  1. 5.. I always found it hard to get into these types of games.. not sure why. The combat system just didn't excite me when I played this one. It wasn't bad but it's not something I'd go out of my way to play.
  2. The Mask, Ace Ventura, and Dumb and Dumber all came out in '94 which is insane!.. then Ace Ventura 2 came out in 95, so, yeah, not totally surprising that the shtick was getting old by the time Cable Guy rolled around, especially since his character was deliberately annoying. Only thing I liked and really remember about The Cable Guy is when they go to Medievil Times and he does the 'Silence of the Lambs' joke with the chicken skin and then the Star Trek fight music impression when they get into the sword fight. Overall though, definitely my least favourite Jim comedy I'd say.
  3. I really like modern games when technology doesn't get in the way (updates, registering accounts, lag, etc.). As many have said, the majority of the stuff from the past is more accessible than ever and there's a lot of great new games out there (even with a retro feel if you're not into the latest triple A stuff). The only thing that kinda sucks about today's games is that there is no 'mystique' to them. Even avoiding spoilers on the internet, it's just not the same as seeing a few still shots in a magazine or just hearing that a game is going to be released with no additional info until you play/see it yourself in person. That could just be me getting older as well I also miss local co-op games. Online is great ,but not the same as sleeping over at your friend's house with a group and playing games into the wee hours of the morning. Again, probably to do with getting older and less about the games themselves.
  4. All the games I really enjoyed, I've pretty much beat into the ground in some form. Maybe not in one sitting, depending on the game, but I usually 'play to win'. I don't really spend any time with games that don't interest me or I find out I don't like. Newer games are generally too long... anything that takes 2+ hours to beat I'm probably only gonna play once. I do have a bad habit of just turning games I've already completed off when I die in a really crap spot and don't feel like doing a part over. This typically applies to NES games where the you get punished hard with the lack of saves/checkpoints etc. I've really mellowed in my playing over the last 10 years though. I used to get pretty revved up back in the day playing online or even raging at a really annoying part in a game when I was younger.
  5. Sounds like Hell to me. I'd probably bring Rockband and the CRT because the only thing worse than the Hell is input lag.
  6. I think it's a great idea. Focusing on the selection/process and how they go about I think would be the better gift than the game itself. (ex. give them a coupon redeemable for one free game from your collection or something on Xmas). Maybe a stupid idea but you know what I'm getting at.
  7. Yeah, seen him a few times and was big around here (Nova Scotia) for quite some time. The song "Sleepy Maggie" was absolutely everywhere for a few years. He was also the first person to buy legal marijuana in Cape Breton when it was legalized in 2018... I think he camped out overnight.
  8. I like this movie for the occasional watch and think it's worth revisiting just for the Arnie quotes. It's a really strange movie to me though... it's like an action, rom-com, kids movie but the end is pretty violent and seems out of place - never really figured out who was the target audience for this one. It was the 80s into the 90s, so probably overthinking it.
  9. Definitely should have been a cheaper title though due to content.
  10. I really like it and the fact that almost every level is different. Nice to change up the power-ups, enemies, and mechanics/animations. Taking my time getting through it though as I don't see a ton a replay value on this one personally compared to other 2D Mario games.
  11. How rough some collectors handle boxed or rare items. Take it easy there, pal.
  12. For me personally it's a weird one because I got in to it a little late in late 2009 and pretty much only played Goldeneye online for 2 years but that's when I started getting into to gaming again after university and spawned my online gaming interest. Overall, I still see it as the Wii Sports machine for seniors/kids and definitely had a 'fad' component to it for casuals. It's one of my least favourite consoles for 1st party stuff... Mario Galaxy 1/2 and DKC Returns are the only ones that I really liked and even DKC was a little annoying with the shake roll. I think I liked the Wii more after the fact. Tons of awesome light gun games and super easily modded with a GC player.
  13. I must play with a heavy hand, especially when I'm a little tense... I always press the L3/R3 joystick buttons by accident on the newer consoles. I also prefer to use the buttons on my joycon as the d-pad rather than using the joystick.. and those buttons have a tiny surface area P=F/A.
  14. I'm really looking forward to it despite the lack luster graphic style. Looking forward to 3p local play with my brothers and perhaps someone online play with friends. A new dash mechanic and weapon specific specials should add some value to the game.
  15. I've had a few blisters on my left thumb from grinding out longer sessions on side-scrolling games like Ninja Gaiden 3 and Shredder's Revenge. I played a lot of those two games over the course of a few days. I missed basketball tryouts in grade 9 because of a Mario Party blister in the middle of my hand. It got pretty infected and took a a few weeks before I could fully open my hand. This was before I started wearing an oven-mitt to play I specifically remember the tug-o-war and the shy guy rafting mini games... brutal.
  16. Just watched No Country for Old Men again the other night and love that movie. Awesome pacing, tension, story etc. Probably my favourite over Big Lebowski, which is great but has a few parts where it falls off a bit. I really liked True Grit, Fargo and Burn After Reading as well. Hudsucker Proxy was absolutely terrible.. maybe one of the most boring movies I've ever seen.
  17. I really liked the newest Casino Royale movie.. probably one of my favourites. The Goldeneye plane jump is probably my favourite stunt and opening... but the Brosnan movies were ridiculous for the most part. Dr. No and Her Majesty's probably stand out the most. I've also seen a View to Kill a lot for whatever reason.. used to be on TBS all the time. Spectre was terrible and almost comedic at the end when he's running through the missile plant thing. More unbelievable than a video game. Ready for a new era of Bond.
  18. Excited for Contra but the art style looks pretty terrible. I'm not so sure why it's so hard to make a good Contra game... should be one of the easiest series to make a ridiculous, over the top, fun, run-and-gun game that looks half-decent. I'll check it out down the road when it's heavily discounted depending on purchase price. Not much else in the direct that interested me personally. Looking forward to Mario Wonder though.
  19. Mine was out for a bit this afternoon but popped back on early this evening thankfully. Sketchy drive to work this morning though. Glad we're on the tail end of this.
  20. Those Santa Cruz Pokemon board resale values though.
