  1. I love it! Keep it going man. I like this style of write-up - it's a bit different and is kinda like taking a stroll through the game, bringing back memories of my own playthroughs. It's been a long time since I've gone back and played MGS[1], and this kinda makes me wanna play it, which is a good sign you're on the right track here. Keep em comin!
  2. Thank you very much to everyone who has shared here and for your participation! I love seeing all of the gifts, appreciation, and kind comments in the reveal threads. It is always a positive reminder for our community and I look forward to it every year. I really hope everyone enjoyed this year's Secret Santa as much as I did - I think for a first VGS Secret Santa event it was a big success and I hope to see many more in the future!
  3. See...this is where I want to address intellectual dishonesty. If you disagree with policies, or liberal platforms, ok sure, that is absolutely your prerogative and I don't even have the time nor want to argue with it. For example - hate Obama all you want, but I don't think most people can legitimately and reasonably actually argue that he isn't intelligent. He is well-traveled, well-educated, a graduate of Columbia and Harvard Law, elected to multiple local offices and elected and served not once, but twice as President of the US. If people disagree with his platform, ideology, motivations, or even sincerity - ok, sure, that is up to each individual and what they believe and perceive. But let's at least have the decency to be honest and fair. I would never say something like "all conservative politicians speak with the intelligence of a 5-year old," because it would be ludicrous, wildly inaccurate, and painting with a broad and generalized brush. There are "good guys" and "bad guys" on both ends of the political spectrum. Let's please not deceive ourselves and others into thinking that one end is perfect and the other is trash.
  4. I haven't really seen any legitimate, founded claims for impeachment against Obama, other than disagreements with his policy decisions and leadership. People can argue day and night about who is best for the country, whether he made good decisions or bad decisions, etc., but I have to imagine that if you took an average group of people and asked them - politics and policy agendas aside - which of the two individuals has done or said more things worthy of actual impeachment, that the 'winner' would be Trump. I don't agree with everything Obama did, but I did (do) respect him as a trustworthy and law-abiding individual a lot more than the current president. I'm not "happy" with the impeachment proceedings. I hate that it came to this, but I understand why. I really just look forward to the day when all this is behind us and things aren't as contentious. I don't expect that day to arrive any time soon, but I'm very much looking forward to it.
  5. Hey, whatever makes ya happy! I’m definitely not a “shaming” type for other collectors - if you wanna collect em all that’s great! Plus, to be fair, I do have at least a fair number of “bad games.” I am collecting (most all) Atlus games so it is a sort of “set,” and there are some bad ones. Same goes for the playstation demos I collect. At the end of the day, the best collection Imo is the one you enjoy the most - whatever that is. I love seeing other people’s collections here, especially ones that are wildly different from my own.
  6. Yeah - it seems pretty normal to me for people to want to collect games but not necessarily fullsets. I have never wanted a fullset for any system, as I just want the games....well, that I want. I like having the physical game collection, but I don't want a bunch of crappy games I'll never touch. I think it's fine if other people want fullsets, and that's great for them - but I don't think it's surprising that people want to collect partial sets.
  7. I was also disappointed in Slain. It just didn’t feel like there was much depth there and I got bored pretty quickly. I am definitely looking forward to checking out Blasphemous tho!
  8. This was my 'runner-up' in my 20-page thesis post in this thread haha! I think the game looks really cool so far, and I know the developer has the skills to pull off something great. I watched a few trailers and promos for the game, and the style looks really great. I am really looking forward to this game and hope it turns out really well!
  9. Welcome to VGS! Also, congrats on being the very first NA user, years before it even started I'm just givin' ya a hard time -- thanks for joining us here, and I'm glad you found us!
  10. Moved this to The Gauntlet There are so many games I'm really looking forward to in 2020 - I think it will be another great year in gaming with tons of fun stuff! Most Anticipated Sequel: If I had to pick one, my most anticipated game overall, and most anticipated sequel, would be Psychonauts 2 by Double Fine (Check it out HERE). I am SOOO looking forward to this. I LOVED the original Psychonauts game, and I'm nervously awaiting the sequel. I just really hope it has the same charm, humor, and execution of the first one. Psychonauts was a fantastic game that was just quirky, weird, funny, charming, and super-fun. The sequel has had a very weird and rocky development / funding cycle, but is planned for 2020 now so I'm crossing my fingers! Runner-Ups: * The Last of Us Part II -- the first game was fantastic, and I've loved almost everything Naughty Dog has made. * Ori and the Will of the Wisps * Nioh 2 -- actually a prequel to Nioh. * Oddworld: Soulstorm -- I have always loved the Oddworld series, and this game looks really good! Most Anticipated New Game: There is a beautiful new game hopefully coming out in 2020 for PS4, called Ghost of Tsushima, by Sucker Punch (Check it out HERE). This game looks absolutely stunning, and is an action-adventure / stealth type game. There were some rumors that it would be a PS5 launch title, but I believe those have been quashed and it will be released for PS4. I am really looking forward to it, and I hope that it plays as good as it looks. Runner-Up: * Cyberpunk 2077 --- This game looks like it is oozing with style. I just hope the gameplay is as good as the Cutscene videos ha! Most Anticipated Re-Make: No surprise here - it has to be Final Fantasy 7 Remake (check it out HERE). Final Fantasy 7 isn't even my favorite of the FF games, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't super excited for this re-make. I've watched several of the trailers and it just really gets me excited for this game. It's a 'remake,' but it also appears to be very different from the original - which I'm actually really excited for. I think some have been disappointed with the liberties taken with the remake, and the battle system - but I'm really looking forward to it! Runner-Up: * Trials of Mana -- I've been playing this from Collection of Mana on Switch, and I'm looking forward to the remake. Most Anticipated Spin-Off: I'll call this a sort of spin-off - new genre game - and that is Minecraft Dungeons (check it out HERE). It is a multiplayer dungeon-crawler game in the Minecraft universe - looks like a cross between Minecraft and Diablo, as strange as that sounds. I have always loved Minecraft and this game looks really fun and different! What interests me about this mostly, is playing the game with my brothers and nephew --- some of my best gaming memories in recent years have been playing Minecraft with them and just having fun together, so I'm looking forward to that. I'm sure there are a ton more games coming out for 2020 that I don't remember or don't even know about yet, but as I mentioned, I think it is going to be a fantastic year with tons of fun stuff. P.S. If by some miracle (yes, I know this is unlikely) Metroid Prime 4 comes out in 2020 (hah!), that would probably be somewhere above.
  11. I understand how you feel. I actually hoped that none of the old infamous threads from NA would be recreated here - and that we make our own new stuff with VGS. I noticed someone made a joel thread here, which I hope just dies to oblivion I'm R E A L L Y glad we did not name the new place purpleganon.com.
  12. Awesome - I started up FF12 again recently, after getting it on switch. I absolutely LOVED this game on PS2, and thought it was fantastic. It was probably my favorite of the PS2 FF games, and at the time, it was really beautiful-looking. A lot of people didn't like the combat, but I thought it was really interesting, and you could turn the more automated features off if you didn't like that. As I'm replaying it on Switch, I'm reminded of how much I enjoyed it. It doesn't have the same 'wow' factor visually as it did for me on PS2 of course, but there is just something about the characters, story, and environments in that game that just really resonated with me. It is super fun playing it again. Interestingly enough, mid-FF12, I also started replaying FF9 as it was on sale digitally for Switch and I picked it up. I'm about 15 hours into it, and yet again I'm reminded of just how much I love the game. There's something that is just really, I don't know, adorable about the game. I remember it feeling like such a breath of fresh air after 7 and 8, as a sort of return to the more fantasy-oriented style of some of the earlier FF games. I'm really enjoying them both atm.
  13. Ah, this is cool! I have always loved the Ys series and I've played most (not all) of the games, but I never got to this one. And while I really enjoyed the Vita, I'd definitely prefer to just play it on PS4 at this point. I didn't know about this, so thanks for sharing!
  14. Welcome aboard Jaden. Thank you for joining us here at VGS!
  15. It isn’t my favorite RPG on the system (tough competition there!) but I did enjoy it. It has been a long time since I played it though. I may give it another go at some point. I don’t replay RPGs much but I am currently replaying FF9 after beating it when it first came out (I love it hah!).
  16. I would definitely be interested, if we have some clear rules set in place and agreed, and a list of trustworthy members, sure! We can maybe do a test run with a smaller group at first? Many different ways to try it out, and we could create a club to track it.
  17. @MeganJoanne I know you've encountered lots of difficulties, but I am really happy for you that you seem to have a very positive outlook and some future ambitions, regaining some hope again. I wish you the best and I hope you accomplish your goals. Please hold on to this hope - it is precious, and powerful. Try to remember this feeling in any days ahead, where you may feel a bit lost at times. There is always hope somewhere. Have a great New Years and I hope the next year and beyond brings many good things for you.
  18. Welcome aboard and thanks for joining us! Not starting over completely...more like, beginning a new chapter!
  19. Hmmm....what do I want to accomplish over the next decade....a lot! Some big ones are: * Completely payoff my home mortgage and be debt free including home [currently on track for this] * Travel to a new country (or at the very least city), each year. I visited Costa Rica and Nicaragua this year, and plan to visit England and France in 2020. * Dream-trip to Japan within next 5 years * Try as many new cuisines as possible. I love trying new food and international cuisine. Game Related: * Pair down and refine / sell off a lot of general stuff in my collection * Finish my US PS2 Trade demo collection (only 5 remaining) * Finish my Japan PS2 Demo / taikenban collection (lots remaining) This final one may sound a bit cliche, but I just want to get as much out of life as possible. Too many people sit back and make goals like this with a sort of reservation that they will never happen. I am a firm believer in just really embracing these goals and planning to make sure they happen. I don't want to just talk about traveling more like it is some fantasy - I want to do it and am planning to make sure it happens. And even on the smaller scale - day to day basis --- there is so much to do and so much to enjoy. Don't just sit back and let life happen passively! I wish all of you the very best with your goals and dreams!
  20. This is really cool @BeaIank! I hope the event is really successful!
  21. You are so welcome Splain! I had a ton of fun shopping and pulling things together for this one! I should mention...I noticed when putting everything together, that Metroid Classic didn't have the game! eek (sorry about that!). I figured I'd send along the packaging anyway in case you get the game. I just didn't want you to go along thinking the game was in there and be surprised later! Merry Christmas!
  22. Thank you! I appreciate it very much and I’m glad your son got to join in on the fun! Tell him I said thanks!
  23. Thank you @captmorgandrinker for managing this and being a great Santy! It is really appreciated. And thank you very much to my secret santa! I got a nice assortment of ‘Bendy and the Ink Machine’ stuff including the switch game, and some interesting little japanese treats! I haven’t played Bendy yet but I love the art style and really have been wanting to try it. I love the figure and clips also! My secret santa really is secret, so thank you very much whoever you are — I appreciate the gifts and your time in doing something nice for me. I hope you enjoyed your gifts as well and have a great Christmas!
