  1. Saw a GWAR show back in the day... almost 20 yrs now... and they had a Michael Jackson stage prop and when the solo kicked in the face fell off it and sprayed the audience with what I assume was just water with red food coloring. Great show. Their interviews are a treat as well.
  2. ^That popped up on my feed yesterday... quite the mixed bag. Never heard of these guys before but the video is wild.
  3. Started selling games locally and cashed in on a few heavy hitters and then a few graded games through HA and made some good bank with the overspending of people with too much money. Took a break from selling but will hopefully be ramping up for the last big purge any time now once I get some motivation (which is really tough for me, since selling is a chore). I have all my 'keep forever games' aside and then have a for sale pile put aside with games I'm ready to part with. I also have a Wii U Amiibo set, Wii U full game set (with a ton of extras), and the first 4 or 5 waves of World of Nintendo toys that I'd like to offload as individual lots. Only thing I've bought is like 3 or 4 Switch games in the last few years and a pile of GC games I stumbled upon at Goodwill and instantly flipped.
  4. I personally wouldn't. I'd just leave them as is, but they are yours. If anything, I'd put them in a new clam shell but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a prototype in an 'original' shell. Cool label designs though.
  5. That's more like a metroidgaidian™.
  6. 2, 1, 11, 4, 5... 3, 8, 6, 9, 10... 7. I think two (on difficult) is the best all around game. Basically a polished version of 1 which I think is still an awesome game and was a solid foundation for future games right out of the gate. 11 is my new favourite as the gear system really adds to the game without removing the classic MM feel and the controls are so good with fast Rush and weapon changes. The game has a pretty big learning curve for a relatively simple game... Right up my alley. 7 I just never liked. It was clunky, tedious and completely overshadowed by MMX at the time.
  7. Nostalgic and pretty funny. I could understand why many wouldn't like it or be interested in it though.
  8. I could do without although I was never a huge Zeppelin fan either. There are definitely worse things out there.
  9. I put in a good chunk of time into Hollow Knight yesterday and the game has opened way up. There are a few upgrades that have really changed the game and now it's more in line with that I had envisioned going into it. Although I still feel like the start of the game has some flaws, I think that playing for small chunks of time and general bad luck with a few deaths really set me back that had little to do with the game itself. Another piece of health or a few small changes at the start of the game could definitely improve the quality of life aspect starting off.. you get burned pretty hard a few times for exploring dead end areas at the start of the game imo. Overall having a lot more fun now that movement/abilities have picked up and I have a few badge upgrades.
  10. The game is definitely not bad, I just personally find it a little tedious off the rip with collecting geo, finding the map guy, and some paths being somewhat tough to find by design. I don't like the map setup where you don't even uncover what you've traveled unless you find the map dude (as far as I know). I bought a charm to help me see in the dark which ended up as a dead end with my lack of other abilities and then had to grind a little to open a fast travel site which wasted a bunch of time. I walked by a hole/door in the ground that's tough to see even when you know it's there that wasted another probably 30-40 minutes of mindless backtracking/exploration. I got smacked into the acid with a explosion that took two hits, and then died when I hit the acid. I traveled all the way back from a save point only to have my 'soul' off screen and unreachable because of how I died... another bunch of wasted time and significant geo. It's pretty easy to take damage on the vertical scrolling sections from not seeing what's off screen, which again has cost me a few deaths, but maybe my fault for rushing. I went into this game completely blind... knew nothing about it except only hearing how awesome it was and that it was a metroidvania type game. I was talking to my brother about it and he essentially said the same things as you guys, that it's slow off the start, a little cryptic, but gets a lot better once you are more established in the game. I think being a little more cautious with my exploration and maybe playing for a slightly longer chunks will help. Like I said though, I feel with some costly mistakes up front, missing that door, and knowing the mechanics slightly better I could condense my 6 hours into about 30-40 min or less which is why I am claiming it to be a bit tedious... maybe some bad luck mixed in there. The last metroidvania type game I played was Strider (2014) and thought it was fantastic. Maybe HK will grow on me a little.
  11. I'm just not feeling it. I just beat what I presume is the 3rd boss fight and I'm finding this game quite tedious - to the point where it's becoming a grind. It's actually quite frustrating somehow even though it's not overly challenging... Hard to explain. Might start fresh when I have a few hours uninterrupted to play. I think I've been playing around 6 hrs now and feel like I could get back to where I am in 30 min.
  12. To have fun and challenge yourself against the game or other people. I couldn't care less about the story 99% of the time... please just let me skip those cut-scenes. I've probably played Ninja Gaiden a thousand times and I don't think I've read the text once.
  13. I think the big thing with YT is consistency and playing to the algorithm. It is possible to have a smaller, but more dedicated fan base for something niche, but you still have to be relatively consistent with content. I'm not sure 'highly edited' is the way to go but high polished/production is what I see do well on YT outside of already established content (i.e. good audio/picture, well presented, etc.) Also 15-20 minutes is short and sweet???... that is becoming a lifetime w.r.t YT these days and the pushing of shorts. Most channels I see that have 10+ min videos are well established channels that put out one long video every month or so that seems to do well with the algorithm and I'm sure helps keep video quality high. If I was starting out, I'd try to find a format that works to be able to remain consistent without burning yourself out. You gotta stick to content you're interested in or it's just gonna feel like work.
  14. (*Canada) I called around one year to about 5 or 6 places when I was renewing my insurance and inquired about this very thing. I came to the same conclusion - that they always said it would fall under 'personal items etc.' but when I brought up the value (ex. $500 for a single CIB SNES game) they would always give some generic answer like 'replacing the game at cost when it was new' or 'how much it would cost to replace the game' but I could tell that not one single insurance agent really understood or would confirm the replacement collectible value of the game. Some of them did have special insurance for jewelry and I think one had a special section for sports memorabilia but video games would have been rolled into my homeowners insurance and likely would not have been covered anywhere near the extent they would be worth/replace. I've since sold a lot of my high end games as a result as I felt they were just a liability. I don't see the point of putting your high end stuff in a fire proof safe or deposit box at the bank... completely defeats the purpose of owning it imo unless you're waiting to cash out in the distant future.
  15. Definitely gonna see a skew of opinions on a collecting/gaming site but digital will be the way to go moving forward, especially as we get into more free-to-play games, and games with 'seasons' etc. that get built upon with DLC instead of a new disc/cart. I'm honestly not even sure how consoles outside of the Switch are gonna remain relevant after next gen unless something groundbreaking happens. The Switch tapped into the mobile/quick to play market with the Nintendo brand of games where I think we're starting to see the diminishing return aspect start to creep in with the other home consoles compared to a gaming PC. Even with the Switch, I see more people going digital for various reasons including clutter of carrying around games and the ease of digital DLs. It doesn't matter much to me these days as I don't play very many games and buy even fewer. I could see myself getting a gaming PC in a few years and never buying a physical game again. I'll keep at it with the Switch and potentially for the next Nintendo console, but I definitely see digital games all but erasing physical gaming media in the next 10 years or so... it's gonna be the Sony/Xbox online shop/streaming. It's pretty tough to find music or movies around anymore. Even places like Best Buy have a tiny shelf with the latest 2 or 3 blockbuster movies and maybe a few CDs.
  16. Playing Hollow Knight for the first time. Got it on Switch for Xmas. Just got my dash and am headed to the 3rd or 4th area.
  17. A question I've asked myself a lot lately when looking at my collection on the shelf. Some games I plan on going back to, but with it being 10, 15, or 20 years since I've played them last will it ever happen again. Breath of the Wild would be a great example recently. I doubt I'll ever go through that game again after giving it a thorough run-through.
  18. But did you hear the piano *tink* in the trailer? A parody of itself at this point. *not knocking the movie, just the cliché preview setup.
  19. I'm just disappointed Steven Tyler wasn't cast for Toad.. missed opportunity there for everyone.
  20. Captain Morgan White in some stiffy rum and cokes.
  21. Yeah, I didn't mind it either, but the figures were starting to become redundant at that point (yoshi color variants etc.) and it kind of messed up how the waves were being released. I liked collecting them for a bit but they became harder to come by up here in Canada after Target and my local TRU closed and felt it was a good time to stop with the branding change and already having a lot of figures already.
  22. I have a ton of these... Pretty much all the stuff they released in the first 4 or 5 waves before the branding changed. They're sealed sitting in a few totes somewhere with my amiibos. #regret
