  1. Happy Birthday Mr. Funk! Hope you have a great one filled with lots of great food and gaming, and other stuff too!
  2. Based on this, I chose a 3. Yes yes, they had major impact, were super successful, talented obviously, and that's great and if other people love their music, good for them. I just personally don't get that excited about their music and never have. And yes, I've listened to other songs besides the super popular ones. People get ridiculously aggressive regarding other people's opinions of music (which is of course, subjective). God forbid you don't LOVE the Beatles cause you'll get blasted for it haha. Anyway, I think we can be mature enough to compartmentalize 'cultural impact' versus 'personal enjoyment.' In terms of personal enjoyment and my own personal tastes, I just don't care for them and never have. I don't listen to and rate my music interests based on what OTHER people like.
  3. Hey there @ninjistar and welcome aboard! Spacepup fka sadikyo here. Glad to see that you’ve found us and hope all is going well!
  4. @fcgamer you may remember this is the game I told you about and was asking for you to keep an eye out. Any chance you would sell to me or let me know where I can get it?
  5. I will usually get a cauliflower crust and make my own pizza (I don’t mind the crust at all and it’s a lot better for you), but when I get a frozen pizza, I like the brands Amy’s, Daiya, and Sweet Earth. Sweet Earth I like in particular. They have lots of good options that are healthier and taste pretty good. They also have some great options for frozen meals like for lunch.
  6. Regardless of whether people feel she is more or less deserving of this designation than other individuals or groups (it is a company’s subjective determination after all), I think it is unfortunate that so many have completely discounted and criticized her with unfounded claims and perceived notions of her being completely unable and undeserving of any credit for what she has said or done. Not everyone has to be a fan, or love her, or think she is great. But to call her names and completely discount her is very unfair, I believe. It seems that she is doing what she believes is good. Rather than channeling the sentiment behind her efforts in positive ways, some choose to ridicule and criticize her. Did she get here “all on her own?” I don’t know - heck, I would hope that she has friends and family who also support her and help her spread her message. But to assume without any true basis that she is being controlled or a puppet to her parents or political groups seems a bit unfounded. Is it so hard to believe a 16-year old could have something they believe in and want to push for? Anyway, we could argue all day about where people should be focusing their efforts, or what is a “better good,” or who deserves a designation more —- but at the end of the day, people are talking about her and talking about climate change, which I think is a good thing. Of course we will disagree on what to do about it, if we can do anything about it, how much we have had impact, etc., but I don’t think it’s a bad thing.
  7. I have a few comments for you skinny. Please read and try to understand where we are coming from here: 1. You are assuming they are backdoor or backhanded compliments. You don't have the message nor the intent. B.A. was just sharing snippets of the language he used in the PM, to share that he wasn't being outright hateful in his message. There's nothing backhanded or backdoor about it. We keep trying to explain this and I don't know if you don't believe us or are confused? It is perfectly reasonable for someone to genuinely compliment someone or be positive about them in general, while asking them to try and be better here based on negative activities in the recent past. There isn't some dichotomy here about what B.A. said that precludes him from both complimenting the guy and asking him to have better behavior. 2. In the example above, perhaps you are right about MrWunderful and how he would react to a request to be cool. HOWEVER, if MrWunderful went on a wild, hateful, negative spree in very recent times, using a bunch of slurs and acting very irrationally, to the point that he got banned, then the situation would be very different, and I would not expect him to feel justified in saying to hell with this place. At that point, I would expect and hope for him to look inward and think....ya know, I'm getting a second chance here. I was way out of line before, and they are throwing me a line here and giving me another opportunity to be a positive, contributing member. That was the opportunity that was given to Loxx. How he interpreted that is completely on him. When people firebomb their way out of a place, it is very negative and makes us all look bad. When negative slurs were made - not everyone knows that it's because some individual is drunk, or upset, or trying to get banned, or whatever the case may be. It is bad all around and is very immature, to boot. He was given a second chance here and wasn't banned (and still isn't), with a mere request to try to keep things under control, which I absolutely maintain was extremely reasonable given the circumstances. 3. You are free to ask questions as you see fit - you are not being censored in any way. We are trying to answer questions as we can, but hopefully you can understand now how it seemed like you were pushing on it and judging B.A.'s behavior as inappropriate, when B.A. was only trying to help both Loxx and also VGS moving forward. We have put a LOT of effort here into both making VGS great, and also trying to be very patient and understanding with former members, giving people second chances, and really trying to run this place with an open mind and open heart for new beginnings. We really do try. So it is frustrating when it feels like our intentions or actions are judged and questioned, when people don't really know exactly the discussions to which we are referring. ANYWAY, let's all move on from this and try to keep things positive. I think there is a very old, super-legacy image that the NA Mods (and now VGS mods) are just super ban-happy and love to just hate and cause trouble for people. As Gloves shared earlier, that really isn't the case. People don't understand or know the true lengths we go to, to try to make things work and give people opportunities. I can assure you the effort is there. It is a very thankless job, while of course one that we did sign up to do for the betterment of the community.
  8. I think there are many reasons really. Shmups are super fun, usually high action high energy games, that really get your adrenaline pumping. Not only that, but in terms of imports, you can play them from any region usually, regardless of the language. Part of the reason the imports are so expensive compared to other genres, is because there is high demand both in Japan as well as in the US and other regions. There are many games where the demand is low in Japan and also here. But shmups are pretty much universally loved and there is a huge fan base home and abroad. They were (are) also huge in arcades, and some of that transitioned over with console games as well.
  9. Requiring gift payments was not allowed on NA and it isn't allowed here either. Please see #10 under site rules and revise your auction accordingly. Thanks.
  10. There are different ways of fighting Phins. The staff and others over at NA, tried very hard to prevent this from happening and trust me, we tried everything. After realizing it wasn't going to happen, rather than just sitting around and taking it, we put a lot of time and energy into creating VGS, giving people a place to go and continue the community, maintaining some continuity. We could have just gone to GC and complained, hopelessly harassing them for change, but it would literally accomplish nothing. Instead, we put that effort into VGS. It's ok to be disappointed, and even frustrated and angry, but harboring anger like empire said, or going around saying hateful and disgusting things, is not going to accomplish much. As I said before, I just encourage people to continue hanging out with friends here and making new ones, and let's make VGS the best it can be.
  11. I was a member on NA since 2010 and I put a lot of time and effort, particularly in recent years as a mod, to trying to work on things and help to foster a positive community. I dealt with the frustrating exchange first-hand along with the other staff and many others. And yes, there were many frustrations and disappointments. HOWEVER. I "got over" the NA exchange issue long ago and I encourage others to as well. The tweet, while entertaining perhaps, is unnecessarily crass, and hating on GoCollect all over the internetz does nothing constructive. I hope to see that energy channeled into positive engagement here on VGS.
  12. Great transaction! I got a very good deal, the items were shipped quickly and well protected, and they were in amazing condition. Very happy!
  13. I think I'd probably be still going after the same things I am now, although it would likely enable me to pick up some of the pricier ones without waiting as long. I actually don't think I'd go on some huge game shopping spree. After paying off my house, shoring up savings, and doing a few other things, I'd travel the world more often and make those trips better.
  14. I am not ashamed to admit that I enjoyed the first one decently enough, and I’ll eventually catch the sequel.
  15. @Reed Rothchild -- I just tested this on Chrome mobile. If you tap twice in the gray header portion above the quote (see the two red dots below), it 'selects' the quote. You can then tap the backspace (I had to do it twice), and it removed the quote without any issues. Give it a try and let me know if that works for you!
  16. Definitely enjoy Heart. Some good talent there, and some fun stuff. Gave em 8/10!
  17. I haven’t had this problem (quoting here to test) - but it would be helpful if you can share what platform and/or browser you are using when you encounter the issue. For example, is this mobile or PC? And then, what browser are you using?

For all of the...I'll say 'judgment' and criticism that NESMaker gets - it is really cool to see something like this that may not have been possible or feasible without it. If something like NESMaker allows people to share the love for NES and game development with their children, in a cool bonding experience like this, then I am all for it! I loved the video and I think it is super cool that you and your son were able to do this together!
  19. Welcome aboard Tim, from Melbourne, Australia! Nice to have you join us!
  20. That is a fair point. Plus there are so many wacky kinds out there it is hard to bite the bullet without trying it in person (trust me I know!) As for injuries - my older brother was known to have a bit of a temper with games, and while he didn’t hurt himself or us often, I know one time he got really upset about something game-related (can’t remember now) and he stabbed the sega genesis we had with a screwdriver and cracked it (the poor thing)! Yet, it still worked fine for many years!
  21. For some reason, no one else I know who has any RSI or carpal tunnel actually believes me or is willing to try this. But in all seriousness, I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting a split keyboard. In my early work days I was doing a ton of data entry and I started having severe pains. Eventually, I embraced the split keyboard and really worked on improving my ergonomic setup, and it makes typing SOOOOO much more enjoyable. It took just a little bit of getting used to at first, but now when I use a regular keyboard it feels awkward and I think "how the heck did I ever used to type like this!" Seriously - anyone who has these problems, I would highly recommend you really give it a shot, try it out for a while, and see if it helps manage!
  22. I can't say I've ever been this mad at a gaming situation. Even losing tons of progress. Anyway - I was reading through your story, and as I was reading through it, I thought for sure it was going to end with you grabbing the knife and stabbing your girlfriend! I'm glad it was just the wall at least!!!! On a more serious note, I actually hope this was a good learning lesson about games being just games, and not really that important.
