I went with not one particular system. I'm trying to go for a few complete retail sets and others I have contemplated (like PS2 & Switch) but I think I will just go for a more curated approach to their libraries.

I guess it’s nothing in particular now since I completed NES, SNES, N64, and VB.

The older systems I have I don't really collect for since  I bought them  (and the games) back when they were current - I suspect most people here would cry if they saw the prices I paid versus what stuff goes for now.

I do buy a lot of switch games - including collectors/limited if they have enough goodies that I feel make them worth the extra price.

I don't collect for one system in particular. I mostly buy imported games and games for NES, GameCube, and Switch, but occasionally PS1, PS3, Xbox 360, Game Boy, and Arcade games as well (got a Pac-Man Arcade1Up machine a month or so ago).

I collect many systems, beginning with NES.

It would be more worth mentioning the systems I don’t collect for:

-Turbografx
-Virtual Boy
-Saturn
-Dreamcast
-Xbox
-PS3

Good and interesting games, regardless of console.  SNES is by far my largest, followed by NES, but I haven't bought anything for either system in many years.

I collect other things now that I've completed the Game Boy set. But if I lost one of those games or something, that would be top priority.

You should collect for those systems.

I voted SNES since that's the system I have the most games for, but it's really a mix with NES a close second. Current counts (including imports):

SNES: 361
NES: 341
Genesis: 142
N64: 119
Gamecube: 102
GBA: 68
GB: 57
DS: 40
GBC: 24
3DS: 19
Sega CD: 15

No idea what my library breakdowns are, but it's 100+ on basically every console heavy.  But for the last few years it's been 95% Switch and PS4/PS5.  Partially because I already have a significant number of the titles I want on earlier systems, partially because many of them are cost prohibitive, and partially because the simple reality is I am much more likely to play a remake or remaster of a Raycrisis or Dead Space because I can do it with a wireless chargeable controller, with HDMI, with my nice recliner in front of my 65" TV.  I love my giant CRT in my man cave, but there are certain headaches associated with playing older games, so modern conveniences are nice.  November collecting haul to showcase this:

So I guess my answer depends on the timeframe we're talking about.
