  1. And this is why I bought Wii U games when they were being discounted from the big box stores...
  2. Even someone who bought the bulk of their collection more than 8-10 years ago, I still feel this. Between the time, cost, and general effort to sell, it's a real pain in the ass and you eat a ton of profit with shipping, tax, and fees now more than ever. I feel the same about stocks too... did a bit of research and made some decent trades last year, but between the fees and tax and the effort put in, it really doesn't seem worth it unless you're playing the long game or you take significant risk (unless you just generally enjoy it). In both cases I just feel like I am getting fleeced (by eBay with selling games) but particularly the gov't since they take a significant amount for doing nothing. I still have quite a bit of stuff to move and taking a hit and selling in a few bulk lots seems more appealing by the day.
  3. 2,1,3. RE 2 is one of my favourite games of all time. The remake was incredible but wouldn't exist without the original which still holds up. RE2 definitely refined the original and brought in more action without losing too much of the puzzle aspect (maybe not as cryptic for better/worse) of RE1. RE3 feels like an RE2 side quest or DLC... both the original and remake.
  4. Ah yeah... all coming back to me now. I played the hell out of some of those games that I hadn't really played before for that contest, like Smash TV, Star Wars and Super GnG. That Street Fighter 2 battle with quest4nes was also pretty epic. Good times.
  5. I played through the first one for the NA SNES contest maybe. I beat it within a few runs without dying. Slow and forgettable like a lot of early SNES platformers. Not worth $20 unless you needed it for your collection.
  6. I remember playing through and enjoying both Chameleon Twist games when they were relatively new. I tried to play the first one a few years back and it was hard on the eyes lol... very blocky and foggy, but still fun for a few levels before I moved on.
  7. Yeah, great point at the end. It's really not about the tax itself, just the shock factor of the new price+shipping+tax and likely eating some of the profit to minimize that (already doing that with shipping). We're also 15% here in NS, so it's the same. People already complaining about $20-$25 shipping on my listings, I can't imagine them wanting to pay another 15%, especially on high end sales. I think this what was implemented in the States a while back if I remember correctly.
  8. Got an email from eBay stating they will be charging taxes right off the top starting July 1st (non-optional). Of course they are doing it 'for our convenience'. I know you were always suppose to pay with our taxes, but with this cost up front and shipping ANYTHING with tracking costing $25, I'm not sure how selling games on eBay is viable any more. Selling a $100 game is either going to cost the buyer $140 after taxes and shipping or you pay shipping and fees and lose the majority of your profit.
  9. It crashes pretty consistently if you have double/triple special item, especially at the end of the grim reaper level and during that boss fight with lots of sprites on the screen... very annoying. Maybe the only game I've gone out of my way to upgrade to a revised print since it's one of my favourites.
  10. Depends on the situation. If it's a print that impacts the cover art with a banner like Player's Choice, I would avoid it and take the 'near-mint' 1st print. If the only difference is a circle vs. oval seal or a box missing a 'TM' or something, I couldn't care less as that's all been hyped by WATA. I actually prefer later runs for several NES titles, like Castlevania, because they have more optimized performance.
  11. I started looking into old sports T-shirts (late 80s-90s) a few years ago as I always loved the all over print and exaggerated/loud designs. I used to have a few back when I was a kid (Charlotte Hornets/ Chicago Bulls). I found out that a lot of them fall under the 'Magic Johnson' branding and are quite sought after. They're tough to find in good condition and typically go for $100+ upwards of $500 online depending on the condition/team/design/rarity. ex.
  12. When I was wrapping up my collection, one of the last things I did was upgrade some of my CIBs. I paid a premium on some of them that were really nice, but it was an easy buy because my less desired copy usually fetched a good price/profit. Or, like Castlevania, I sold my 'first print' for big bucks (got tired of the game freezing) and then bought a really nice copy of a later print for a premium that was easily covered by the initial sale.
  13. Found this at Goodwill for 2 bucks today... https://imgur.com/a/Erpk1Dn
  14. Holy fuck.. it just cost me $28 after tax to ship a single GameCube game in a small box to Ontario. Cheapest option with a small business plan. Insane!
  15. Yeah, not too many surprises and was happy to see Looney Toons BBL up the list... One of those weird games I always go back to out of simplicity. Same with tiny Toons. Most of the rankings that I'd consider 'out of place' are just not my type of games or the things you don't have as much issue with (I can't overlook the looseness of EWJ... Not my jam). I am also someone who would call you out for grouping Street fighter 2 with turbo and super... It's terribly slow and deserves a much worse ranking imo even though it's mechanically similar. Alpha would be lower too.. great game but the port is choppy and sluggish even being impressive for being on a SNES cart. I'd knock down ZAMN for the password system alone, can't stand when it doesn't hold your inventory. Some good write ups. Top Gear 3 is pretty sweet and I think maybe a little uncommon as it came out a bit later... Maybe why it's not as talked about. Over the years Drac X had definitely climbed my list and surpassed SCIV at some point. Soul blazer used to be one of my favourite games and it's still very nostalgic but I found it a grind the last time I played it... Mixed feelings on that one with how simple it is as a game. Cool story though. I'll have to try out a few of these that I don't remember paying like goof troop and Buster bros... Look interesting. Only 50 to go... be interested to see the top 10.
  16. That 1.5m sale has skewed the sealed market so much that 5 figures now looks like a market cooling even though you could have bought any game in any condition for $10K or less 3 or 4 years ago within reason. I still think the bottom will continue to fall out of this though as popular titles see more copies come to market and the new investors continue to generally ignore legitimately rare stuff. I believe sealed Mario, Pokemon, and Zelda games are gonna have a nasty rebound here in the next few years compared to the record sales we're currently seeing. I don't think Mario 64 will ever break a million again... ever.
  17. Sorry a little busy but this thread I think should fill u in. https://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/comments/sdesxw/megathread_rantiwork_goes_private_after_fox_news/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
  18. That interview with Fox by the mod from r/antiwork was fucking rough. Looks like the sub is shut down as a result.
  19. A sealed Super Mario Sunshine Player's Choice NFR should be worth like a million dollars then.
  20. Very sorry to hear. My condolences to you and your family.
  21. There's quite a bit of data showing that vaccine rates are lower amongst people in Red districts and that death rates started to deviate between Democrats and Republicans with Delta after vaccines were widely available. I would say the politics of it has had more impact on the unvaccinated than those who are vaccinated.
  22. I will often check out their file if it's near end game just to see how people play and what their setup is. Then briefly lament about how they will never play this particular quest again and delete it.
