And the 'main Dragon Quest series' portion of my PS1 collecting goals is complete. 🥲

The backstory comes down to the fact I paid below FMV for it. The worst seen in person are two small wrap-related nicks. With the rest being age-related scuff marks and scratches. And when it comes to the dent on both the obi and wrap, my guess is that it is production-related. Overall, I can only guess that it will grade between an 80+ to 85.

But even then... It was a great price for a 15 year old game. Especially when it had a smaller production run and was published after the PS1 ceased production. 🥲

Congrats!! I remember when there was talk of DQ IV being ported to North America, and then I vaguely remember Squeenix saying something like "nah, we can't find the code or some such" 😕
At least we got the wonderful DS remake, but what a lost opportunity for fans - but anyway, I'd love to see pics of your DQ collection 🙂

Thanks! And TBH, I was going to mention that before things became chaotic here. 😅

As for the collection pic... I'll do that once everything is both done and organized. 😁 Just be aware that it is a fraction of what my old collection was since this round has me limit it to PS1 stuff. 🙂

My love of Game Boy met my love of shoot 'em ups with this seemingly obscure GB shooter that arrived today. I'm in the middle of a few games atm on my backlog challenge list, but I hope to dig into Xenon 2 in the near future.

There will be some more new Game Boy goodness in a couple weeks, so until then, thanks for looking!

Went to Video Games NY today in New York and caught them slipping on a $3 Star Strike for Atari 2600. This one is very hard to find and not cheap.

Then I went over to 8 Bit And Up which had way better selection and picked up all this:

- Bump 'N Jump

- Burgertime

- Masters Of The Universe The Power Of He-Man

- Sub Scan

- Shark Attack

- Bermuda Triangle

- Tele-Games 12

- Beany Bopper

- Atlantis (can't find any information on this blue label variant but they had 2)

- Final Fantasy SNES inserts

- Endura for Atari 2600 manual

- Coleco insert

- 2 NES registration cards (American Sammy and Acclaim)

- Pele's Championship Soccer manual

- Burgertime manual

- Super Challenge Football manual

- Tron Deadly Discs manual

- Dark Cavern manual

- Super Cobra manual

- Atari Log Book (I can't find any information on this)

- Masters Of The Universe The Power Of He-Man manual

- M Network insert

- The Legend Of Zelda second print manual

- Rad Racer first print manual

The first games of 2022:

wnlXFJBh.jpg

I bought the 3DS games on November but they only arrived this week.

Nightmare Circus is one of the hardest games (probably the second hardest) to find on the Tectoy set. I'm happy to add it to the collection. Lost World and Dragon are also games that you don't find it easily.

toys r us exclusive littlest pet shop with a stylus? 😍🥰

Not packed into the case (much too big). They handed it to you when you bought the game. Most of the stickers were on the sealed games so it got torn off with the plastic. This was an opened game so they stuck the sticker on it. Just interesting to find.

I decided to focus on collecting for Sega Systems in 2021, and I thought this would be a fun comparison.  The only working hardware I had was a Dreamcast...but I had a broken Genesis and extra controllers for those systems. Here is a pic of all my CIB Sega games in December 2020 - I found them all at Goodwill/Thrift Stores:
727811005_IMG_13791.thumb.JPG.fa6e0d176a75bcd0218b91f6c26bc435.JPG

And, although I had to pretty much stop buying games after my gameroom flooded in September 2021, I made pretty good progress on my little CIB Sega collection during the year! Not pictured (CIB Saturn/CIB 32X/Sega CD 2 & Genesis combo, tons of accessories/controllers/VMUs/multitaps, etc.)

I got most of these off eBay, but I did do some trading/buying on here, and @MiamiSlice, @RetroMichel, @CIB_Wholesale_no_split, and @dyer might recognize a few of these - Thx!

I kept costs down by buying in multiple game lots, accepting a lot of messy manuals/water damaged cover art/broken Saturn & Sega CD cases/all around poor condition games (but all of them have been tested and run!), and being patient with offers and auctions on eBay.

If I hadn't stopped buying games in September, I probably would have whittled down the 50 or so games that are left on my Want List for Sega systems...but hopefully they come my way in 2022!

Bruh, all those titles in 2021? Impressive! You have all the games. A couple more fighters is all I'd recommend 😁

Just playing catch up on this thread, lots of nice things since I last looked, good variety for sure.  I've been slower pacing myself desperately trying to minimize looking to ebay for stuff as I prefer trying to work it out locally first.  Online will be for when I'm fed up and the right price on a very short list of stuff pops up.  It's why I've been relatively quiet outside of the evercade.

Luck would have it, driving by a usually fairly meh goodwill had decent results.  It's that one between the two half price books so it wasn't out of the way was the only reason I bothered at all anymore.  They tend to price anywhere from decently fair to ebay annoying, which at $80 for a Gamecube game was a no go(Mario Strikers) but they did have at least a dozen other games, strange, as no other store has seen that many combined since fall around here which is weird.

I paid $50 for these, they're complete, minimal wear to the discs.  I could have grabbed a couple more at least but better versions are up on GoG/Steam depending which so I didn't bother.  Always wanted that Gladius game, looked fascinating but never had the time.

Last week this arrived. The Final Fantasy OVA series (aka Legend of the Crystals) is both my favorite 90s anime series and a sequel to my third favorite SFC RPG (Final Fantasy V). Ironically, I had to use Mandarake's photo because I could not get a clear one myself. 😅 But I plan to rectify that when I finally do a collection pic. 😁

Final Fantasy Legend of the Crystals was fantastic, I remember watching that like 20 years ago or so.  Did that ever make it beyond a dvd transfer?  Or at worst...streaming.

Sadly, no. 😭 Not even a revival in Japan. But I did find both versions have been uploaded by a YouTuber. (Which I have plans to watch once I catch up on what I have recorded.)

Probably should not link it here, but someone took the 2hours of that total movie format (vs the 4 episode style) and popped it up with a fairly decent quality dub on youtube for free with no ads or sub needed.  Totally found it pretty fast on accident trying to see if I could find a dvd or streaming anywhere.

Recent thrift pickups. Redsteel in paticular looks like a very intriguing waggle game im excited to try out. DKCR is a nice CIB upgrade over my disk only copy. I also heard it was tougher than any of the SNES games, but still really good.16426120216354909022060600538940.thumb.jpg.8ebdd1ef016669a88d7301d44f9003eb.jpg

Redsteel is not bad. It got a lot of flack and it's a waggle game but I honestly had fun with it. The 2nd one is better in every way if you ever come across it.

I'd be interested to hear how DKC holds up. Tropical Freeze, in my humble opinion, is one of the best platformers ever made (and also quite a challenge). Also, Halo Reach is my favorite Halo game of all-time. Nice pickups.

I really enjoyed DKCR although I never finished it.  I actually played it back when it was first released.  I would definitely classify it as challenging, but it includes the option to have the game play for you if you die often enough (like the NSMB series).  DKCR includes some motion controls, but it's pretty minimal and doesn't ruin the experience.  I never got a chance to play Tropical Freeze, but I want to.
