  1. Right now I'm listening to this great PC adlib tune:
  2. I stream via composite, svideo and HDMI with a buddy a lot. I use an old version of Elgato called Game Capture HD, which has native analog support,as well as HDMI and passthrough.
  3. Doing it on mobile version for me now. I guess you can't just replace the favicon image? It's definitely not showing over here. Though I imagine there's more layers to it.
  4. I think there was that stage where you descend into a mine from the start and basically it's entirely underground. It's been a long time since I've last played (but still listen to soundtrack). Cheers!
  5. AverageOliver98 - I was going to choose Gimmick for day 6, haha. Solid game and soundtrack throughout! I recall there was even a mini documentary on the composer years back by Red Bull Academy (?). It's pretty neat if you haven't seen it.
  6. Woohoo! Day 1 (Title Screen): Shadowgate (NES) - Title Screen - Figured I'd start off the October version of this challenge with a spooky classic. Day 2 (Desert Area): Sonic 3 (GEN) - Desert Palace - This was the first song that came to mind, a bit surprised I'm already using my Sonic 3 card, but there's many more games to share. Day 3 (Nintendo Exclusive): Shatterhand (NES) - Area D - Surprised I somehow missed a track from this game on my first list, well here we are now. Natsume had some awesome composers and knew how to rock the 2A03. Day 4 (Made Since 2010): Mega Man 10 (Multiplatform) - Solar Man - Speaking of rocking tunes, this track blew me away when I first played through the game. Day 5 (Jazz): Deja Vu (NES) - Peoria Streets Day 6 (Underground): The Immortal (NES) - Lair of the Norlac / Barrel Ride - This is basically two tracks which make up the scene, one when you're going down and the second when you're being chased. It's awesome and really heightens the mood. Day 7 (Indoor): Beyond Good and Evil (PS2) - Playing Shuffle Puck / Fun and Mini-Games- This game is quite unique and dynamic, and that goes in part with its unusual but masterfully composed soundtrack. Whoever composed it definitely went all-in, and had some fun too. I remember walking into this area and was like, what? The rest of the soundtrack is worth a listen too. Great stuff! Day 8 (8-Bit): RushJet1 (2A03 musician) - Out of Reach - For my list I'll use 8-bit music composed in the modern era. Here's a track from 2008 by one of my favorite modern NES composers. Honorable mentions: SLiVeR - For the Meek (2A03, 2006) - This was one of the first modern chiptunes I heard and it still stands as one of the greats. One more, an original composer of the day who still makes great 8-bit music, Jeroen Tel - Nothing Wrong (C64, 2012) Day 9 (Cover): Deus Ex (PC) - Main Title Piano Version - Sivak, 2004 - I actually don't listen to many video game covers, but I find myself coming back to this one a lot. And yeah, it's by the same person who made Battle Kid! Day 10 (Water Area): Rabbacan - Waterlands (Atari 8-bit, 1993) - A bit obscure being a demoscene track, but I've always enjoyed this demo's music. Day 11 (Funny): Chessmaster - Title Theme (SNES) - This track is so goofy lol. Day 12 (Annoying/Awful) Rocky and Bullwinkle (NES) - I actually find it hard to dislike game music, I've once listened to all the tracks from Action 52 and even thoroughly enjoyed some. BUT, Rocky and Bullwinkle on NES, just aggravating lol. Day 13 (Sports): Arch Rivals (NES) - Pretty simple but memorable, one of the few sports games I actually played a bit. Day 14 (Boss): Rance III - Boss Battle (PC98) - Haven't played this but dig the soundtrack. Also, on another note, there's this nice little upbeat boss tune on Amiga: Premiere - Stage 4 Boss (Amiga, 1992) Day 15 (Victory): Wave Race 64 - Victory (N64) - BONZAAAIIIIII, played this a lot at cousins' house back in the day, but just now appreciating its soundtrack more. Something about the announcer's enthusiasm and the cool Japanese jazz fusion style soundtrack. Day 16 (16-Bit): RASTER.RAD - By Void/Reality (DOS/OPL2/Ad Lib) - Love this track Day 17 (Sky Area): Sonic 2 - Sky Chase Zone (Genesis) - Okay, not being super original here but it's such a classic. Or, how about another sky zone which doesn't even use the Sky Chase Zone theme: Sonic Pocket Adventure - Sky Chase Zone (NGPC) - It takes place in the sky, but don't be fooled this isn't the same Sky Chase Zone theme from Sonic 2, it's an 8-bit version of Azure Lake from Sonic 3. Day 18 (Arcade): B.Rap Boys - Stage 1-3 (Arcade) - Word yo ~~~ Day 19 (Sampled/Inspired): War in the Gulf (NES, 1991) || Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train (1980, Randy Rhodes Guitar Solo) I like finding these, so here's a few more: Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis, 1992) - Intro Theme || Enigma - Sadeness Part I (1990) Warhawk - Intro Theme (C64, 1986) || John Keating - The Unknown Planet (1972) Not sure about this one but it has at least a few similarities: Journey to Angel Witch (Silius) - Stage 1 (NES, 1990) || Angel Witch - Angel Witch (1980) One more, Contra Hard Corps - Character Select (Genesis, 1994) || Sir Mix A Lot - Baby Got Back (1992) Day 20 (Sega): Segagaga - The Singing Alarm (Dreamcast [JP], 2001) - Long live SEGA Day 21 (Fighting): Cyborg Justice - Stage 1 (Genesis) - Classic jam Day 22 (Ambient): Magician - Meryl Forest (NES) - This track always stood out to me, something about Neil Baldwin's creative use of the 2A03, which for this track I envision myself in a dark forest with merely the ambient sounds of little creatures chirping. Atmosphere! Day 23 (Industrial Area): Sonic Spinball - Toxic Caves (Genesis) Day 24 (32/64-bit Music): Death Crimson - Main Theme (Sega Saturn) Day 25 (Techno): Sonic R - Living in the City (Sega Saturn) - Not sure what this genre is exactly but I think it's within the techno realm somewhere. Day 26 (Fire/Volcano): Gun Nac - Stage 2 (NES) - Love the melodies in this one Day 27 (Scary/Startling): Been waiting for this one, welp here's my ehmm, list. Some spooky, eerie, ghastly, startling tunes! Nightmare on Elm Street - Title Theme (NES) Taboo The Sixth Sense - Main Theme (NES) - Castlevania III - Nightmare (NES) Bram Stoker's Dracula - Nighttime Scene 1 (NES) Ghosts & Goblins - Stage 4 (NES) Metroid - Tourian (NES) Action 52 - Haunted Halls (NES) Chiller - Theme (NES) Uninvited - Dead (NES) Day 28 (Final Boss): Summer Carnival '92: Recca - Final Boss (FC) - One of those sh** my pants moments when I was quickly greeted to this intense final boss fight. The music sums it up well. Day 29 (Ending): Demon Sword - Ending Theme (NES) - One of my first NES games, took me years to beat. Just a nice simple tune and a classy cinematic. Day 30 (Credits): Journey to Silius - Staff Roll (NES) - Great tune, another game that took me years to finally beat, but I was pleasantly rewarded with a great ending/credits theme.
  7. Bubble Bath Dudes Some favorites to play: Robodemons, Menace Beach, King Neptune's Adventure, Spiritual Warfare. Intriguing: Escape from Atlantis - It reminds me of an early computer homebrew game, and has some interesting ideas throughout (like when you die you get sent to an underworld where the grim reaper chases you). It doesn't really feel like an NES game. It is a bit rough around the edges, though for what it's worth it never did get officially finished or released.
  8. Beat Pinball Quest on NES Friday night, was nice to finally give this quirky game a full playthrough. It exceeded my expectations and was a lot of fun.
  9. Awesome game! Lots of charm and style, immersive atmosphere, and a memorable soundtrack. Also,
  10. If a game's not sold in normal retail stores new anymore, then I'd consider it retro. It's behind the "current" times.
  11. Was working on one this morning, though realized I accidentally turned off TV before I got to finish it. Had the AVS plugged into TV, which powered off system when TV shut off. For the title, I'll borrow from JamesRobot's quote about art "Videomation is Fleeting"
  12. I seem to beat about 90% of the games I really attempt to beat, according to my Backloggery page. The other 10% is where I get to the final boss/area but haven't beat it. My thing is, NES games are hard but they can usually hold my interest enough (particularly platformers, shmups) so I try to forge through. Reminds me I still need to finish Nemo (though glad to see I'm not the only one!) https://backloggery.com/nesmaster14
  13. Alright, this probably won't be my final submission, but something to get the ball rollin'' "Videomation Age" by nesmaster14 Looking forward to seeing what other uses make
  14. I really like the full cover-to-cover artwork many Japanese MD releases got: I've always liked Color Dreams artwork, these are a few of my favorites: Gradius II
  15. Yeah, as B.A said a lot of these turned up sealed awhile back. Also, here are some pics from an old hard drive (I seem to save everything) when they were being offered at the time: (seriously this is the original picture, the guy edited it like this ) However, I must say you may be better off investing in something more rare:
