  1. Oh wow, didn't realize that game had jumped that much even before the CM episode. According to my data sheet i paid $10, but not sure how long ago that was.
  2. I used to be an employee at a funcoland. I remember how much they made us push cleaning kits onto customers as part of our up-sell. When school was in session, i spent the majority of my time exploring the used games we had as it was generally dead until around 3pm. Also seemed to be a quasi babysitter for parents looking to do some shopping sans kids. haha Sometimes i also think back and wonder how many "rare" and/or valuable games (by today's standards) passed through my hands. Back then i wasn't really a collector in the same way i am today, was just looking to own games i thought looked fun.
  3. I had a huge crush on Nancy Wilson when I was a young lad of the 80's I really dig them, both 70s and 80s Heart. Ann has an amazing voice.
  4. My son and I have played since the beginning. At level 38 currently. 7931 9114 0507
  5. Shit, didn't know the steelbook was coming to North America. Guess I'll cancel my Gamestop and buy from Target.
  6. Are we discussing which franchise you subjectively prefer or objective facts on who has more significance? I guess I'm a little confused on what you're trying to argue. Mario is the mascot of Nintendo, this isn't up for debate. He has headlined his own series and also appeared in numerous franchises which include games in almost every genre imaginable. Super Mario, Mario Kart, Mario Sports, Mario RPG, Mario Party. They are building a Nintendo theme park at Universal Studios which is themed entirely around Mario. Go to Nintendo's own website and everything is Mario themed in both Japan and North America. Both Mario Sunshine and Mario Odyssey outsold Wind Waker and BoTW respectively BTW. BoTW came out 7 months prior to Odyssey and still lags behind Mario. Mario Kart is the top selling switch game. https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/software/index.html Mario is on top of the hill no matter how you look at it. Zelda is absolutely a second tier franchise in terms of overall impact on gaming as a whole. You could even make the argument that Pokemon is actually the 1-2 punch and not Zelda. You are certainly welcome to having your opinion about which series you prefer (which i'd agree with you as I value Zelda more) but looking at the overall picture, Mario is in a class of his own.
  7. I don't agree with this at all. Mario is the mascot of Nintendo and the most recognizable character in gaming. The sales of the Mario series absolutely dwarf Zelda. Mario sits on top of the hill for ALL of gaming and it's not even close.
  8. oh shit, I completely forgot about this game. I remember being really excited at the reveal, but it fell off my radar. Definitely picking this up.
  9. Dreamcast could be fun. Small library and lots of quality games.
  10. Congrats! Looks great in that retail case. Any plans for completing more sets in the future?
  11. Going to be a while before we actually get to play it, but oh boy does it look GOOD. So excited they made it more in the style of D1&2. I did really enjoy 3 too, but the graphics had a different feel from the first two that I didn't like as much. Still a great game though.
  12. Yeah, I agree with this. It's rare enough that you just have to go with your gut on what you're comfortable paying for it. I think it's a really cool jacket and would love to own one, so for a "brand new" one, $650 doesn't seem unreasonable.
  13. wow, that's quite the jump from $60 to <$250 in about 6 months. Definitely a rare title, so prices will simply depend on who's looking for a complete set at any given time. Looks like a sealed copy sold in June for $220. I did notice in the sellers listings that he has "holy grail" Jewel Time Deluxe sealed for $2,500. I can't image it'll ever sell for anywhere near that price, but what do I know.
  14. second on the awesomeness of Really Useful Boxes. They are the best totes I've owned.
  15. I think something that mirrored what GVN currently offers would be fine for me. I use it as a collection tool and also as a spot price checker when I'm out in the wild looking for games. Anything beyond those two items are a bonus.
  16. Definitely very excited to finally play this, it looks incredible graphics wise. Might be best on the system.
  17. Any thoughts on a book choice for November? I think Super Mario is a good choice for a starter book, but open to anything. Still need to look on Amazon for more books. Been a busy week, but I'll try to look tomorrow.
  18. Yeah, don't really get what they're thinking charging that much. Is there really a market for something like this at that price level? I'd rather just own the originals....which I do lol.
  19. Currently playing Links Awakening. Really enjoying the music so far. Never played it when I was younger, so a completely fresh experience for me.
  20. Assuming you're talking about the pack in slips that came with games, they were used for marketing purposes and to collect data. Sometimes I'd get mailers from companies that I sent the reg card into which included everything from postcards advertising upcoming releases to VHS promo videos.
  21. I tend to use a combination of GVN & PC along with checking sold listings to try and gauge what something is "worth". However, i only use them as ballparks since condition isn't taken into consideration and some sales data is hard to gauge due to rarity.
  22. Super Mario could be interesting. I've read the other two, but I'm not opposed to reading again. Maybe we wait to see if we can get some more people involved with suggestions? I'll take a look on Amazon to see if I can find some more ideas.
  23. very cool stuff. The train controller is definitely a highlight and something I've never seen before. Thanks for sharing!
