  2. I read about this the other day, reminds me I need to check it out. Thanks for posting. Going to try to see if I can find it this evening or tomorrow morning.
  3. I can't remember really seeking out games based on company name, but I remember in the early 2000s I'd often stop and look if a game had a Havok engine logo on it. That physics engine was a lot of fun.
  4. I like the new categories so far. Here's a few random ideas: PC game music (basically anything pre-Steam) Unlicensed game music (like Tengen, etc) Game music which mimicks/borrows from real songs (Like Pictionary NES, etc. There's quite a few.) Pause music? Might be more games with pause themes than we think, not sure though. Ported/reworked music (like renditions of a song ported on different systems, IE an 8-bit version of green hill zone ported from 16-bit, or like in Sonic Generations with new versions of old songs, etc.)
  5. This was a lot of fun, thanks again AverageOliver98 for organizing this. It was really cool sharing game music and listening to others! I may have slightly misinterpreted Day 31, but here's my Day 31 List : VGS VGM Challenge -NESMASTER14- Selections From Other Users' Lists AverageOliver98 - Katamari Damacy - Que Sera Sera - Swanky tune! I love the juxtaposition. Parasol Stars - "Boss" - Game Boy - Nice one, Game Boy really has some underrated gems as far as music goes. Spin Jam - Ingame Music 2 0xDEAFC0DE - Super Mario Sunshine - Ricco harbor - Nice tune, another great song I've never heard. Ghouls 'n' Ghosts - Title Theme - Such a cool C64 song, and creative use of the SID chip. JAGMO - Megaman 2 & 3 Suite Aguy - Endless Ocean: Blue World - Island of Inisfree - Wow, that song really goes all-in, nearly shed a tear. Nice one! Revenge of Shinobi - The Shinobi Total Distortion - You Are Dead - Hilarious! I need to check this game out, lol. ZeldaFreak - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - The Legendary Hero - I'm missing out on a great game/soundtrack, I need to play Wind Waker sometime. Castlevania Dracula X - Stage 1 Bloodlines Gooseworx - Metal Crusher (Undertale Cover) - Cool cover and I still need to check out Undertale. ookii_risu - Phantasy Star 2 - Rise or Fall - Genesis had such a distinct and iconic sound, nice track and I agree the Genesis soundchip is still underrated! Warsong - Player Phase 1 - Nice one! Jackal - Stage 3/6 Sumez - Super Fantasy Zone - Boss Music - Genesis \^^/, what more to say. Gun Frontier - In The Sky - Nice music and gameplay looks solid. I read the programmer of Recca considers it one of his favorites, I'll have to check this out! Yoshi's Island - Underground Stages rdrunner - Tail of Beta Lyrae Intro - That's a really cool intro and song, especially for the humble Atari 8-bit computer! My dad had an Atari 800 in high school, which was sent to me recently from storage. I'll have to find a floppy for this game and check it out The Lost Vikings - Factory - Groovy! Nice one Guild Wars 2, Fear Not This Night AstralSoul64 - Golden Sun - Sol Sanctum - Cool track, I need to check this series out sometime. Pilotwings - Flight Club Wave Race 64 - Title Screen - Nice one, I have fond memories playing this at my cousins' house.
  6. That'd be cool, a directory page and maybe a small note/icon near normal username basically saying user is live streaming, with link to stream. Not sure how that would integrate exactly but I'd imagine Twitch has an API. Or could be as simple as the user manually toggling their "live" status icon/note, which is a link to their twitch stream. I'm a pretty casual gamer but I'd stream some old games, weekly contest attempts, and check out other users streams as well.
  7. Looks like my updated score from this morning wasn't added to the list. Just wanted to point it out, thanks!
  8. I like the new additions and look forward to doing this again sometime with some new categories!
  9. Wow you made it to the super elite Mario level in Recca!
  10. Update, didn't have time to play during the week but played a bit this morning: Gave it a quick go this morning, haven't played in a few years. First attempt 6/14: Glad to see this game finally make it to the weekly contests, I think I've been waiting since 2009
  11. Sounds fun! Day 1 (Title Screen) - Epic Pinball (DOS) Day 2 (Opening Level) - Kabuki Quantum Fighter (NES) Day 3 (8-Bit) - Jeroen Tel - Supremacy (C64) Day 4 (Console Exclusive Series) - Battle Mania 2 - Shrine (Genesis/MD) Day 5 (Overworld) - Super Mario Land (GB) This may be my only first-party Nintendo pick, but we'll see. Day 6 (Relaxing) - Final Fantasy IX - The Place I'll Return to Someday (PS1) I recently discovered this one and think it's a great piece. Day 7 (Indie) - Super Bat Puncher - Entering The Cave (NES) by Blitz Lunar Day 8 (Shooter) - Tetra Star: The Fighter (FC) - So many shooters (shmups) have great music so I figured I'll choose one a little less known. The soundtrack is classical music renditions, fully orchestrated by the Famicom's standard 5-channel 2A03 chip. Day 9 (Licensed) - The Adventures of Batman and Robin (Genesis) - Boss Day 10 (RPG Battle) - Final Fantasy V - Battle with Gilgamesh (Clash on the Bridge) (SFC) - I should really play through a Final Fantasy game sometime, they have such great music. Day 11 (Puzzle) - Tengen Tetris (NES) - Bradinsky - Licensed Tetris has good music, but this one has always been my go-to jam. I love the solo midway through the song. Fun fact, the song name is not some classical Russian figure, it's named after the composer, Brad Fuller. Day 12 (Sad) - Ecco II The Tides of Time - Medusa's Lullaby (GG) - Something sad and emotive in this humble Game Gear track. Honorable mention: Final Fantasy VI - Forever Rachel Day 13 (Meh game, Good Music) - Spellbound (C64) I'm sure this game was cool back in the day, but I first discovered it through its soundtrack by Rob Hubbard. When I finally played the game it was a bit disappointing, but at least the music was great. Day 14 (Vocals) - WarioWare Mega Micro Games (GBA) - Four Seasons - It's Japanese Enka music performed in a WarioWare game on Game Boy Advance, of all things. Day 15 (Boss) - Journey to Silius (NES) - How about a solid boss theme from a Sunsoft NES game. Rest of soundtrack is great too, I've always liked Stage 2 and the ending theme as well. Day 16 (16-Bit) - Mega Turrican - Stage 1-2 (Genesis) A great Genesis soundtrack by Chris Huelsbeck. I was fortunate enough to meet him and get my copy signed. Honorable mentions: Atomic Runner - Keep Running || Cyborg Justice - Opening Theme & Stage 1 || Castlevania Bloodlines - Iron Blue Intention (Genesis) Day 17 (Never Get Tired Of) - Sonic The Hedgehog - Green Hill Zone Day 18 (Game Over) - Metal Storm (NES) Day 19 (Cover) - Super Spy Hunter \ Battle Formula (NES/FC) - by Harmsing - Awesome cover and I still feel this video deserves more views. Day 20 (Racing) - Rad Racer (NES) - Sunset Coastline - Such a classic tune! No surprise as it's by a young Nobuo Uematsu. Day 21 (Frustration) - Battletoads (NES) - Turbo Tunnel Ninja Gaiden - Life Lost Day 22 (Town) - PuLiRuLa (Saturn) - Rucksack and Mel's Town Day 23 (Underrated) - Super Adventure Island - Beach (SNES) Honorable mention: Dragon Fighter - Stage 3 (NES) Day 24 (Stuck in Head) - Smashing Drive - Early Bird (GBA) - I first heard this song awhile back, and it's been stuck in my head ever since, for better or for worse! Haha Day 25 (Gets You Pumped) - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (PS1) - Goldfinger - Superman - I know this is licensed music, but man, I think it's engrained in the video game and probably where a lot of people my age first heard it. This song always got me pumped. Day 26 (Never Played Game) - The Scheme - Thousand Eyes (PC-88) - An earlier tune by Yuzo Koshiro on the NEC PC-88, going full Yngwie Malmsteen Day 27 (Handheld) - Sonic Pocket Adventure (Neo Geo Pocket) - Secret Plant Zone Act 1 - It's a actually an 8-bit rendition of Angel Island Zone Act 2 from Sonic 3! Day 28 (Nostalgic) - Sonic 3 & Knuckles - Endless Mine - One of the few games I still have my original copy from as a kid. Whole soundtrack is nostalgic (I snuck in another Sonic 3 song, although different game, on previous day )Honorable mention: Sonic Spinball - Toxic Caves - Groovin' soundtrack! Day 29 (Final Boss) - Soldier Blade (TurboGrafx-16) Day 30 (Credits Music) - Crisis Force (Famicom) - Always liked this one and still think it deserves more love.
  12. A capture device is kinda cool to have. I picked one up a few years ago and it's been great being able to stream old games with a buddy or record footage.

    Boss Rush

Hmm, Soldier Blade (TG16) Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Genesis) Castlevania III (NES) Mega Man 2 (NES) Tetra Star: The Fighter (FC)
  14. I've been on a 90s alternative music kick lately, here's a song that I recently rediscovered:
  15. 526,500 This pic was taken after the first loop when I had 4 lives, I forgot to take a picture when I got down to the last. Hope it still counts!
  16. A million suns shine down, but I see only one. Dark Star is one of my favorites. Kinda sad to see it doesn't get as much love around here though!
  17. I had a friend from Nepal back in high school who was one of the few people in school I clicked with musically. Anyway he was part of a music group/scene called KTMRocks (Nepal underground metal/rock scene) and this was one of the bands he helped with called VHUMI. I'd love to visit there sometime and go to shows.
  18. 23,280 18,080 Farthest I've ever played this game, actually kinda fun. I think I got hit by invisible ice shrapnel after the ice fell *Edit* Slight update, looks like I died near the same spot. Hmm... invisible ice shrapnel or could it be that pretty flower I got moments earlier in stage... Ah, I see, I think my meter ran out, so fruit is kinda important in this game..
  19. What are some of you folks' hand-controller techniques? I've found myself alternating between a few... Carpal Tunnel Tap Dancer Precision Hipster Esoteric
  20. 162,300 Gave it a go this morning, haven't played this one in a long time. It's a bit better than I remember; challenging shooter but solid gameplay! Hopefully I can improve a bit.
