  1. It really depends. For example, I hate when I see people stack console boxes. But when I see people collect console box variations and have a multitude of them it looks like a store presentation and looks nice. In general, I like curated collections. A shelf full of the same 677 NES CIBs on their side is boring. But organize them by publisher it becomes interesting.
  2. It’s nice to document these thing as unexpected patterns emerge the more data is collected. People used to brush off those flap codes as irrelevant information until @0xDEAFC0DE figured out that they were date stamps when I pointed out that manuals have them as well in the bottom right corner of the last page only typically a few digits off. Not sure if it’s correlated to me pointing it out or coinciding events. Together we all discovered they started this around October 1987. Now there’s people out there documenting the Famicom date codes, and PAL stuff and finding NES games printed all the way up to the US launch of the N64! Information matters, no matter how useless it might seem at first. It can cause a complete paradigm shift in the way people enjoy the hobby when enough is collected and freely shared!
  3. Out of curiosity, can I pay extra as a one time fee to actually buy extra space? I’m running out of private message space, and I think I’m near the limit to file size space. I never delete anything...I still have all my PMs from NintendoAge archived somewhere, I’d hate to manually have to archive these ones. I don’t want it to be a fruitless endeavor for you, but I do love to shitpost so dearly (seriously) and I also use the image function for some more serious collector stuff as well. Also, consider compression for the images. We don’t exactly need 24-bit TIFF file quality, or animated PNG support. (I’m not sure if you actually have that enabled but it’s for illustration purposes) ... Oh and that reminds me. Can you expand the email notifications to include the full PM instead of just a snippet? It’s how I archived my entire NA PM history, and googles email search allows me to recall literally any conversation I had on NA in private in seconds. Oh part 2: Spreadsheets take no space at all. Consider them as well, were spreadsheet freaks here!
  4. I don’t but there’s an “ASMR” style video on YouTube somewhere that I think mentions what glue he used. It’s titled “I restored this eBay junk game boy” or something like that.
  5. Not sure if it's "more expensive" but its definitely super pricey. The "Keio: Flying Squadron Demo" for Sega CD is pretty expensive since they accidentally put the entire game in there.
  6. For shame. You should just stop calling yourself a collector and a gamer. ... Now excuse me while I ignore every single sports title ever made that isn’t something like Mario Golf, NBA Jam, or NFL Blitz. Also, I voted 3. Though I think I could have also say any one of them except 1. Whichever one introduced the “slide” mechanic is probably best. but I love 6 since it included fan made characters outside of Japan, and Centaurman is awesome. As GameDave would say, he’s Half Horse, Half Man, Half Robot.
  7. Any short PAL exclusives that can be added? Definitely gonna participate next year when I can. I play NES anyway, might as well kick all y’all’s butts while I’m at it! (Not really, I still suck at games 32 years later)
  8. I don't have any hard definitions myself, but I loosely use a few terms. A "Perfect CIB" would be something that includes everything that belongs inside and outside the box. Plastic wrap, factory stickers, plastic bags, etc. A "100% CIB" would be something that includes everything that belongs inside the box only. Might be missing the plastic bag or a nintendo power insert, so I'll use "100% CIB" if it's missing something like that, and I'll use "100%+ CIB" if it has everything except the plastic wrap. A "CIB" would be something that just includes the cartridge, manual, and box. Everything else would be categorized as "Loose" even if its a box + cartridge, or a "Perfect CIB" missing just the manual or cartridge. So my rough terminology is Loose > CIB > 100% CIB > 100%+ CIB > Perfect CIB I guess you can add one or two more stage though "New" would be something unopened, and maybe you can add "Graded" but I wouldn't call it a step up, I'd consider it a different thing all together since you can also get a loose cartridge graded.
  9. Me and @Mr. CIB literally just finished a "CIB Contents" list for the USA Licensed NES library just mere hours ago. It took about 30 days to compile, and about 25 years of combined experience between the two of us. It's a rough cut and not ready for public viewing but I'm sure Deniz and Kenneth have a similar looking list. Despite where you are in the whole "political" spectrum of WATA, they guys who run it are longstanding community members who know their stuff. If me and @Mr. CIB can do it in 30 days with no financial incentive, I'm sure they can do it as well. Also, I'm sure they make mistakes in what goes to what. The only true way to verify with absolute certainty is to open, but in general the inserts of any given CIB are knowable.
  10. The tree comes down while the kids are unwrapping. If they don’t finish by the time it’s down then the presents get packed away for next year! Christmas is terrific at the Phleo house. The classical definition of terrific that is. I might still have some sealed NES games waiting for me because I’m too slow :’( Dad also claims I was supposed to receive a dog one time during my childhood.
  11. We had a nice Christmas ham this year. My Wife soaks it in Orange Juice & Seven Up to take out the salt, cooks it until the skin is crunchy and makes sure the meat is tender as well. Right at the end she puts a coating of honey and maraschino cherry juice and voila!
  12. @Gloves It’s so annoying when people leave their Christmas decorations up. I think we’re 363 days early for Christmas. I mean, Jeeeeez man. >_> what’s that... *hammer noises intensify*
  13. Sorry to hear @The Strangest. I’ve heard lots of vitamin C, D, and Zinc help reduce symptoms. I wouldn’t overdose on them, but it can’t hurt to take a little anyway. Wishing you and yours family well. Stay strong!
  14. @Dr. Morbis looks like an LJN Press Kit. Also there’s a LJN NBA game Flyer in there too! Interesting
  15. Care to share the date code on the top right flap of the SMB 3? Ive got zero data on this variant and it’d help save me the time to track this box down myself.
  16. It's only found in one game. Crash n the Boys: Street Challenge. The code for this insert is AMT-NES-US. It's a tough insert to track down. When I get back home I can share a photo of it.
  17. Hawt as usual. I absolutely believe you on this, and I sure as hell know one will never be opened. The only way I can even fathom getting solid guess on this one particular title is if "OneUpped" accurately weighs their copy (VGA case and all) and then someone weighs a 100% CIB with, and without the BRO-NES-US poster, and an empty VGA case. Even still, I wonder if there's enough variance in VGA case weight to offset an entire poster.
  18. Goo-Gone is fine for shells, sure but it's bad practice in general.
  19. True, I’m looking at it from a nuclear option. Afterall, your prospects with that company become bleak at best after you take hostile action against them. But if I caught coronavirus and suffered a lifelong injury, extreme financial burden, or worst as a result of it, I’d be willing to burn that bridge. Definitely wouldn’t sue if it was just exposure or shoddy management. Is just Express my concerns
  20. Three separate parties. The employee for refusing to leave. The company itself for refusing to take action after being informed of an actual threat. The person in charge who made the call to keep people there and not force her to leave. Bleed them dry. No one has the right to knowingly expose you to a highly infectious disease ... well unless you’re in California and it’s an STD Employers have a duty to keep their employees health safe at work as well.
  21. I’d honestly rather clean the attic during the summer than play Pong longer than a few minutes. The only way I can enjoy pong is by showing my kids where gaming “started” and it would have to be either a fleeting moment “Dad what’s this game?” Or a dedicated trip to a game museum.
  22. Average. I tried playing a few games a few times and nothing held my attention for a few minutes. This is also after googling “top Intellivision games” and playing the results. The console almost gives a semblance of nostalgia to me since my grandmother and mother used to play it and would talk about it to me once in a while. All pre-NES consoles have no place on my connected systems shelf though. This includes Atari 2600, 5200, ColecoVision, Intellivision, Astrocade, Channel F, Odyssey 2, Vectrex, etc. It doesn’t mean I don’t collect for them, and I certainly appreciate what they did, but they are closer to novelties than they are to games for me. As far as I’m concerned you could have label this entire thread “Generation 2 of game consoles”
  23. My Secret Santa was @twiztor and he crossed off every item on my list! Thank you Thank you first of all for your donation to St Judes Childrens Research Hospital. It’s my personal favorite charity second only to Ronald McDonald House. Next, thank you for the candies. There’s something about sour childhood candies that make me happy. I love the custom Hey You Pikachu cart! Now I need to track down a mic and enjoy the frustration I had years ago. Not pictured is the custom ornament! I can’t wait to hang it up on my VGS Tree next year! Finally the piece-de-resistance (not how it’s spelled but whatever) Thank you for sharing the secret recipe to the Krabby Patty Santa’s Secret List Making Technique. My efficiency has increased 100 fold, and with some honing I can add a few zeroes.
