10/10 - Super Mario Bros. 3 is my favorite Mario game, and it is the actual best Mario game ever made.

Yeah it is better. SMB 3 is one of those experience trips where in it's time you're excited about how a suit changes the gameplay or the fact that there are hidden areas. But once those excitements wear off there's a lot less to it.
