Last night, I just got back from a road trip with the family to Toronto, then Milwaukee for MGC, then back to TO for a few days before finally returning home (that was a LOT of driving @_@).

While we were gone, a package showed up for a pre-order that I'd placed, a deal I've been working on since January came to fruition in TO, and we got a few things while at MGC 🙂

The NEOSD PRO I ordered finally showed (a day after we left, so I haven't been able to try it yet), but the construction in the house continues and the game room will be moving, so I'll just wait until the work is done, the room is moved and all the cleanup is done.

Aside from that, I picked up Astra Superstars for less than the going rate for a fully complete copy on Yahoo Japan from the Retro Game Bros. in TO. It was good to see the brothers again, and they've got something else set aside for me for another time 😉

I finally found a copy of Ghost in the Shell on PS1 while at MGC, and it was the only copy I saw (and I looked for hours). It's pristine and has the reg card, and I talked the seller down on price so I was over the moon to get this 🙂

I then got a complete Vectrex, multi-cart, dust cover, and complete set of repro overlays from the fellow who created the multi-cart for a fantastic price. He, my wife and I talked for a while and I learned a lot about the Vectrex. I'd fallen in love with the console and games while at PRGE 2022, and this was the main thing I was looking for at MGC. My wife and I have been jamming on this since the show 🙂

Now this was a LONG time coming! As a massive Mega Man fan, I've wanted to get a complete copy of MM on GG for years, but the timing never worked out, but mostly - and for a long time - finding one CIB just never happened. Luckily - at MGC - I found a fellow with this copy and willing to take trades, so I swapped my copy of Cotton for Turbo Duo (since I'd always wanted the Japanese version instead and got it a few months back) and a few Virtual Boy games I still had kicking around for it! This, GitS and the Vectrex package were the only games I got at the show, but boy, are these gets awesome to me!!!

Lastly, when we got back to TO, I took a day to visit my friend Kamal from We Got Gamez who hooked a brotha up!!! Aero Fighters was the last truly elusive SNES game on my list (only 2 NA, 1 JP, and 1 PAL game to go and I am done!) and my love of shoot 'em ups was the driving force here. For 6 hours, Kamal and I just caught up and talked life, which added a great memory and story to this particular game for me; it made this one special.

*************************************************

And that's it! I'm probably going to take a small collecting hiatus while I take care of house things. I'm almost done anyway, but adulting bekons (>_< bleh) so I'm going to be more tortoise than hare to the collection finish line.

Oh! I forgot to take a pic of it (because I'm in the middle of reading it, lol), but a big shout out to @LaC for his AMAZING World of Nintendo setup at MGC. Seriously, it was the highlight of the weekend for me, and I finally got a copy of his book which is absolutely brilliant! In the future, I look forward to trying to put together even a fraction of what Lac has with his displays 😉

Best of luck on the hunt, everyone!

Amazing!

I've been playing a fair bit of Vectrex lately, having only played it for the first time about a month or two ago, and it's an amazing little system! Very jealous of that pickup!

Those square grids on the monitor, and of course the vector display, just scream "This is what people from the 80s think future tech should be like!"

It's lovely 🙂

Game Site: https://city-connection.co.jp/hebereke/en/

Downloaded Hebereke Enjoy Edition on Switch, an updated version of Ufouria: The Saga. It contains the Japanese version of the game, but includes an extras section that has scans of the box, manual, and cartridge for the PAL NES release of the game (as well as the Japanese release for the Famicom). It also has a speed run mode, rankings, and the usual rewind and save state features that compilations and re-releases have been getting for years now. It's kind of like the Sega Ages series, but with a Sunsoft game.

The game is probably my favorite PAL NES import. There's also a sequel finally (Ufouria: The Saga 2), which I'll get later this year.

Got this magazine rack earlier in the month. I'm using it for various Model Airplane News magazines (many of which are still sealed), the Summer 1997 issue of Collectibles magazine (which has a Pac-Man article), an issue of Tips & Tricks that has an Animal Crossing code for the elusive Nintendo Bench, and some other magazines (like an issue of a wildlife magazine called Wild magazine).

Watched Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Watched the entire movie, including the mid credits scene. I'll buy the movie on either Blu-ray or 4K. Maybe in the Summer.

Three more titles knocked off the long box checklist.

I also picked up GH Rock the 80s specifically for the Beat the PS2 library, along with a few other PS2 titles 20240501_145955.jpg.449d4bbdc6865253aef1ccbf76dc1651.jpgjust cause.

Rock the 80’s is a fun one! Quite a few good songs that’s made my playlist after playing through when it first came out.

I've already played through half the songs last night.  I'll probably be able to finish the rest tonight.  I'm curious what is left since I didn't bother to lookup the set list before buying it.

Well, I’m probably going to post this on Reddit too just to see people both lose their collective minds, and call me a liar, but I just got the pick-up of a life time.

For just under $1,000 I got all of these games (plus several I’ve sold already in the past few days, plus a brand new PS5.)  The games are probably about $1.50/ea and I’d say that are 30% sealed.

The scoop is a local thrift shop received a massive pallet of modern titles from a Wal-Mart distribution center.  These are all customer returns and from spot checking discs (and reading the notes on the labels) most people didn’t want them and that was the reason for the returns! I’ve not found a scratched disc yet, either. Anyway, I bought a bunch at $5/each a few days ago and today I told them to name a price on the rest.  At $500 for what you see hear, I couldn’t say no.

Boom, instant PS4/5/XBox Series-X collection unlocked!

95% of these are going up for sale.  To recoup costs, after I sort through them I’ll likely put CIBs in medium priority mail boxes and $1-auction the boxes on eBay.  I’ll pull out the better condition/sealed items and sell them in lots of 3-5 or individually depending on value.

Seriously though, I like to give you guys first dibs. If you send me your list of games you want for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series-X. I will set them for you guys and we can strike a really good deal.  I could be open to trades later but I have to dig myself out of this $1,000 hole first.  My wife is typically skeptical of my… business moves but even she could see that all these games for $1.25-1.75 was a steal.

Any PS VR2 games I'd be interested in, if I don't have it I'll buy it.  I bet you have a second copy of Last of Us Part II Remastered....I'll call dibs on the second copy.
