  1. This thread makes my head hurt. Play the games how ever you want and cheating only applies to contests.
  2. I remember when his 'older' videos were new. My friends and I loved them because it was refreshing to hear someone yell at these things that we all were familiar with. It was incredibly satisfying and entertaining. Of course it was blown out of proportion but there was nothing like it. "Yeah that Dam level DID suck!". I dont know if its 'revisionist' history but I will always prefer his older stuff because it was more passionate and relate-able to people my age. Still really dig the new stuff but I love the vitriol of the older stuff, especially since there was so much to go on. Now its harder to find that kind of stuff.
  3. I work at an electronics store and MY GOD the amount of corrosive batteries I see in Wii controllers drive me nuts. Whats odd though is that if they're not corrosive and get power, they almost are never bad. Game Gear is pretty bad too. And Xbox 360... ugh.
  4. Im too lazy to check if I responded already but its very fitting for today.
  5. I have no idea why people made a big stink over that kid winning the title. The whole idea was it was a handicap match. IIRC the kid didn't even do anything. It was supposed to be a huge face move. Then of course they'd have to take it off of him cuz he wasn't a real wrestler or something. It was all to stick it to who ever forced Braun to pick a partner. I think I got that right.
  6. I must be the only one but I could not CARE LESS about what happens. I think its funny but I can't get wrapped up in this nonsense. Im glad this is here and thats that.
  7. I would like to see this! Ok I'm not an expert with the details but this is why PAL games don't always work for US/NTSC systems, even past the lockout chip. I think this is pretty accurate unless someone with a bit more knowledge can clean this up. Because PAL, or other countries use different voltages and frequencies for their power grids. We use 120V / 60hz. Europe uses 220V / 50hz. I think because of this the TVs refresh rates are different (Slower than the US) as well as the actual display resolution for the TV. 256x240 for US and 256x226 for PAL. Had to look those up. Now because of these differences, the actual CPU and GPU chips on PAL NES' are DIFFERENT and are intended for those issues. The PAL versions have a slower clock rate (or speed) than the NES versions. This is why when you use a PAL game on a US system, it runs too fast, as well as the sound, because the sound comes from the CPU. Some games the graphics are off because the PAL NES systems had a different color palette to suit European TVs. Some PAL NES games (I dont know how) I think can detect if the system its being used on is PAL or NTSC and can modify its speed in order to run properly. I think Rodland and Hammerin Harry do this. Otherwise the games for PAL systems were programmed FOR those systems, so certain ways they used the code when they expect the screen to refresh, doesn't work the same way, hence graphical glitches/random crashing. Also IIRC PAL is easier to use because everything is more symmetrical, like the metric system, where as in the US its a pain because things aren't perfectly even. Also, other countries like Japan and Chile use NTSC for whatever reason. This is why games work well and a lot of the rare US NES games went over to Chile. Had they went to, lets say, France they wouldn't work. Handhelds are also region free because they don't rely on AC adapters (usually) but by DC current like batteries. I think if they are region locked is usually physically or programmed into the system. Finally, PAL A and B were only used to differentiate locations. PAL A - UK, Italy and Australia (I think) PAL B - Everywhere else in Europe (I think)? Like Germany, France, Sweden. TL:DR version: PAL NES games were programmed for European electrical grids & systems. They dont always work in the US because we use a different grid.
  8. I must bet he opposite, I find it MUCH easier to drop big money on games I want than $3 for something like Pocahontas for GB. Which is why I dont go for full sets. Its the junk I can't stand to own.
  9. I can't remember asking you, but was the Super Turrican NTSC proto faster than the PAL version? I think there are a few games that run the same speed both PAL and NTSC because of how it was programmed (I wanna say Hammerin Harry and Rodland). I beat Super Turrican on my toploader when it ran fast and thought it was ok. But got an AVS and put it in PAL and it ran more like how I thought it should. PAL games are great. Ive also always said if Gimmick was released in the US, it would easily be the most expensive game for the system (Minus SE but I dont exactly count that one)
  10. Im not a huge fan of "Uncle Dave" but I think he nailed it pretty well on this. You can find it on youtube.
  11. I listen to him every week and I didn't hear that suicide comment. There are just people out there that are trying to find any reason to take town people they dont like. A few weeks before he read a letter he got about someone oversees who's brother committed suicide and how bad he left to hear it.
  12. Im a bit disappointed with Jim because he gave em an inch and they took the mile. I love him and I love his mind for wrestling and think he did the right thing stepping down because he wants the product to succeed even without him. I dont think what he said was that awful, but when you're on thin ice like that, you cant give anyone any ammo against you. Someone mentioned Dutch Mantel to replace and I think that would be a really good fit. I kinda have mixed opinions with this whole AEW style and more traditional style, but i'll just watch and like what I like and not care for anything else.
  13. I was always under the impression that big actors are picked because of their ability to get people to watch and sell that movie. Like the Rock. Not a great actor, but they know if they put him in the movie, more people are going to go see it which raises his value. They give him 20 mil for a movie, because its gonna make them 100 mil. Im not sure how advertising works in that way, unless the movie needs product placement to get some money to fund the movie. Am I wrong?
  14. Those people get paid because of their skill and/or ability to sell whatever project their in. Youtubers get paid from advertising and the more people click the more money they make regardless of their content. Also for both of those professions, to a VERY VERY VERY small percentage of the people that are involved in it, it IS a career. I do music and trust me theres no career in it except for an incredibly select few that is playing or riding on whats currently popular. So to get started in it, its something you'd have to do for love and maybe you'll get lucky. Otherwise if you're hedging your bet you're gonna make it, you're probably gonna mess up the rest of your life. I try to tell this to my students. Now if this was 25 years ago, it could be a different story.

  16. I agree! But since they're lesson video for music, I doubt I can really make anything off of them. Plus I think the ads would be annoying. BUT its for my bandpage so we could do it for those but the disparity is huge haha. I put a video a month ago that got almost 30k views while my band stuff has been up for like 8 months and has like 500 lol. Still I agree with what you say.
  17. Its funny because my channel just got monetized last week and to me it doesn't mean 'oh i get to make money!' but validation that people are interested in what I have to say.
  18. I always felt these things are always ruined by people to try to find a way to be famous/make money with the least amount of work possible. ASMR vids, unboxing vids (yeah I think this is stupid), reaction videos, etc. I LOVE youtube for all the cool stuff you can learn and find content from people no matter how niche your tastes are. I do these guitar lesson videos on a very niche guitar player and people have asked me to do a pateron and stuff and I say no. Within that is the pressure to keep on providing videos no matter how lame because it'll get views and it becomes a whole mess. I do it cuz I love it and I have a normal job that pays for it. I would never give that up to spend my entire time trying to get people to watch my stuff and think of every possible clickbate/viewbate video I can think of.
  19. About DK Math, I think what Bronty and I are thinking might be more likely. But the only way to tell is from the box and that I dont know anything about. I'd say if you find more of those unusual DK Math boxes, i'd jump on board.
  20. Ill have to upload pics of my stuff if thats what you want. Still looking for that damn 5 screw Gotcha but not paying a fortune for it! Grr.
  21. I like the asterisks. I feel those are very important to distinguish something that exists and something that could be a one off. I dunno why the asterisk for Stadium Events. Its such a rare game go begin with having so little 5 screw games make sense. Plus its right in the middle of the 3 screw transition period. I forgot what the first 3 screw game was.
  22. Im not a huge fan, but one of the greatest front men/singers of all time paired with an incredibly smart and interesting guitar player. They also played the greatest concert of all time at '85 wembly. I always thought of them as the Beatles with more talent in playing their instruments but a little less in the songwriting. Not a bad thing! But not too many bands I can think of who's songs are so eclectic like the Beatles. Thats REALLY, REALLY tough to do. Also Brian May has one of the greatest pinch harmonics in guitar history in "We Are The Champions".
  23. Talespin for NES. First new NES game i've beaten in a long time. Someone gave me some PS2 junk so I sold it to a store and had to get some NES stuff.
