  1. Since starting on Master System, 32X, and Sega CD, I'm enjoying Sega CD collecting the most. It's pretty accessible, but still has some high end stuff that is interesting. And the hard cases allow you to take risks on stuff with cracks and dings on the outside since they often still have mint inserts. Also, I'm pretty sure my new mailman hates me. See if you can spot @Tabonga's favorite game mixed in this post.
  2. No major variant at least. Could be TM/R variants, but I don't track that.
  3. That Asteroids cabinet looks fantastic. It pairs perfectly with the brick wall in the background. Nice setup!
  4. Anyone need a "sealed" Track and Field 2? SEEMS LEGIT He also has several other insane descriptions on resealed games.
  5. I think initially it was mostly speculation on the introduction of new consoles and the big bump seen in pandemic gaming. The last 10-20% was probably short sellers. I think their only real advantages over competitors at this point are the sheer number of storefronts and their name recognition (which is fading fast). If a big online competitor wanted to make a splash in retail, they could partner with Gamestop or purchase half of those locations to give buyers immediate release day pickup options. Gamestop gets a cut of the sale and a chance to sell you a shitty subscription while Amazon/Walmart saves by shipping in bulk. Match made in heaven. But I've been wrong too many times to count. Sold both GM and Tesla early this year because I got sick of GM's floundering price and Musk's media missteps. I can still hear the lost upside taunting me in my dreams.
  6. Just saw this on Twitter! Congrats to you and your son! I'll definitely be picking it up.
  7. Man, the stock market is so weird: https://www.fool.com/amp/investing/2021/01/17/gamestop-stock-surges-100-in-2-days-but-it-wont-la/ (Unnecessary rant about capital gains taxes and income equality behind spoiler tag) But to bring it back to GameStop. Great call, Jone. I really thought they were dead in the water and it looks like a lot of recent shorts thought so too. I still see them playing only a minor role in gaming in the future, but they've navigated a rough patch surprisingly well. I don't think they have a long game though. By letting so many Steam competitors get up and running (GOG, Epic, and dozens of other smaller storefronts), I think their window as a truly competitive digital retailer has passed.
  8. Nah, it's just a variant. I'm not sure which one is the original release, but both boxes are available on eBay right now.
  9. Very true. Personally, I just went with a repro standard size box for my WCTM, but everyone has their own preference. I also have one for Miracle and other combo pack-in carts that never had a box. Now that I think about it, I should get one for Stack-Up so my shelves truly hold every game.
  10. Even better, if it's the original Bandai release, look inside for a CIB copy of the first version of Athletic World. That's worth some serious coin.
  11. No idea about accuracy or usability, but try this site: https://gamepreorders.com/. My advice is to just pretend preorder bonuses don't exist. They are just FOMO machines.
  12. When retailer-specific bonuses started getting out of hand, I noticed people on Reddit tracking that kind of stuff. Unfortunately there is no central database, so you'd have to go game by game with no guarantee regarding accuracy. Perhaps you can be the person to consolidate the info?
  13. Now that's a sophisticated solution. Add 20 more of those and you've got a Pokemon wall!
  14. I actually tried mining Bitcoin when it was first released, but gave up since my computer sucked and I figured it was a waste of time. We all know how that turned out. Bitcoin is pretty fascinating in that it's supposed to be a currency but it's traded as a commodity. Now that you can buy it on PayPal I'm watching it a little more closely as a legitimate investment option. If it nosedives like it did in late 2018, I might invest $10,000, but only looking for short term gain. I would never recommend it as a long term hold since at some point I think will truly bottom out and stay there. But hey, I was extraordinarily wrong ten years ago.
  15. My best buddy from Med School stopped by for a quick jam session on his way moving across the country. We had a few beers and played Rampart, Trog!, and TMNT3 on the NES. I have to say that TMNT3 is way too easy on coop. We easily made it 2/3 of the way through the game while intentionally attacking each other dozens of times. Still a ton of fun though.
  16. I love how fast everything goes in this thread. People really doing God's work here and posting the deals.

    My WTB List

I'm sure I have at least a couple of these for you. Feel free to hit me up on PM if you don't hear back from me in a week.
  18. I felt the same. I enjoyed it, but wasn't blown away. 3D World should be fun with my son though.
  19. The console looks pretty cool and I feel like this could be the tipping point for whether I collect Switch console variants or not. Must... resist...
