  1. I still need to play Tunic and Obra Dinn, which are both high on my list to get to, but I just wanted to say that I consider Baba Is You a 10, and honestly one of the best and most creative / unique puzzle games I've ever played. The game is brilliant in its simplicity but also depth and complexity/difficulty. It's wildly creative and executed extremely well. It is unironically one of my favorite puzzle games of all time, and I URGE anyone who is remotely interested in puzzle games to give it a try if you haven't. I can't wait to get to Obra Dinn and Tunic!!!
  2. One area that I'm probably significantly lacking is arcade gaming. I know many arcade games were ported in some fashion to consoles, but I wasn't able to go to the arcade much when I was younger - I remember going on a few occasions so I played some of the racing games and a few others, but there are lots of other arcade games I never got to play. And then I don't really have much personal exposure to things like Neo Geo, 3DO, Jaguar, TurboGrafx / PcEngine, and a few other less 'common' systems.
  3. I love PlayStation and some of my favorite games are PlayStation exclusive games. But, to each their own. I think I've only played a decent amount from that earlier list because my gaming has been a pretty broad mix of PC, retro, and modern. For many years, all I really had was PC so I was pretty heavy into PC gaming. That definitely feels like a segment that isn't as well covered across VGS, just generally speaking. I know we have a few PC gamers here but it seems like most people here are into consoles.
  4. Oh that one has definitely been on my "super-want-to-play" list, trust me. Haven't gotten to it yet, but really want to. I also still want to play Witcher 3 and haven't yet, as well as Papers Please and maybe Into the Breach. I technically played Hearthstone for a bit at my brother's insistence a few years ago, but I didn't really care for it too much. I played a few of the other ones a teensy bit, like some of the Halo games and Fortnite for maybe 5 minutes, but not enough to really consider having played them.
  5. Here are the ones from that 200 list that I have not yet played. Some of these are definitely in a backlog of sorts that I do really want to get to and haven't yet. And then some others I'm not really interested in, so a combination: Witcher 3, The: Wild Hunt Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Halo: Combat Evolved Red Dead Redemption 2 Disco Elysium Pokemon Blue/Red/Yellow (1998) / Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen (2004) Batman: Arkham City Batman: Arkham Asylum League of Legends Outer Wilds Assassin's Creed II Advance Wars Burnout 3: Takedown Return of the Obra Dinn Dishonored Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings Fortnite Civilization V Hotline Miami Fire Emblem: Three Houses NHL Hockey (Series) Into the Breach Left 4 Dead Halo 3 Dota 2 Halo 2 Ultima Online Robotron 2084 Bayonetta 2 EverQuest Gears of War Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal (2000) / Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver (2010) Untitled Goose Game Papers Please
  6. This doesn't feel like it's possible, but I'm at 165 / 200. Didn't *beat* all of those of course, but in terms of played decent amount of. This was an interesting exercise! I think those of us who still play "modern" / not-only-super-old games are probably going to a be a higher percentage.
  7. @guitarzombie some constructive feedback, if I may. I understand where you are coming from, but this is exactly the reason we have an "Ignore this topic" button at the top - if there are specific threads that people have no interest in following or seeing updates, they can use that feature to not see all the updates. Personally, I don't really follow this thread much and only monitor for moderation purposes. Yes, it is sort of depressing and I already get a lot of news elsewhere so I don't really need it here. For that reason, I mostly ignore this thread and don't click on most of the links. The fact this is in everything else section and at least consolidated to one thread as opposed to multiple over time, is enough for me to deem it acceptable if people want to share/discuss it here. For anyone who does not want to see this content, I legitimately do encourage you to Ignore this or any other topic that bothers you or you don't want to see.
  8. There are several other unboxings and other listings that all seem to indicate the standard original case inside the premium pack, with the barcode 0 31719 26901 3 just like the Original release, and then 0 31719 90044 2 on the premium package.
  9. That's really unfortunate and I'm sorry to hear that. It's definitely difficult for most people to imagine spending anything near that amount on any video game (myself included) - and frankly, most people simply just don't have anywhere near the means to do so. So perhaps some of it is just jealousy or resentment, along with the anti-sealed high-price-trend sentiment out there. Regardless of any of that though, it's your money and your decision. It was a transaction on an open market and a fair auction where the highest bidder won. The only thing I could really see people cringing or criticizing is the fact that the article Reed posted highlights a quote from the other bidder about it being flippable to a 250K game. That is the type of price-hype speculative pumping commentary that led a lot of people to hating the WATA craze. And @Tyree_Cooper I don't believe he was referring to you. Some of the other commentary he's gotten is absolutely hateful and nasty - it isn't just referring to people who aren't worshipping him or the game.
  10. I've banned the user already - rather than making a thread in the future, if you just want to report something like this we'll handle pretty quickly (like you did - thank you for that).
  11. I understand the viewpoint from people who feel like Sonic wants you to go fast then punishes you, but honestly, the game doesn't HAVE to be played ridiculously fast for the most part. I LOVED Sonic 2 as a kid and probably beat the game over a dozen times (no exaggeration). This was back in the day when we didn't have very many video games, so the ones we had we played over and over. And yes, we got to the point where we did pretty much memorize the levels and then were able to blaze through them like crazy. But even prior to that point, while still learning everything, I still really enjoyed the game and exploring the levels. In most of my early playthroughs, I wasn't just running as fast as possible and then dying all the time. I was being a bit more careful. But I still really enjoyed the game. And then later on, after playing the game a bunch, I was able to blaze through the levels. I don't consider this a requirement to playing the game nor a requirement for having fun. It's more like a benefit or added bonus that after you really know the levels, you can speed through them super quickly. I don't know, I have always loved Sonic, esp 1-3 and CD. Sonic 2 in particular will always have a special place in my heart as it was definitely a childhood game that we played a ton and loved.
  12. I couldn't find the image you probably need, so I did the next best thing and made you one hehe
  13. I'm not sure why you are going through all this effort when you can add some hinges and make it a lunchbox! In all seriousness though, good luck with the project and hope it turns out well. It's always really rewarding to do stuff like this and compare the before and after!
  14. This is exactly how I voted and thought about this. I'm not rating the ENTIRE series from beginning to end. But what I experienced, mostly when it was in its prime, was just freaking fantastic and I absolutely loved the show. It was funny and ridiculous, but also at times very thought provoking and even poignant (at times). I haven't watched most of the newer stuff, but what I personally experienced of the show, was just gold.
  15. I expect the same behavior from new collectors / new members as I do from existing collectors / existing members. I don't have any special or extra 'requirements' / etiquette expectations just because someone is new to something or new to a group.
  16. Fortunately there are some obvious tells esp with the manual, but it's definitely unfortunate. I hate seeing stuff like this infiltrate the market and inevitably get mixed up with games to where someone gets duped.
  17. Rebirth starts right after Midgar and goes through the City of the Ancients / Forgotten Capital.
  18. I know we have some Final Fantasy fans in here - how are you all enjoying Rebirth? I'm probably about 20 hours-ish into the game, and I have to say I am REALLY enjoying it. It took the parts that I liked about FF7 Remake, but added a lot more depth, lots of open-world exploring, TONS of minigames, some of which are actually super fun, and much more. It feels like there is a lot of content available in this game, and I am having a blast with it. Honestly, the Remake and now Rebirth games, are much better than what I anticipated. They still follow the main storyline of the original game, but add a lot of interesting content. I know some people weren't super thrilled with the 'episodic' nature of the reboot, but I actually enjoy it because with each segment they are able to really expand on the characters and world created with the original game. Anyone else pick this up? Thoughts?
  19. I've removed so many stickers and labels on games that I couldn't even tell you how many. I know that some people enjoy that sorta thing, but I also don't think anyone should be shamed or made to feel guilty if they remove store stickers on their carts. A lot of game stores would put stickers in the worst possible spots (like right on the nes cart art label) which over time can actually damage the label especially depending on the adhesive used and type of sticker. So when I was more into NES, I removed every single one. All of them. Sorry Mega Tank hehe. There are some exceptions to this in my mind, such as if there was a very special distribution chain for a certain game. But if it's just a third party / rental store that added it after the fact, I don't care about it. I'll also point out that one can very easily take a picture of the game with the label, and/or document whatever is desired about the old game store, while also still removing the sticker from the game
  20. I'll fault a person for not having patience if they are being overly rude or a jerk to someone when it is unnecessary. If they are just being a bit short are not overly friendly for their own reasons, then I don't really care. As it relates to VGS, ultimately all I care about is that we are overall a welcoming community that doesn't gatekeep and that we are place where lots of people from different backgrounds can hang out and talk about a shared interest. At the end of the day, that is all this is about. I think we are doing ok there, so I'm not worried.
  21. I personally will choose to be more patient if the issue is a lack of knowledge and experience. If it is a *behavior* issue then I have less patience. But, the beauty of life is that we can all handle things differently and how we see fit and how we want to handle.
  22. I get that to a degree, but I guess I prefer to deal with that scenario in a different way - and it's pretty easy to do so without being rude, hateful, and belittling others. It's pretty easy to ignore someone if it doesn't seem like a conversation is going to be constructive. Or, alternatively, it's easy to have a blunt conversation without being overly hostile. For example, if some new person joins a community and they are overly enthusiastic but just very ignorant of the norms, there are ways to deal with that without being super negative. I've personally had the experience of trying to join a community, not knowing much about things, but with a genuine interest to learn, and have been completely overwhelmed with negativity to the point of leaving - that's not really fun for anyone to deal with and in my experience, I don't feel I was an idiot but I was certainly ignorant of the norms there. Then I've joined other places where I didn't really know much, but people were very eager to help me learn and welcome me. Now, if someone is new and is just being absolutely belligerent, obstinate, and negative, that's an entirely different thing than what I'm talking about really.
  23. As it relates again to the 'dunking on newbie's' concept and related issues, I guess I just don't understand the value and joy some people get in putting other people down and belittling them. Bad *behavior* is one thing, but sometimes I see hate and vitriol stemming from just legitimately different opinions about something where there is no right or wrong. If someone joins the collecting world and only wants to buy games that are priced at exactly $77.77 and nothing else - I mean, it's a bit strange and yes they are limiting themselves in many ways, but I mean... is it worth anyone getting super worked up and hateful about? I don't think so, and yet, something even less strict than that will come about and people will throw a hissy fit and absolutely bash someone. My personal solution to many of these negativity problems is just to avoid any places that I know are just irreconcilably toxic to the point I can't change the culture. Seeing the dumpster fire at places can be entertaining for a short while, but then after that it is just sad and disappointing. I will say, that I know VGS isn't perfect, but after hearing about some of these other places, it really makes me feel a lot better about what we are trying to do here, hah!!
  24. There are some jokes in Rocko's Modern Life that I'm actually surprised made it on television. Overall, they were slightly more subtle and clever and not as in-your-face "here's this gross shock thing" image like Ren & Stimpy did. But yes, Rocko's Modern Life was one of my favorite shows around that time, and I absolutely love it.
  25. I understand haha. I am currently the sole vote for saw it but dislike. I found it to be too intentionally gross at times, just for the sake of it. I don't know, something about this show just did not resonate with me at all even when I was younger. Not every show has to be squeaky clean of course, but I just didn't care for this one. I also didn't like South Park or Beavis & Butthead either - and not just because I was "offended" or whatever. Rocko's Modern Life was mentioned in this thread - now that is one that I absolutely LOVED.
