I think I just lost my Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver save file.

Was in the Lighthouse area, ran into some weird glitch where most of the graphical assets except the fog and Raziel disappeared and I couldn’t move properly. Menu still worked so I was like “whatever,” saved the game, and exited back to the main menu.

Aaaaaaand now that save glitches up right after the loading screen. Made a new save file to check and that one loads fine, switched from PSN version to PS1 disc and that one never even gets past the loading screen for the first save file but the new one works fine.

tony jay you saved raziel from the abyss but you’re going to let a silly glitch finish him? RIP Raziel I guess

I think I had a similar glitch happen to me in Soul Reaver 2 once. I think I passed through a window by glitching through the barrier before I had the actual ability to phase through as a mist and I couldn't get back out. I think it autosaved there so I had to start over.

Did TTYD literally just break the 4th wall and plug a new release and whole other console like right out the gate? What balls that is! I'm already in love with this game!

So I dusted off and resumed Final Fantasy 13...it didn't make the best of first impressions I suppose but once I got used to that whole Crystarium thing (it makes sense as you use it) and the battle system it's actually kinda fun (especially that Launch attack) 🙂  I'm currently on Chapter 7 and I love how that one scene looks and plays out...the game is a feast for the eyes.  And apparently FF13-2 has a casino feature where you can win prizes and such like in the Dragon Quest games?  I hope it's at least as good and enjoyable as the DQ casinos.

First time?

I wish I could play that game again for the first time.

I'm a fan of Reed's backlog challenge. I'm getting caught up on some stone cold classics I missed out on! And this art style and gameplay is timeless. It looks and plays great 18 years later, and it will look and play great 18 years from now.

I really enjoy that game.  It doesn't get as much love as some of the other ones in the series that aren't as good.

Trying to rip through Nioh remastered on the PS5 before Elden Ring drops. 3rd playthrough, such a great game.

I'm also doing a first ever playthrough of Lufia & The Fortress of Doom. I'm actually liking it a lot more than I thought it would. I heard that Rise of the Sinistrals is way better, but I'm getting lots of enjoyment out of L&TFOD.

Digging into Guardians of the Galaxy for PS5. Finished up Deathloop last week.

I also finished Cloudpunk on Switch last night, so I'll be starting something new there tonight or tomorrow.

Damn, that's some high quality gaming right there.

I'll be interested to see what you think as you progress through Lufia. I didn't mind the first 10 hours of grinding, but when I hit the fifth or sixth dungeon that played exactly like previous ones with a different color pallette, I bounced. Sinistrals is heads and shoulders better.

I am definitely starting to sense some of the similar design elements throughout.

The grinding isn't bothering me per se, but it kind of is haha. I'm recording it for YouTube, so there's been a few spots where I'm like, "Yeah, I think I'm underleveled", then stop recording to grind a bit. Kind of digs into my gaming time, but such is the nature of a first playthrough of an old RPG. There's something about it, it's charming, although clearly limited.

This week I beat Donkey Kong for Game Boy and played more

Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 for PS2:

This week's progress seals the deal that I will eventually unlock all the capsules. I played Training Mode then got the last of the random capsules in Dragon World so all that is left are the rest of the Breakthrough and Fusion capsules. I played through Dragon World 4 times and got Great Saiyaman, Yamcha, and Dr. Gero's Breakthroughs + the Tiencha Fusion capsule.

The hardest random capsules for me to find were Senzu Bean and 1/3 Senzu Bean. Those can be found in the space Kid Buu occupies in the last level. The 1/3 Senzu Bean is there randomly among other possibilities the first turn that you search. The Senzu Bean seems to always be there if you search the spot twice.

I've been playing a bunch of Horizon: Zero Dawn. That game really is a fantastic experience. I have a few nitpicks about the climbing and fighting, but for Guerrilla's first foray into open world, it's incredibly solid. It blows away AC: Valhalla, which I played last year. I'm not planning to play Forbidden West at launch, but I may pick it up later this year.

For those of you who don't like Final Fantasy 13's linearity (the most controversial aspect of that game right?) I think you'll like FF13-2 a LOT better.  I especially love who gets to star in that game and who her trusty sidekick gets to be (and no he isn't some "toy"!)!
