth the hassle for this particular unit because it is otherwise in good shape. Anyway, my advice to ANYONE purchasing or using an OG XBOX in 2022 is to find some time to open it up and examine the board for leaky caps and ESPECIALLY to remove the leaky clock cap. At this point I have opened up and serviced like SIX OG XBOXES, and it is VERY important to keep on top of maintenance with these machines in general, IMO. Green Taiwanese XBOX update!!! AGAIN!!! Finally managed to get a good couple hours free this afternoon to go in and replace the three big blown caps with nice fresh new ones! I'm far from skilled with a soldering iron, but the patient seems to have survived the surgery! After a good hour or so of testing, everything seems fine, no wavy lines or anything! Feels great to have saved another XBOX from the scrapheap! 7
