  1. You're a hypocrite because you claim to be against bigotry yet engage in it against others instead of just universally being against bigotry.
  2. That is absolute horseshit. Let's instead consult our friend Merriam Webster: : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race 2a: a doctrine or political program based on the assumption of racism and designed to execute its principles b: a political or social system founded on racism 3: racial prejudice or discrimination You are operating on that bullshit of racism = prejudice + power which is just as I stated earlier, moving the goalposts so that you can remain blameless for the actions you claim to despise when performed by others.
  3. Literally in the opening image it states Racisim: Belief that race is equated with particular traits. So no, I'm not confusing shit. Keep moving those goalposts so that you can remain blameless for the actions you claim to despise when performed by others.
  4. I agree with you up to a point. There is nothing bigoted about simply calling people out for their intolerant and hateful views and actions. But, bigotry isn't a one sided deal and it is completely possible for someone who has the right intentions to take their rhetoric too far and end up engaging in bigotry. For example, say a conservative Christian type is spouting anti gay views and harassing gay people in their vicinity. A person who comes along and tells them that what they are doing is wrong, it will not be tolerated, and that they aren't welcome to stay where they are if that's what they are doing, isn't being bigoted. But, if instead that person came along knowing nothing about this individual personally and said something like "fuck yourself with a crucifix you bible thumping snake oil peddler. Why don't you take your inbred cousin wife back to your house of lies with the rest of the pedophile supporting scumbags in your death cult.", then that person would be engaging in bigotry themselves despite doing so in defense of another. Another is those that claim to be against racism but say all kinds of racist shit about white people without a hint of irony. Racism is racism and bigotry is bigotry no matter the target, speaker, or reason. Racists and bigots come in all different colors, ethnicities, genders, sexualities etc. You'll never fix racism and bigotry by using racism and bigotry. It's important to not become what you are railing against. Be better than the ignorant bigots.
  5. I'm right there with you for movies. Give me the highest quality possible. But, for things that only came out on VHS or SD DVDs such as old skate videos, they look much better on SD CRTs. I just prefer to try and match the content to the display. So SD on CRTs, old PC games on CRT monitors, HD tv and movies and any games from 360 forward (except Wii) on flat panels.
  6. +1 on Circus Caper. I love that weird game. My brother and I used to beat that semi regularly back in the day. Actually got a boxed copy sitting here that I picked up at random the other year. Another obscure game that I used to play the shit out of, and still play a lot is Skyroads(DOS). One of my all time favorites. The developers actually released it as freeware on their site a few years back http://www.bluemoon.ee/history/skyroads/ Also, Cyberia. Not the best game by any measure, but cool as fuck 90's sci-fi vibe.
  7. This thread is anxiety inducing to say the least. It takes some big brass ones to use a boxed Chrono Trigger as a coaster
  8. Well clearly. I never said nor implied that PRC would just let that happen. Just that I would love to see it happen. As for the one china BS, many of the countries following that crap also have nuclear weapons.
  9. I would love for Hong Kong and Taiwan to just tell the PRC to fuck off and form their own joint sovereign nation. It really upsets me that the rest of the world goes along with this One China policy nonsense. I was so happy to read that Tsai Ing-Wen not only won, but won in a landslide.
  10. I've always been an IPA guy, 91% or higher. I heard somewhere that Silvo did as good a job as Brasso but didn't damage the pins, but IDK if that's true and it was a long time ago. I don't like Deoxit for most things as it leaves an oily residue. Maybe I have the wrong kind. Good for cleaning potentiometers though.
  11. CRT all the way here. I'm glad the lag has more or less been addressed by upscalers like retroTink and ossc, or internal HMDI mods, but it's just the look that isn't there yet. CRT shaders just don't have it and until they do, or we somehow get a new panel technology that can do true multisync and create that oblong pellet look with different heights and widths for different colors and brightnesses (TBH idk why anyone would as watching movies and tv is way better on the flat panels provided it's HD content), then I'm sticking with my tubes. If I'm gonna go for an imitation then I damn well better not be able to tell the difference. Weight be damned.
  12. And remember kids, it's pronounced YY ZED
  13. As someone who owns a PVM, a Mitsubishi Megaview XC3730c, a consumer grade set, and a PC CRT, I gotta say that I much prefer slot mask to aperture grille for retro games. I like how it tends to soften the edges while still having an amazing picture. AGs are technically better, but I just like the Slot look. What I wouldn't give for an NEC XM or XP 29. Congrats on the JVC. Awesome little units.
  14. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/neil-peart-rush-obituary-936221/ A Farewell to a true King. RIP to arguably the greatest drummer to ever hold a pair of sticks.
  15. If I looked like her I could have easily gotten the sauce without paying the $0.25
  16. Yes, can't forget that important detail. Your MPC doesn't share its RAM and processor with a fully functional video game either. But once you HAVE programmed it, it conceptually works in that manner unlike a Genesis which is more like a Yamaha DX7 or other FM synth
  17. Please remove Jay St Games in Cherry Hill, NJ as it closed down last year.
  18. Ye. The SNES was basically a MIDI sampler/sequencer similar to like an MPC or SP1200 or EMAX that could do ASDR envelope shaping, pitching, looping, and some DSP effects like a basic reverb and delay(echo) and some filters. The sample rate of the system was 32 khz so it could only accurately reproduce frequencies up to 16 khz vs the 44.1 khz of a cd which maxes out at 22.05 khz which is just about the top of human hearing.
  19. Remastering would not have nearly that amount of difference. Mastering is treatment on the entire 2 track stereo master as a whole so the individual elements are inaccessible. You'd actually be surprised at how little the sound changes in a professional mastering session. It's more like deciding what type of frosting to add to your already baked cake. If the cake is shit, no frosting in the world is gonna change that.
  20. You can hear the difference in that the individual samples are not downsampled. Everything has a cleaner more extended high frequency range and the mix itself is a little more open and transparent. Aside from clarity, it does a few things. It makes the stereo field sound wider as highs are more directional. Also, it makes the percussion and the bass more punchy sounding as it can fully reproduce the sharp transients. On the SNES version, the bass sounds more muffled and subby, lacking the attack. That being said, as someone who likes older electronic music and hip hop, I am a fan of the effects of low fi sampling. I love that grainy grime you get from the converters aliasing when not being able to perfectly reproduce a waveform. To me, that was a part of the sound of the SNES version that I really like. I like both for different reasons, but I'm not sure which one I like more. From a pure fidelity standpoint the original restored version wins all day though.
  21. With the current size of our military, we would need to not only go to war, but also suffer thousands of casualties within a short period of time before it even made sense to talk about considering a draft. It's also a surefire way out of a job for any politician who supports such a measure.
  22. I see we have similar taste in amps and tones. I don't like those Ultra Gain ridiculous tones either, or even that style of music for the most part. I'm always shooting for Justice/Puppets style, thus the Quad. Got it for $350 back in 2012 and love it. Sadly I gotta send it out to Mesa for a little love as it's doing this odd thing where the volume and low end fluctuates intermittently while playing and after opening it and testing some components I decided I didn't want to spend like 2 straight months trying to reverse engineer that complex beast. She shall chug again though. Which of your vintage Mesas do you like best? I personally love 2C+s but I feel like the 3 is really slept on.
