  1. I always come back to Sub-Terrania. And all the classics SMG, Morrowind, Zelda, Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Diablo II, Doom, MGS, Out Run, Metroid Prime, etc.
  2. The game next to Fatal Fury 2 sure looks interesting.
  3. I changed from two spaces to one in college. I forgot what convinced me, but I was convinced somehow.
  4. I tried again this summer after that short Youtube documentary on blindfold Tyson speedrunners came out, then I just felt worse that I couldn't beat him and there was a whole community of people who do it blindfolded.
  5. $100-something dollars. Now that's gangsta.
  6. Yes GoCollect owns PRGE now. Oh, you mean the Nintendo Playstation.
  7. Everything about Castlevania III. I know it's a common answer, but the color palate, art style, even some effects are the finest on the NES even if it's not the tippiest top of what the NES can do technically. Gloomy reds and purples and blues and greens. It looks soooo good. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out is amazing, it consistently makes me go "whoa, this is on NES" despite being one of the most classic titles. Very emotive characters and even in their fighting styles they have real personality. The same year, this static end screen is how these tiny characters showed emotion
  8. I love Neverwinter Nights. It's the best D&D style game I've played until Divinity: Original Sin 2. I've started it at least 6-7 times. I get to act 4 or 5, then download some custom modules and play those instead.
  9. It sucks for any greater fools coming into the hobby that are actually looking to spend $100s on Mario 3 or $1000 on TLOZ. I feel like in the short term they're going to target the most mainstream popular stuff I've already owned for years, not some set filler or import I'd actually have to hunt for. If they want to make random games in my collection "worth" 20x more in a year, have at it. Why stop with Mario 3? It's not rare and it's not some historical first, it's just a game everyone loves. Hoard Super Mario Galaxy 2. It's one of the most critically acclaimed games ever and it's "just" $10. Now that's what I call an opportunity! How long until someone calls it "The Super Mario Bros. 3 of the Wii?" $100 by Christmas?
  10. If by technically better you mean full of massive slowdown because they didn't have time to make their modified copy paste of Mega Man 2 run smoothly, then yes Mega Man 3 is technically better than Mega Man 2.
  11. Wow, had no idea Newgrounds started as a Neo Geo fanzine. Weird.
  12. OOT, SM64, Doom, SMB3, Metroid Prime. Hard hitting hidden gems that no one else likes, I know.
  13. In very broad strokes, I'd say NES has more history for most collectors, SNES has more timeless gameplay for most players. NES has more way more "firsts" and genre-defining games, whereas many SNES classics are sequels that expanded and bettered existing concepts. On NES you can see certain genres grow up from Kung Fu to Castlevania III, while SNES has technical powerhouses in well defined genres like Castlevania IV and F-Zero out of the gate. I never really see an SNES game and think "Oh that's an old SNES game". NES just has way more depth and nuance to collecting. It's 2019 and you can still argue about set lists. Why does your unlicensed list have two Impossible Mission IIs but no Sharedata Chiller? Are Sachen games US releases? Does Cheetahmen II even count? Can I call Myriad 6-in-1 a variant? (No, you can't) SNES has fewer unlicensed games, oddballs, and homebrew, so there's a lot less to branch out into beyond plain old licensed games.
  14. I got 49. I didn't even remember Kung Fu.
  15. Those shelves are sick. How long until you need to do the other two walls ;)
  16. Do you need perler beads, anime tchotchkes, and $30 loose Famicom commons though??
  17. Video games and music 24 hours a day for 3 days. The marketplace sucks, the arcade is alright, the music is awesome! And NES homebrew guys show up so you can probably play some Commie Killer.
  18. This is the most ridiculous one yet. Friggin' Aladdin for $100, lol. There are currently 2 sealed SNES Lion Kings on Ebay for $100. One's pretty banged up. One is kind of decent. Up to 4500 people are going to choose to buy this Funko Pop shelf candy over a real new copy of the original game which is bananas to me.
  19. First year I won't be going Going to too many things this year (like my honeymoon) and something had to be cut. MAGFest is like 3 days off work minimum, plus however long the con hangover lasts! Have fun guys.
  20. Hello newbie. It's OK, you can go at your own pace, but you'll have a hard time catching up to us elite collectors. Check out my current collection:
  21. I've been using the WES51 for about 6 years, good stuff.
  22. M82 and no M8? No sealed TLOZ? Haven't graded your Ninja Gaiden III? Dusty Diamonds only a 9.8 A++? You've got a good starter collection mate, I can't wait to see what it's like once you get serious about it
  23. Loose SE I'm hoping loose games, set collecting, and bad games only popular because they're rare lose interest long term. SE still has a cool story behind it, so I don't think it will ever be "affordable" but it doesn't have enough going for it for me to put serious "investment" money into it. I can buy a $100 game that I think might be worthless one day, I can't afford to put $10,000 into a loose cart that might lose most of it's value one day. Loose Hagane. Same deal. I'm waiting for the right price/condition and I'm in no rush to overpay for the shitty copies all over the place.
