Ever see anyone led away in cuffs?

I was down at the local immigration agency today, to hand in a document that I forgot to bring earlier in the morning. Things were really crowded though and the woman I needed to give the document to was busy in the corner helping someone else, so ultimately I decided that I'd swing by tomorrow rather than just putting the document on her desk and hoping it didn't get lost.

On the way out, I saw a pair of police officers enter the building. The first one was leading a guy who was wearing handcuffs and ankle cuffs, while the other office was behind, sort of pushing him along. The guy was a foreigner, most likely from Indonesia judging from his appearance.

I really felt for the guy, likely he had illegally switched jobs or overstayed his visa or something like that. They'll throw the book at him and he'll be deported quite quickly.

On a different occasion, I was waiting outside of a 7-11 at around 4 AM waiting for my friend to come pick me up - we were going to run a half marathon together, and as I didn't have a vehicle then, she was driving me with her to the starting location. Before my friend arrived, I saw a police car roll up to a townhouse and bang on the door. Eventually, a guy answered in his bath robe, before being promptly arrested and forced into the police cruiser.

No idea what this guy did but it could have been anything - drugs, illegal gambling, prostitution, gang-related things, tax fraud, etc. Definitely wasn't a good way to start one's Saturday morning, but whatever.

I grew up in a rough neighborhood.  In High School we had random drug checks with drug sniffing dogs about twice a year come and check every classroom.

At least one student was cuffed and thrown in jail every time for having drugs.  And for those who feel the cops were targeting us, they weren’t.  I’d seen plenty of drugs, knives and even a hand gun from time to time to know that these were legitimate arrests.

I saw one guy running away from a store mall trying to steal some games or movies or something like that but he failed and was caught by a mall guard and escorted somewhere. Not quite handcuffs but he most probably ended up in them. That attempt was probably not worth it for him overall

Great record. I like what they've become (more metal influence) but that record is a damn near perfect punk rock record.

I ran from the cops when I was like 12.  Halloween night doing some minor vandalism (spray painting the grass).  Cops didn't want to try and chase us down and we ended up sneaking away.  In college I asked to be given a breathalyzer test while drunk when the cop had pull a guy over in my dorm.  Asked me if I was planning on driving (nope), where I lived (the dorm he's next to), and then told me to go home (yes sir, have a good night).  I've seen people in cuffs just because I live in the city but I've never seen someone get cuffed.

I remember seeing my friend in shackles actually.

One of my friends from HS went D1 for track in a major city in the US. By his junior year he got in selling a pretty significant amount of pot. I took a trip to see him with some friends for his bday and he threw a huge party. He lived in, uhh, not a nice part of the city so parties were pretty standard. One thing lead to another and the cops came and shut it down.

When they were clearing people out someone was smoking pot and they started asking where he got it and he said the owner of the house, my friend. Long story short, they cleared everyone out and found a ton of pot and a little cash. I remember looking through the window with my buddies seeing my friend in shackles with a mountain of pot on the table in front of him with his head in his hands.

My one friend looking on with me noticed the cops went to search the upstairs and went in the fuckin window like a mad man and started passing all the money and pot out the window to my friends and I. We took it and ran. The cops came downstairs and there he was. In actual shackles with all the pot and money gone.

After about an hour, we watched the cops walk out and to this day he had a clean record lol

Would you like to share with the group?

I was going through a green light and someone ran the red causing me to swerve and lean on the horn, narrowly escaping death. Just as I got through the intersection from that ordeal, I was in the right hand lane and 1 second later a van merging from the right side came right into my lane at full speed so I had to swerve again out into the left hand lane, lean on the horn again and quickly back into the right lane in front of said van to make my turn, 100 feet from the entrance to my gated community.

During this whole fiasco, 2 cops were stood at the intersection cleaning up the pieces of a previous accident so they jumped into their truck, drove 100 feet to my gate and put me in handcuffs for driving like a lunatic. They searched my car and asked me how many drugs I had taken before eventually removing the handcuffs and letting me go.

Apparently you're allowed to run red lights and merge with your eyes closed but honking your horn in the face of death is a big no no.

Story time:

When I was like 16 or so my girlfriend at the time had an Aunt who was in law enforcement. Back then I was interested in a career in Criminal Justice so she set me up with a ride along with one of the police officers. It’s pretty awesome, you ride shotgun in the patrol car with the officer as he goes about his daily business. You mostly stay in the car when the bad stuff occurs but this was a pretty quiet shift for him. This was in a town that bordered a city that had its own police force but they regularly worked together on stuff.

As day transitioned to night he gets a call on the radio that a subject in the city has been reported to be carrying a shotgun on his back walking down the sidewalk in the city. So he decides to roll up in this suspect with the city cops. It’s like a scene out of a movie; all these cops suddenly roll up lights flashing out of nowhere on this dude. Hands up! Don’t move! Face down on the pavement! The poor guy pisses in his pants and gets down on the concrete. They slap the cuffs on him and start inspecting what he has on his back. I’m in the car but I can tell from where I’m at it’s definitely not a gun on his back before he even got down.

This poor guy was carrying one of those pool cues on his back that breaks down in the middle and has like a tube carrying case that you can sling over your back. The cops apologize to him and let him go. I’ll never forget that. I didn’t end up going into Law Enforcement but it was definitely a  neat experience for me, I’m sure it was pretty unpleasant for the billiards enthusiast. He was laughing it off at the end though, I’m pretty sure he had been drinking a little.
