  1. @Tanooki Just drop it and cut it out. This thread has had enough ridiculous arguing and negativity and it needs to stop.
  2. @Estil Please use the other thread that is in the Selling subforum, instead of this one. As it stands you have two threads going on at the same time
  3. I have an alternative recommendation / request, if something more recognizable and older. And it is Spud from Spud's Adventure for Gameboy! He so cute!
  4. If you could do the Benny Bookworm character from an old PC Edutainment game 'Word Rescue' I would be very happy The game was released by Apogee in 1992, and I played it right around that time when I was younger. sprite: screenshots: He flies around and helps you, sometimes sliming the enemies.
  5. It was an open auction. You paid what you were comfortable with paying. And you seem to be happy with the purchase. Therefore, nothing else really matters
  6. Yeah - there are definitely plenty of items that I've been after for years, and can't find a single copy available on any marketplace, globally. There are others that I was finally able to obtain, but took many years to get. It's definitely not all about spending the most money, when it comes down to really rare / uncommon items. As limited as Stadium Events is, it seems it is always possible to buy one if you throw out enough money.
  7. I loved the previous show and REALLY looking forward to this. Can’t wait!!!
  8. Thanks for sharing DarkKobold! I was curious about where it all started. This is not to knock all the people who have dedicated years to collecting popular sets like NES - but, if everyone's collection was the same set of NES games, it'd be much less interesting to talk with other collectors. So I always find it neat when someone is going after more obscure items. I definitely understand how it can be a challenge. I'm going after PS2 (US and Japan) demos myself, and several of them, it isn't even about how much money it costs - it's about even finding one for sale. That can be really challenging and take many years. Either way, definitely congratulations on getting this one! As I said, I know some others who were very legitimately interested, but they are happy to know where it landed.
  9. @DarkKobold I meant to ask previously in the thread - but switching gears back to something more fun and positive - what first got you interested in Super A'can? It's definitely a unique / niche system, that I know most people aren't collecting or even aware of. Collecting for NES / having a fullset there, is obviously cool as well, but I think it's neat when people are collecting obscure systems and sets as well, so it's neat to see a completed collection there!
  10. Yeah - the auction was pretty popular and I was watching this one throughout. I just meant... that he didn't pop in here bragging about it with specific dollar amounts.
  11. This thread took a really bizarre and at times embarrassing direction. @DarkKobold - you didn't do anything wrong and I have no idea why you got the raining on your parade at times. I'd like to point out that OP never specifically said the exact amount he paid - just that it was expensive. OP also never said this is the rarest game of all time. And yes, the game absolutely IS very rare - way more rare (and in my opinion more interesting) than stadium events, yet people spend way more on Stadium Events often. People have been spending 10 figures and higher on games way less rare, for a long time now. Whether that is 'reasonable' or not, is up to each person's perspective, but I'm not sure why this particular transaction would be so scrutinized. It's a very rare game, with a niche demand. I know of at least one other party who was very seriously interested and raising funds to bid on this, but backed out. I took this thread to be DarkKobold excited about his set and sharing it, which is cool to see. I didn't at all get any vibes of him completely showboating or being ridiculous. What would normally be an interesting set and discussion, somehow got derailed into weird semi-related arguments and for what? I don't know.
  12. @DarkKobold Congrats on completing your set! I know how difficult it is to complete this set, so I'm sure it must feel incredibly rewarding. Don't let other people's negativity, jealousy, and/or whatever it is, undermine your accomplishment here. We all have various collecting and gaming goals, and it's nice when we can achieve them, and it's very cool to see people sharing about it. That should be something we can all understand and can be supportive about.
  13. I gave it an 8. What I loved about this game, was how new and different it felt at the time playing. It was a unique experience, at least in the West, and I actually liked the exaggerated, almost ridiculous characters. It was very entertaining and has a certain... charm to it. If I were to analyze the game very critically, I could nitpick a few things or determine it isn't some absolutely stellar game in terms of gameplay, but the full package and presentation was very interesting to me, and kept me engaged. It has been a while since I played it, for sure, but I remember really liking it at the time.
  14. Pre-ordered! This game is super fun and polished, definitely check it out if you can!
  15. Hello and welcome! Sounds like you have some interesting experience and interests. Thanks for the great intro and glad to have you here!
  16. These aren't manuals for that specific product, but they are manuals for other Mad Catz steering wheels. Perhaps they could be useful in some way? Not sure: https://web.archive.org/web/20030705113416/http://madcatz.com/MadCatz/downloads/manuals/6320UG.pdf https://web.archive.org/web/20030705055148/http://madcatz.com/MadCatz/downloads/manuals/8020UG.pdf And a brief FAQ from their archived product page, which probably won't be all that helpful, but just in case: https://web.archive.org/web/20021023005754/http://www.madcatz.com/MadCatz/product_support.jsp?id=5320&from=pd And a pic of part of the manual from an ebay listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/305131509042 I suppose you could try asking the ebay seller for another pic or two?
  17. Please check it out and/or donate if you can! They've been doing this for many years, and it is for a great cause!
  18. I was joking about nendoroid, but honestly, I do think it'd be super cool to have a small figure of the character or something. I have no idea how much more or less difficult or expensive that is, than a plush creation.
  19. Pretty well covered / discussed here in this other thread:
  20. PVC Figure! Contact Nendoroid @Gloves!
  21. One of my absolute favorites is Agedashi Tofu from a really good Japanese restaurant. It's amazing!!
  22. Honestly, it is really hard for me to think about advice without knowing the person (scenario 1). Beyond just preference, I'd need to know their motivations for collecting - something to do to keep them busy? The best financial investment? The best way to ensure they are successful long term in collecting (in terms of enjoyment / not necessarily financial) is for them to get into something they enjoy and are passionate about. Some people just want the most number of items, others want to have complete sets, and others want games they can actually play. There are simply too many variables about what they might enjoy and their reasons for collecting, that I can't think of a good answer for scenario 1 that would actually be the best for them. For scenario 2, it also depends a lot on personal preference and interest - but for me, I'd probably change it up. For example, I sold off most of my NES, SNES, and N64 games a while back, despite me having great love and appreciation for those systems. I found that I wasn't playing a lot of the games that often, and had already beaten my favorites, so they just sat on a shelf getting no love. It's hard to see me going back now and repurchasing those games, especially at the wild prices they are now. I've shifted my collecting interests quite a bit and have been exploring completely different areas in collecting, such as Japanese imports, games I never knew existed, and other items that are a little but more niche and interesting, and less covered in media, forums, etc.
  23. Veganism in general doesn't have to be bad for the environment. It depends on what you eat. I don't eat many processed foods - in fact, most of my 'groceries' come from local farms - I've signed up with a crop share where I get lots of fruits and vegetables from a local farmer, which means significantly less strain on the national supply chain, travel and distribution, etc. I can't speak for everyone of course, and I'm not, but being vegetarian or even vegan, doesn't *have* to be bad for the environment or animals. It is all about how an individual chooses to apply that philosophy in their own situation. I'll also clarify here that I'm not suggesting people need to become vegetarian - I'm simply sharing some information about my own situation. But I'm not trying to force anyone to stop eating meat.
