  1. from the left side towards the top or a bit over the top but still hanging off to the left. For some moves it's a loose grip where I smack it to the right with my hand and back to the left with my thumb. I tend to be a bit more aggressive on a bat top since the dead zone is bigger.
  2. You had games like Blitz that used the 49 way stick so there were 3 distance zones per direction. Other than that, Space Harrier used a true analog flight stick. Star Wars Arcade (80s) used an analog yoke and the 90s ones used analog sticks.
  3. Thats any arcade joystick really as they just trigger microswitches on and off.
  4. I went to TMG outside Philly the other year and it was all about the retro games or modern homebrew for retro consoles. They also set up an arcade room which was of course all more or less retro.
  5. This discussion is still going on eh? RE the charge: It's most likely in lieu of an ongoing licensing since it's more or less inevitable that some of their code and work will be used in all works produced using NESMaker.
  6. They do but they make it possible to do a 4-way / 8-way switch. Nothing worse than trying to play pacman on someones rig that didn't know the difference and have him not move right due to hitting 2 directions at once.
  7. I would say go ball top as the Sanwas and Seimitsus have that quick response that makes them a top choice among the competitive crowd. The only reason to go bat top, and I mean like a Happ bat top since thats what I find most people tend to mean by that due to those being in pretty much all of the American arcades, is being used to it. For example, on a bat top, when playing fighting games I tend to do double taps or fast back and forth motions by more or less smacking the stick from the side. The Sanwa style ball tops have a much shorter throw and feel much more clicky feel, vs the springy feel of a bat top and as a result, people tend to grip and use them differently.
  8. Oh that's pretty cool. You get the shape of the bat top with the clicky short throw of the Sanwa.
  9. I mean when half the song is just goin "Uh Haw haw haw haw" and mumblin the rest, I think you are good. Hell, the drunker you get, the more accurate a performance you deliver.
  10. Oh wow, I never knew that was a thing. So you get a perfect ZZ Top Karaoke backing track. Really cool.
  11. No sir you cannot. Looking at the grooves of a record to see where the breaks are is common amongst people who like to sample from vinyl. I've done it many times.
  12. @RH, @darkchylde28 This Image I dug out from an old book I had explains what you guys are talking about well. Even though I was more on the tracking and mixing side of things, I used to sit in on mastering a lot so am pretty familiar with what makes this happen so I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.
  13. I did on the previous page. Cassettes are objectively crappy, but they do have a sound that they impart on the material that some people might enjoy.
  14. Bat just because I'm US based and that what we mainly had here. I can see the benefits of the ball top, and would actually use one if building a panel, but I just have more experience with bat so that's how I gotta vote.
  15. Let's hope it pans out. Personally, I've been waiting 24 years for a true sequel to Mario RPG. Paper Mario was always a consolation prize at best for me.
  16. I remember being about to buy this, from a Marshall's of all places, and ended up getting a boxed shareware copy of the brand new original Doom instead. Had to jump through all sorts of hoops and make a dedicated boot disc to get that to run on my IBM PS/2. Ended up playing TOTF years later tho. Pretty cool game. I'm gonna go ahead throw Sierra adventure Codename: Iceman, the original Battletech/Mechwarrior, and Heart of China into the mix of obscure games as well.
  17. Had a bunch of advice for possibly making your own, but here https://www.mameroom.com/webstore.asp?productid=UAIIKIT&category=136. Has a CRT mounting kit with it. They also make a bartop kit that can fit up to a 15 inch crt as well.
  18. Moved about a 3 hours minimum drive from where I grew up. Aside from some people, I don't miss it at all. There was just nothing there for me. Plenty of others did the same. It's an odd feeling going into a business where you were bound to run into people you knew every time, and not recognize a single person. Being a stranger in a place you once called home.
  19. Stage - Bubble Man Robot Master - Plant Man, jk (Plant man knows where the plants will grow) , actually Nitro Man cuz he morphs into a biker on a crotch rocket. Song - Bubble Man or Wily Stage 1 from MM9 Weapon - Metal Blade
  20. Taylor Ham (incorrect) if you're from North Jersey, Pork Roll (correct) if you're from South. Taylor is a brand of pork roll. I happen to prefer their competitor Case's, but Taylor is still really good shit. Also, us SJ folk get another breakfast meat that comes across from PA, Scrapple.
  21. Woulda been cooler if you'd said Flash Gordon
  22. Didn't like it but have nothing against it. I'm just not a fan of mixing deathmatch shooting with the building mechanics. I'm more of a Counter Strike kinda guy.
  23. That one is great but I still like the MM3 one better. I think it's the solid Green/Blue sides that box the background into what looks like a little scrolling window that throws me off a bit on the Excitebike profile.
  24. That one might be your best so far.
