  1. I just wanted to clarify so that no one is confused. You can't "buy" VGHF because it is a nonprofit organization. An individual can't just buy the entity and 'own' their physical and digital assets. Board members could change over time and individuals replaced - and sure, individuals can do something against the mission or not follow the organization's rules - but no one "owns" VGHF and it can't be sold.
  2. I used to like them as a kid, but can't say I ever liked them as an adult. I don't really eat a lot of sugary 'candies' - if I want something sweet I want a really good dark chocolate or something different, not just a little blob of sugar. Nothing wrong with them, I know plenty who still like them, but just not really for me. Current list of ingredients per the Brachs kind: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Confectioner's Glaze (Shellac), Salt, Dextrose, Gelatin, Sesame Oil, Artificial Flavor, Honey, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, Red 3 Serving Size: 15 pieces, Calories: 110, Fat: 0g, Sugars: 23g, Sodium: 65mg
  3. Thanks Santy!! I'm really excited to get started - always love this event and have tons of fun with it.
  4. Hey there! Sorry to hear that and thanks for your support and general interest though! I will share - that we discussed Secret Santa this year and will start the signups every year from this point forward on November 1 and run about a similar length of time. This way there is no confusion about when the signups start, and it will be the same every year so no surprises. Hopefully this helps!
  5. Yea, I mean, he literally said "But they are all psyched" Even if the games are in the house, it seems like they'll enjoy having their OWN collections and being like dad. I love the idea of giving them their own shelving system and everything. It also sounds like you are giving them other things as well and not ONLY 'hand-me-downs' for Christmas, so I really see no way in which this is 'stupid.' I think it's a great idea and it seems like it makes everyone happy, so why not?!
  6. That's fair. To be honest, I don't eat that much vegan cheese. I can't eat regular cheese, but I don't eat that much vegan cheese either - some of it is ok, some of it is meh. I like the 'Chao' one reasonably ok, and there are a few others that are ok. I just don't use a lot of 'cheese' in general in anything anymore, as even the vegan options aren't particularly all that healthy, so it really just depends. Grilled cheese of any kind isn't really something I'd probably make any more, but I'll do one for this club - I'm curious to try that Violife feta that Link mentioned since he said it was good. It wasn't at my local store when I checked this weekend, so I'll check around.
  7. I think it's a great idea. I honestly have no idea why anyone would say it is stupid or even a combination of great and stupid. I don't have kids, but I know if I did, and with the quantity of games that I have now, if I could gradually gift them some that they would really enjoy, I think it's a win win. I guess it depends on what your collecting goals are and if someone wants a fullset and doesn't want to break it up, for example, but I know for me, the games aren't doing all that much good sitting on a shelf, so if I could see my kids enjoy them and/or play with them, talk about games we all like, it sounds like a really cool thing.
  8. To be honest, @fcgamer, with exception to the actual cheese part (I'd have to use some vegan alternative), yours actually looks the best to me and of all the options presented is the one I would want to eat most, just personally. Many of them look really good though. I'll make some soon - won't be exciting or exotic but I'll figure something out. Thanks for sharing everyone!
  9. I can make a vegetable lasagna if I want and no one will arrest me. I'm asking because I'm legitimately interested in keeping with the spirit of this cooking club.
  10. Do people feel like I'm violating the "grilled cheese" concept if I add other things like veggies in there? I feel like I need to add something in there like kale, spinach, veggies, something hah. At some point it crosses into a "sandwich" or panini versus grilled cheese, so I'll try to think of a way to make it more like a grilled cheese hah.
  11. Oh there are plenty of options, which is awesome. It used to be really difficult to find stuff like this, but now that has become much more popular, it is easier than ever to find alternatives. It's awesome.
  12. Thanks. And yea, regular feta doesn't really "melt" so I was very curious when you said it was melty and creamy. Sounds interesting - I've seen that product in the store but haven't tried it - I may do that for this one, we'll see! Thanks!
  13. Very unfortunate to lose someone, especially at such a young age. Sorry for the loss of your friend --- I definitely understand that even when we aren't currently close to someone, loss can still hurt and be emotional / difficult.
  14. Your post wasn't obnoxious at all, I thought it was cool. @Link I'll have to experiment with this a bit - I'll be using vegan cheese. I'm curious - what brand was the vegan feta cheese you used? A lot of the vegan cheeses don't really melt super well. I've seen 'Follow your Heart' brand and also Violife Feta. I'm not sure what others are out there / available.
  15. I have to say, as much as I don't really like the M.U.L.E. game at all, that box art is fantastic hahaha!
  16. @BlackVega and @fcgamer I know you're just trying to be funny or whatever, but that type of demeaning language about women needs to stop as we want to be a welcoming and inclusive place here. No need to drag this conversation out here (i.e. don't), PM me with questions. This should be a reminder to the full community to think about the language we're using and getting rid of the stereotypical male "locker room" language, especially about women. Now, back to the thread
  17. All sounds good to me. I definitely would enjoy seeing people's different interpretations of something. So rather than it being a super specific recipe, where everyone makes exactly the same thing exactly the same way, it's kinda cool to see something slightly more broad, and then seeing how each person interprets it and executes. I can share with the group that I don't eat meat and I also don't eat dairy - but don't let them necessarily hold back the ideas. If it is a "steak and potatoes" type meal or "burger," I can make the substitutions myself and share what I did. I have something I can do for deli sandwich, burger, "chicken" sandwich, etc etc etc. I know that most people do eat meat so it's normal for that to be included in lots of things.
  18. Just a few more days to signup folks!! If you are still interested, please remember to send Santa a PM with your information! Thanks!
  19. I think it sounds fun. It'd be neat to see how much interest there is. I would simply need to make accommodations / alterations for many recipes due to no meat and no dairy, but that's ok, I do it all the time anyway. I'm curious to see how this would play out in terms of who picks the recipes / ideas, or if we vote on them, etc. Many different ways to do it. Consider me interested!
  20. Oh I know, mostly teasing. I know they have to do that and they all do it, that's fine. Specifically for graded market, it definitely appears to have gone down big time, which many suspected would happen as things were a bit crazy for a while. I personally don't really follow the graded market closely and this doesn't really affect me much personally.
  21. I haven't watched the video yet, but, cheaper games? Sure, sounds good to me, hah! Having not watched it - is this referring specifically to sealed and/or graded games, or games in general? Either way it seems a bit splashy "HUGE CRASH OMG" but I guess that gets attention hah.
  22. Alrighty - so I've removed a number of posts / conversations that were completely unrelated to actual SS signups and were derailing us from the intent of this thread. Do not respond about this here or follow-up about any of that. If you have any concerns or questions, you can send me a message. Let's keep this on-topic and focused on the signups for SS. Thank you, and thanks to everyone who has signed up so far! We still have a few more days, but the deadline will be here before ya know it - so if you are interested in participating, please sign up! And don't forget to actually send Santa your list / information!
  23. I'm really enjoying it so far! Took me a while to get started, because my first copy was stolen by a porch pirate, but I got it replaced and just started the game a few days ago. It is really wacky and silly and fun. I am having a blast with it! It's definitely on the easy side but I'm ok with that. I like that the game is throwing me all sorts of surprises and new game elements throughout the levels. They really got creative with this one and it just makes the game super fun. It loosely takes the sorta formulaic approach of NSBM series just in terms of levels and world layout, but inside the levels, you really never know what is gonna happen! It is very fun and I'm super happy with it!
  24. I know you're joking, but this is definitely not a Christian website. Just wanna make that abundantly clear in case anyone gets confused hehe
