  1. I had a similar experience with Secret of Evermore. I was 100% convinced as a kid that the game had a two player mode where the second player could control the dog. Both my cousin and I swore that we had played it like that before, but when we rented it again, we couldn't get it to work. We tried for hours, pushing every combination of buttons possible on the second controller, but eventually gave up. This was before the days when every single fact could be easily located on the internet, so we eventually ran out of ideas and gave up.

Looking back on it, I have to assume that we had played Secret of Mana in multiplayer and our brains transferred that experience to Evermore, but it's still crazy to remember something so vividly and find out it's completely false.

Don’t take it as scripture though. There’s at least one fictitious entry in my list. I don’t want to post the full list until CGC, and Wata are all settled up.

This kind of info is especially valuable to CGC and I want them to establish their database first before giving up 10 years of work for free 😛

The community can have it for free, but if they want to license out the info for commercial use then I’m all ears.

Also, there are still potential for things I missed, or purposely excluded.

I’m going to expand it later to separate out variants even further.

    Circle, HT, No REV-A / 5 Screw

    Circle, No-HT, No REV-A / 5 Screw

    Circle, No-HT, No REV-A / 3 Screw

    Circle, No-HT, REV-A / 3 Screw

Oval TM, 3 Line Warranty / 3 Screw

Oval TM, 4 Line Warranty  / 3 Screw

    Oval R, 3 Line Warranty / 3 Screw

    Oval R 4 Line Warranty / 3 Screw

Oval R Red box warranty / 3 Screw

For cartridges I’m also going to include back labels and stamp numbers since they seem to matter.

Black boxes and other early first party would also add…

    Matte Sticker Seal

    Gloss Sticker Seal

    No NES-GP

    No NES P XX

    No TM NES Logo

    TM NES Logo

    R NES Logo

and further for carts it would include Made in Japan, NES-XX-USA.

Anything that doesn’t fit neatly in these categories would be considered a major variant.

This means things as large as FFF: Athletic World, and as small as Roger Clemens’ (R) on SoQ size are unique entries.

Unlicensed is its own thing all together and I’m still working on.

R vs TM SoQ seems like it's going to be the biggest pain in the ass. Godspeed.

Going through my collection and noticed a wall street kid with hangtab. Noticed it isn't on your list...did sellers put on hang tabs second-hand?

This type of third party, adhesive hangtag is a bit different than the hangtabs referred to in this thread.

True hangtabs are a part of the cardboard box itself and can be found only in early releases. The hangtag you've shared can be found on any game that a retailer decided to defile with boxart-ruining adhesives. See below for a picture of a true cardboard hangtab.

  4. I've heard over and over again that the campaign for this game is fantastic. I booted it up a couple years back and played the first hour or so, but nothing really stood out in that short play session. Unfortunately, I haven't been back since. I'd really love to get to it someday but life just keeps happening and they keep releasing more damn games!

On a side note, I played the heck out of the originally Titanfall which was multiplayer only. It ia honestly one of the best multiplayer FPS ever designed. I'm guessing 2 has an even better online component, but again, life.

I recently started playing a bit of Apex Legends lately which takes place in the Titanfall universe and has a very similar style. I generally despise battle royale games, but it is a fine piece of software and it's free to boot.
