  1. Welcome to VGS Yoshi! We definitely would love support and participants for contests and activities. Thanks for joining us!
  2. Welcome to VGS! I’m glad you decided to join and I hope you’ll enjoy your time here and join in on the discussions and activities.
  3. I am really looking forward to this one! I really hope it is good. I loved Luigi’s Mansion - it was such a fun, quirky, unique game with a different sort of gameplay. It had a great style and I thought was super fun to play. I really hope this one lives up to the original or at least keeps the same vibe. Very much looking forward to it!
  4. @m308gunner Thank you for the submission! It’s great to see some new ones and unique perspectives on the concept.
  5. For me it is definitely PlayStation - specifically, PlayStation 2 is probably my favorite console of all time. I definitely have MUCH appreciation and love for NES, SNES, and plenty of other systems, and there will always be a special place in my heart for those games and those glory days. But when I really sit back and think about not only my personal collection, but also a system with tons of games that I absolutely loved, it would have to be PlayStation 2. I'll add that I also fell in love with many PlayStation games as well - there are just tons of great classics that I thought were fantastic. I was always a huge RPG fan, and PlayStation (all generations) has had frankly a CRAZY amount of great RPGs. There are tons of great PS exclusives as well. There is a PlayStation Collecting Club here (check it out here!), but I would encourage people to feel comfortable talking about all consoles, all genres, in various places around here. As OP mentioned, VGS isn't just about Nintendo. Many of us love NES and Nintendo, but I would love to hear more about what other systems and games people are interested in.
  6. Fortunately, I don't think it was a majority of people who were engaging in such antics. I think it's important for people to remember that the majority of people who both planned and executed the new place, as well as a majority of users, came over here with positivity and didn't create trashy posts. As with most things, I hope that a few overenthusiastic or vocal people, don't create any sort of 'image' in some minds about what VGS is about. We have really worked hard to make sure that VGS is not just an NA alternative, but a new place and a sort of 'fresh start' - we welcome people with a broad variety of interests - gamers, collectors, developers, and we welcome discussion of more than just NES or Nintendo. And of course we have no direct ties to any of the popular companies that have been surrounded with a little bit of controversy lately. It is my hope that people can move on from whatever was before, enjoy the new place, and help make VGS the best it can be.
  7. Hello and welcome to VGS! I know that many of you are still exploring and discovering what VGS has to offer, including many features and settings that are different from what you might have been used to on other forums such as NintendoAge. We've received a lot of feedback so far about missing the "Latest Posts" or "Latest Topics" features that many of you are familiar with. Well, we have different ways to give you something similar here, and we hope even better! You can create custom "Activity Streams" here where you can save a number of different settings to customize exactly how you see activity. You can even share those custom streams with other members, or use templates that others have created. To get started, go to Activity -> My Activity Streams --> and select 'Create New Stream.' This will bring you to a 'Create New Stream' page where you can customize a variety of settings for what you would like to see and how. You can even name your Stream and share the link with other members. For example - choosing the following settings will create a custom activity stream that is similar to the "Latest Posts" feature you might be used to: Show me: Content items only Content Types: All Content Default View: Condensed Once you are happy with the settings, click "Save Changes" and it will show you what the stream looks like, as well as give you options to customize it further or change some settings. If you are satisfied with the stream and its settings, you can lock it in as your default stream by clicking the check mark next to 'Latest Posts:' You can also delete it or rename it from here. You can go to Activity --> My Activity Streams, to select which stream you'd like to check out going forward. If you've made a custom stream you really like and want to share - you can copy and share the URL. Here is a URL for the one we just made: https://www.videogamesage.com/discover/36/ The Custom Activity Streams give you a lot of flexibility in customizing the content that you see here at VGS, exactly the way you want to see it. Please feel free to play around with the settings and test them out to see how it works for your needs! If you have any questions about the activity streams, or if you've created some that you feel work particularly well and you want to share here for others, please let us know here! We hope this will be helpful as you become familiar with VGS and all of the features and options our new system provides.
  8. Absolutely! That's the beauty of the custom streams. You can customize it to whatever works best for your preferences. Rather than just having two options (like we had on NA), there are a number of different ways people can view and customize the activity they see. It will take just a bit of getting used to - but I think this system is actually much better.
  9. test to see if both posts show up in stream, or just the thread. Edit: After testing - I think the custom stream I shared does in fact do at least similar to what you asked. I've posted twice in this same thread, but it only shows up once on the activity stream for latest posts.
  10. @RH Does this give you what you need? https://www.videogamesage.com/discover/32/ If not - you might be able to further customize an activity stream to get exactly what you are looking for.
  11. Welcome to VGS! It is great to have you here with us and I hope you'll feel engaged and welcome to contribute / chat with us. I know that we had a lot of lurkers over at NA, for many different reasons - and while that is perfectly fine, we want people to join us and participate in conversations and activities.
  12. Welcome and glad to have you join us!
  13. Andy, Thanks for sharing and it’s great to have you here!! Keep up the great work!
  14. Who knows for sure. They have stated they will be transferring and making a new site on a different platform. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won’t, who knows. To be clear, VGS was in the works long before we found out about the NA server issue.
  15. Additional note - please don’t anyone be discouraged about what you see shared here or think that your contributions are not worthy. Sometimes simple is great! And you never know what will really click with people and get them excited. So I encourage anyone who wants to participate to share!
  16. I appreciate your respect and sentiment, but I don’t think you should hold back or handicap yourself. It’s not really about scoring the most points here or establishing who is a better artist. A choice here will be made based on many factors, including personality, style, quality, etc. and we want to see as many different takes on the concept as possible! If you have any ideas that you WANT to explore, I highly encourage you to put forth your best effort if that is something you have an interest in. I think it’s just as respectful to other artists to put forth your best than literally handicap yourself.
  17. I thought you guys might be interested in this....maybe hah. People often ask what sort of PlayStation things I'm talking about when I say I collect random and obscure items, mostly from Japan, so here is just one example of one of the sort of 'subsets' that I've been collecting over the years. I present to you a mini collection of Japanese PlayStation 2 Modem and Network-type Accessory / Hardware + Software releases. There are others, but these are most of the popular ones. Eventually, I think I'll make a blog or something to highlight some of the strange and interesting things I have, but in the meantime, checkout the pic! Maybe there is one other person out there in North America who actually cares about this stuff like I do!
  18. There's nothing wrong with discussing prototypes here and it is allowed and encouraged if people want to talk about them. When we setup some general areas here, we looked at the most active areas and conversation themes that occurred on NA, modified them slightly to fit a new vision for VGS, and went forward. It was certainly not a 'slight' toward prototype discussion in any way, nor an attempt to silence it. So if you wanna talk about those interesting prototypes - we'd LOVE for you or anyone to make some threads, chat about it, and more! As Gloves said, if enough people feel it needs a central area and focus, we can always revisit. We are just starting out here and getting TONS of feedback, suggestions, and comments about the site setup and layout (which is great!), so please be patient with us as we move forward, and remember that nothing is permanent as we can always revisit or change in the future. Thanks!
  19. Thanks for bringing this here and adding some new ones. Love it!
  20. I'll have to echo Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It has an amazing soundtrack. I also imported the soundtrack (5-discs!) from Japan and it was a bit pricy, but worth every penny. Aside from all the standard popular ones - the Final Fantasy, Chrono, well-known and beloved soundtracks, there are a few that I believe are underrated. Everyone talks about the super popular ones, but I love hearing about soundtracks that aren't quite as common. Stella Deus for PS2 - has an amazing soundtrack IMO. There is a standard OST and also an arrange album that is just beautiful music. I first discovered Stella Deus as it is an Atlus game, and the soundtrack by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata is just beautiful stuff. Link below. Valkyrie Profile for PS1 - another great soundtrack with some beautiful music. It is a Tri-Ace / Square game, most of which have great music. But I feel like Valkyrie Profile isn't talked about as much. It is a great game with awesome music. This one is by probably my favorite composer (or way up there at least) - Motoi Sakuraba. He has done so much amazing music! Nier for PS3 - I could rave about both this game, and the soundtrack, for days. If you haven't played the game - do it! As for the music, it is simply wonderful -- haunting, eerie, sometimes soft and beautiful, it is just fantastic. And the vocals by Emi Evans are just stunning. She has a beautiful voice. Nier was composed by Keiichi Okabe. Nier: Automata (PS4) also has a great soundtrack, with very similar themes reminiscent of Nier. There is a standard soundtrack, and also a piano album that is beautiful. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch for PS3 - Even though this game was disappointing to some, everything about the style and ambiance that was created just really resonated with me. Ni no Kuni will always have a special place in my heart, as it pulled together so many of my favorite artists and creative talent. It was developed by Level-5, and the music composer was Joe Hisaishi - who is pretty much legendary in my opinion and has composed so much great music - for video games and otherwise - that I don't even know where to start. The soundtrack for Ni no Kuni is a great instrumental journey, with a number of great 'epic' sounding pieces and interesting playful ones as well. I highly recommend it! I could go on for days with so much more. I thought about creating a Video Game OST blog to discuss soundtracks just like this and help to share them with people so others could enjoy if they haven't yet. I may still do that, but for now, I hope you'll checkout these below!
  21. I love Kwirk! Awesome, because I don't hear much talk about it. I am a huge ATLUS collector and that's how I discovered the game. It's pretty fun - somewhere around here I have an advertisement poster of it.
  22. Two space club all the way! Where are my 2-space friends! Join the rebellion!
  23. Man....say what you want about Billy - some hate him, some love him. But I can't deny, that hair is something legendary hah
