  1. I'm still holding out on Bitcoin. I'm all in on Sega CD and 32X though.
  2. Pretty much everyone agrees we're approaching bubble territory. If the Biden administration can manage this with a steady hand, we should just see stocks slow their growth and hopefully avoid a crash. Still, I think there's a decent chance we'll get a correction in 2021 and that will be a good time to buy. Now if you're talking about long term investing (i.e. retirement), the only strategy you need is buy and hold. The best time to buy is simply whenever you have money to spare. The reason 401ks are so amazing is because people steadily contribute throughout the year. That means your bad buys are negated by good buys and the market just steadily climbs. In that scenario, index funds and bonds are the only things you need to buy. Almost everything I own at this point are index funds. And the few stocks I do own are reliable heavy hitters (Amazon, Microsoft, Netflix, Apple, Walmart, etc).
  3. I'm seriously considering moving all my money into bonds or even cash for a few months. I can't control every single aspect of my 401ks and 529s, but I have total management of my IRAs. This is getting scary.
  4. If you have more money now than when you started, you did well. If that money had have been parked in a savings account, it would have just been making your bank rich instead of you.
  5. Whole. But in multiple bites. Also, I prefer the Mint Oreos. Those are delicious.
  6. Oooh, which level is that? I'm on 4 right now.
  7. Man, I really, really, really need to play this. I've probably bought it 3 or 4 times, but have never sat down with it. I'm sure I'd love it too. Should have put it on the backlog list.
  8. I've also been playing Cyber Shadow. I'd call it an action platformer and it's a ton of fun. I love when this type of retro game is done well and this one nails the NES ninja aesthetic and gameplay.
  9. Since the NES set is so hard to complete due to Stadium Events cost/rarity, how about a badge for those who have the full set minus SE? It could be a picture of a NES with big letters over it that read "Phony," "Fraud," "Poser," or a similar insult. A little light-hearted ribbing, but still a nice way to show the accomplishment.
  10. The irony here is that all of the major retail investment firms are publicly-traded companies themselves, so they are extremely sensitive to the demands of the hedge funds and other big investors who own them! So even if the SEC doesn't intervene, they can pressure the trading companies and still win this battle by forcing these companies to halt trading. If you can't win a fair fight, fight dirty.
  11. Don't be so hard on yourself! You made all the right moves on this one. Only a select few could have seen the bigger bump coming (people in analytics at the big traders who also happen to have a deep understanding of Reddit culture) and I don't believe for a second that DFV knew this would truly happen. As Steve Miller would say, take the money and run!
  12. Man, I got a 65" LG E6 in 2016 and it is as close to life-changing as a TV can be. And of course the new TVs are significantly better than my 5 year old one. Enjoy it.
  13. Played through level 3 last night and it was a lot of fun. Boss was a bit too easy and I beat him on the second try, but still enjoyed it. They introduce a weapon cheekily called the Swag Blade in reference to Ninja Gaiden (NES) speedrunning which is pretty cool. I also got two new abilities. I probably won't do repeat playthroughs, but I think hard mode is probably going to be a better difficulty balance for this game.
  14. This year is gonna be a pain in the ass for me. Worked in GA as a TX resident while serving in the Army, wife worked in GA as a GA resident, got out of the Army, had a baby, moved to NC, now I work in SC and wife works in NC, hired a nanny, bought and sold a house, took an IRA distribution, and recharacterized an IRA contribution. Still waiting on W2s and other tax docs, of course. So yeah... I'm gonna be hiring a CPA this year.
  15. Sounds like you're pretty qualified to me. You recognized an undervalued stock, bought it at a great price, QUADRUPLED your money, then sold at twice the actual valuation of the stock right at the end of an insane short squeeze. You literally played this perfectly. Anyone who started in your position and then held above $40 was being reckless. GME is up another $110 (30%) in pre-market trading right now. I think trading will be halted today as the SEC sorts out what it wants to do.
  16. So what happens if they can't cover their calls? Does the stock plummet? I've heard that the really big hedge fund shorts have all covered at this point and gotten out.
  17. There are an infinite number of trades you could have made, so there's no point in picking apart what you didn't do. Instead, just look at the trades you did make. If those were good, then you did well. End of story.
  18. 150 for NA so it's quite bit bigger than the NA Master System library and four times bigger than the 32X library.
  19. I'm interested in any PCE games that weren't released in NA and aren't sports games. I don't know the catalog well, so I'm kind of just exploring based on what people have for sale.
  20. We all knew that the ultra rich would not allow this to continue indefinitely. They have outsized government influence, no matter what administration is in charge. I will be shocked if the SEC doesn't go after the biggest earners, successfully prosecute them, then bail out the hedge funds.
