  1. I’d like to add Echo the Dolphin and Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 to the mix
  2. Solid vs stranded wouldn’t matter there. Check continuity between the pins inside the slot where the cart actually contacts them, and the solder points on the board. If that’s good, check to make sure that you haven’t accidentally bridged any connections when soldering using a continuity tester as well
  3. So... how long you think till this thread is the topic of a Kotaku article about “Problematic Misogynistic Forums in the Video Gaming Community” and we’re all accused of being worse than Hitler?
  4. Anyone else notice that after the string of innuendo this thread got designated as “Hot”
  5. So that’s why women complement you on how shiny and untarnished your member is
  6. The best case scenario to me would be the site getting sufficiently popular as to attract a good quantity of knowledgeable people, but not become a victim of its own success and get flooded by whiny and/or disrespectful jerks who tank the great vibe this forum already seems to have.
  7. While I do love the ability to revisit old media and to save what were thought to be one time deals from ephemerality, I think part of why modern tech is used to look backwards so often is that we got kind of a shitty version of the future. 80’s future was awesome. So many cool things about it, outlandish design that truly made it feel like a different world. It also still mainly felt beneficial. Instead the most accurate prediction of our future tech was the Pilot episode of Rugrats where Stu inadvertently invented the drone and the Ring doorbell camera. Except unlike his version, they aren’t used to spy on people and erode their rights. And I think that’s also a big part of what drives us to look backwards. We used to look forward to all of this new technology as a way to enhance our lives and abilities. But instead, it just turned into a way to manipulate the public, track people like animals, bug their homes, enable discrimination to hide behind a machine, and sprout up modern day robber barons, the likes of which have not been seen since the early 20th century. It helped enable 1st world corporations to export labor to 3rd world countries for 3rd world prices with 3rd world regulations (read:none) at the expense of their own country’s populace. For those of us that didn’t lose our jobs, it destroyed our work life balance by putting everyone on call 24/7. I could go on, but the bottom line is that we got the shit end of the future stick so it’s not a wonder that people really tend to look backwards vs forwards these days.
  8. That’s great. Really love the design work. I’m excited for what’s to come.
  9. My issue with the Wii U was that they forced the tablet where it wasn’t necessary. For example, you couldn’t use Netflix without the tablet despiser the fact that regular controllers were suitable. So when watching a movie, I had to constantly have a tablet running the video and draining its battery. Also, the system settings. Literally no reason to force you to use the tablet to make a simple setting change.
  10. When a good portion of the Switch's popular 1st party library consists of Wii U ports, it definitely confirms the great games aspect.
  11. @Vectrex28 You sir have got some serious NES programming skills
  12. Shadow Dancer: Secret of Shinobi. I have literally gotten to 1 hit left on the final boss but have never completed it.
  13. TG16, Non Genesis Sega, Wii U, and not amazing but 3DO wasn't too bad.
  14. Yes and no. Wasn't an NA member but used to visit. Signed up here after seeing the news about the migration to VGS on Sega-16.
  15. Captain Lou ALL the way. Charles Martinet is great and I love his work, but it was just odd spending the 1st decade of my life having Mario be an Italian plumber from Brooklyn, and Im sure being Italian and from Brooklyn plays into this, and then all of a sudden being a straight up off the boat Italian. Also, despite not having any sort of NY accent anymore (moved a very long time ago) I still pronounce Mario the Brooklyn/Lou Albano way which tends to generate confusion from people used to the Martinet way.
  16. The Hot Wheels cars were legit. I had the green Quaker State one and it was the only one that could regularly clear my loop and jump track. The Camaro that came with the track never did. Mickey D's car, every time.
  17. That's awesome. The collection is cool as hell but I think the fact that the cabinet perfectly fits the full collection is my favorite part. I tried to get a retail cabinet when Toys R Us went under but they were just part of a gondola shelf system rather then a branded standalone like yours. They also wanted too much dough for all the needed parts so I passed. Seriously though, congratulations on completing the set.
  18. IDK man, when you have people who have poor rhythm and are bad at rhyming out at the forefront of an artform that is based around rhythm and rhyming it seems more just like objectively poor quality work put out by people who lack skills but have a marketable image. I tend to give credit where credit is due and give props to skilled performers regardless of whether or not they are exactly my cup of tea. I do also tend look at it through the lens of a musician who has produced and engineered hip hop records vs the lens of "ooo catchy danceable beat" that the pop consumer does though. Which brings it back around to the main problem with it currently. It's just pop. It's got more in common with the likes of Britney, Miley, Ariana, etc. than it does with the likes of KRS, Kool G, NAS, BIG, Doom, etc.
  19. WOW! That was absolutely mind blowing to see that run on an NES. Also on the kick ass music.
  20. Spinal! Cuz Killer Instinct was my game back in the day. Although I always played as Orchid or Sabrewulf, that was due to the move set. Spinal's design was always my favorite.
  21. 0. Would give a -1 if I could. Only saving grace is that in the late 90's they actually made some form of hip hop but it was still kinda meh.
  22. Oh man, I LOVE Air Fortress. Such a cool and unique game that had so much potential. The sheer thrill of escaping the fortress before it blew up, with the lights out and the screen shaking as the end drew closer, was awesome. More enemy variety and some more music would have done wonders for it. I feel like the extra SNES power would have really helped that game realize its potential. What I wouldn't give for a solid sequel.
  23. What I wouldn't give for a true sequel to Marble Madness. And I don't mean Marble Man although I'd love to play that at least once.
