I would love this game if it wasn't for the slow clunkiness of it. Have you played Gaiares yet?
-
Well at least Gamegearguy knows people are reading his blogs now.

Do you use fabric softener? I've heard that some of those can give you a bad rash.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but zero page memory is just memory addresses from 00 to FF. It lets you do operations using just 8 bit addressing.
Example: LDA $09 instead of LDA $0009
It saves a byte, and I think it's supposed to be slightly faster. Anything above FF and you have to use full sixteen bit addressing.

You should try to get outside more and get some exercise. Just going for a walk will help you feel better.

If you keep getting up later, you're eventually going to be an early riser.

Nice work. Maybe this site could give you some ideas for letter colors: https://www.theknot.com/content/colored-gemstones-101
To make things more difficult maybe you could increase the ghost speed for each loop. I think the original Venture only had about four levels that looped.

Onyx "o"? I got nothing.

This looks really good. I saw your youtube vids on it and it seems like its coming along really well. I'm wondering if you could implement a harder mode where you have multiple ghosts. The two of them could take turns moving to make things more dynamic. It might be too difficult to pull off so don't stress it. Another thing you could do would be to have rooms with invisible walls like some of the levels in Pick Axe Pete.
I've been thinking a bit about Frank The Fruit Fly. I like Frank, but I don't know how I would ever go about describing it to someone. It still makes me think of a Wario Ware game, just not as fast paced.

Nice. It doesn't have to be a perfect clone. So don't tie yourself to the original if you don't want to. What they pulled off with the 2600 version was amazing.
-
Too bad about Venture. I really like that game, but I know the odyssey was super limited like the 2600. I don't know how Ed Averitt pulled off some of those games he did.
-
I think there are some older Genesis games that get progressively harder or faster as they loop after the ending. Eventually, they just get impossible to play.

The realistic clouds kind of give it a surreal look.

The Mandela effect got it's name from the fact that a lot of people remember Nelson Mandela dying while locked up in prison in the 1980's. It's not just remembering things "wrong". It's the fact that lots of people also remember them wrong. Another good example is the "Fruit of the Loom" Mandela effect. A lot of people remember the cornucopia in the label, but there's no historical record of it. There are things, however, that reference the original work without being explicitly linked to it like the Frank Wess, 'Flute of the Loom' album cover.
OT: There's an old EGM add that shows a scene in Rushing Beat for the SFC where the background is exploding in flames, but that scene isn't anywhere in the game. I've had other experiences with games and ME, but I can't remember them at the moment.

Put some wife abuse in it and it could be an Eminem song.

Your gorilla looks fine, maybe just have both it's elbows stick out to the side and give it shorter legs. That may look weird too, though. These are 2600 graphics so I wouldn't overthink it. Hope your new cat isn't peeing or pooping in hidden places as well.
-
You could make your little man in the road kind of thick and call him a gorilla. You could even have him get thicker and slower with the bananas he eats if you had the bytes for it.
-
I kind of liked it lighter because I feel it conveys the idea of a bright yellow color better. Just my opinion. The revised pic looks good also. Either would work.
-
I always thought this game had a funny sounding name. Am I the only one who things it sounds like Klu Klux Klan?
-
Maybe if you have enough space left over at the end you can come up with a new graphic like flowers or grass to line the bottom of the screen with so it won't look so empty.
-
Left over ham sandwiches are good too. I hope you took some home.

What kind of computer is it? All my junk connects automatically with ethernet cables. If you're using wireless, you should just have to enter or select the nework name and enter the router access key.
-
I think you should leave it like it is for now. You can always refine that after the rest is done.
-
For the first game, I would highly recommend the Switch port. It has a lot of really nice quality of life improvements including an automap feature and a mode that gives you more experience and money. It's also cheap enough most people could buy it with their points alone.
