  1. When you boil it down, a video game is just a form of entertainment. If it doesn't entertain you then regardless of what the world might think, it deserves an honest opinion.
  2. Somehow I still don't own these CIBs! I'd like to buy chunks of them at a time if possible. Let me know what you guys got! I'd prefer it if they have all their inserts, or at the very least the posters. Arch Rivals: A Basketbrawl! 4. Yes, they are. If you took more then one then I only have the one with it on a white piece of paper. Since its your photo I'll share it...the other two I have are also publicly posted on Instagram somewhere so I'll attach those as well. Since you're upgrading a photo for me, I'll still honor it as a photo of a already known cart and pay you $10 per image...as long as its not something like 10 or 20 photos As for #0165, I have 6 photos. Since you're the current owner I'll share them with you privately to do with as you wish. They aren't *actually* my photos, so don't go putting them in a commercial product or anything.
  5. Interesting to know. This means the glossy stickers were also included in the pre-deluxe sets. Maybe the Matte seals are legitimately rare after all!
  6. Yeah one thing to keep in mind is they had to have 17 games ready for an unproven market on October 18, 1985 AND they were still pumping out games for other platforms...they had like 100 Famicom, and 40+ Game & Watch titles at the same time. They probably had very little down time as evident from the use of Famicom converters in US test market releases, and likely just used whatever time they had to produce chips in the early days. One part of Nintendo history that’s poorly documented is what happened the months right after October 1985. I bet that there wasn’t just one production run of the “first print” titles, especially considering that one of the highest known pre-Deluxe test market sets is around 350,000. It used to (maybe still does) belong to @Bearcat-Doug Thanks for @DefaultGenfor making me dig up that list.
  7. Forgot to add. When I scan boxes I have to remove the cellophane. I don’t have a 100% success rate of putting it back on though.
  8. This is actually valuable material. When they print stuff like this they usually just fold a single sheet and trim the edges to turn it into a “book”. Seems the printers forgot to print one side of the sheet and the result was this book with seemingly random blank pages. You can determine the fold pattern with this information. ... Ok so it’s not valuable in the sense of money, but just valuable as insight into the production history of these things Also, can I bug you for a full scan of this manual? There may be tiny variations that I can detect if I had scans. I only have two DK manual scans though, but I’ll gladly go outbid my way to buy DK manuals to identify the print.
  9. Thanks. This is one of the titles believed to been released during the transition from TM to R so it’s nice to have a solid lead. I still need more data points though but I’m also pretty confident that there isn’t a TM variant on this one as well. Still not confident enough to remove it though! Edit: Keep in mind I still consider a 5-screw Karate Kid, and Side Pocket in the realm of possibility. There are some things that will never be removed from certain “unconfirmed variant” lists.
  10. No doubt, I’m just trying to make sure with absolute certainty they don’t exist. I can’t be the only one trying to finalize the seal of quality list Afterall!
  11. I can’t see what variant you have on the last post. im looking for the type of trademark symbol they use. If it’s a “TM” or a “R” symbol.
  12. Awesome! Thanks So this leaves only four others in the "April 1989" subcategory that need TM variant confirmation...Dynowarz, Super Off Road, Snake's Revenge, and Wrath of the Black Manta. Conflict and Heavy Barrel are oddities in the "March 1989" subcategory that I just can't find TM variants when they *should* have them if they were actually released in March.
  13. You can say you're essentially...reserving your investments. Also, a box aint 100%+ cib without the Cello.
  14. Hey guys, so I'm working on my biggest and best list so far and I'm almost ready to share. I just need to verify the transition between circle seal of quality, to oval TM seal of quality, to oval R seal of quality. I've got a good idea of when and I just need you all to check your games for me. It can be a cartridge, box, or even a manual. DO YOU HAVE A CIRCLE SEAL OF QUALITY FOR ... Ultima: Exodus Dance Aerobics John Elway's Quarterback Ninja Gaiden DO YOU HAVE AN OVAL TM ™ SEAL OF QUALITY FOR... Conflict Heavy Barrel Dynowarz Super Off Road Snake's Revenge Tecmo World Wrestling (Cart confirmed) Wrath of the Black Manta Here are my current findings: Nintendo transitioned from the "Circle" seal of quality to the Oval ™ seal of quality some time during March 1989. Nintendo transitioned from the Oval ™ seal of quality to the Oval ® seal of quality some time during April 1990. The titles above are titles released somewhere in between that are sort of anomalous since their "believed" release dates are before, during, or after those transition times. Most notably, Ultima: Exodus which is believed to have been released in February 1989. Nintendo filed a trademark for the Nintendo Seal on April 24, 1989, and was granted the trademark on December 12, 1989. On the application they said the first use of the seal was March 1, 1989. This means that theoretically speaking, any game released from December 12, 1989 can have the "Oval ®" seal of quality. The USPTO Number for this trademark filing is 1570911
  15. $1500-$2500 depending on condition and completion. Im not in a rush to ever own one. As cool as it is historically, it’s just a small piece of history.
  16. Hmm...I wonder if this is what they were going for when they filed the trademark in the USA for QBoy.
  17. For the cause! So few titles left with questions around them on my list. I’m happy to scratch this one off. I sort of want to make a video like how you do, or even send it to you to open.
  18. I wish it worked that way, but it doesn’t on this little decade long project. The only thing I have sealed left is a sealed Abadox, and a sealed Legend of Kage. Those are already on the list though so I have no need to open them.
  19. I’m biased because I want them alot but I’ll be transparent. I hate to see them go to someone else but $150 each is perfectly fair both to you and him. You can squeeze a little more out of them, but even at $175 a lot of these sit on eBay for months at a time. . . It all depends on whether or not the 5 or so Sachen collectors like me and that dude have that particular game or not. I will tell you that Penguin & Seal, and Auto Upturn are a lot harder to find than the others. But that makes little difference in price for these things. All Sachen original art games are R10 out of 10’s...but they’re not particularly valuable except maybe for Little Red Hood.
  20. GVN and VGPC are a pretty good measure for loose carts, and an okay measure for the “average” CIB in “average” condition. GVN doesn’t count NIV Bible, King James Bible, Spiritual Warfare, Joshua, and Exodus. It also doesn’t count the players choice stuff. You can safely tack on another $500 just for those alone. So $9500 + $500 is a safe $10,000. Add in your variants, depending on how many you have I bet you can add another $1000 so $11,000. The best you’ll get in a bulk lot in a short amount of time is about $7500 I think. Of course the opposite can be true and you can get *more* if the right buyer is looking right now. Im about to jump in the Game Boy train myself starting from the top and work my way down...just gotta get a couple more NES lots before I’m ready. But I’m going CIB w/ inserts. P.S. I’d pay some money for scans of rare labels and photos of circuit boards (front & back) since I want to throw this info all in a guide.
  21. I definitely had my doubts in GameStop, I even thought COVID would bring it to its knees even faster
  22. $200 later... I will still open mine when it gets here.
