  1. @Mega Tankany other openings right now? I was hoping to get in on the Mystery Game, but it looks like it went straight to rematch! EDIT: Oh, looks like you need more for Game 2. Sign me up. Don't forget to tag me in the future when you need to fill out games.
  2. HA! This game... I still have my original copy of it from back when it first came out. My bro and I were super-hyped about the FUTURE of FMV games. We had Sewer Shark for our Sega CD, and didn't like it much. We thought, back then, that it had to be just a tech demo for the Sega CD. When we heard about Ground Zero Texas, my brother went crazy wanting to get it. After finally obtaining it, we were...less than enthused. I never got Night Trap back then for Sega CD, so I may have to pony up for that on LRG. I still have the Genesis/Sega CD hooked up to a TV, mostly collecting dust. Regarding FMV games, the only ones that were really fun to me were the Wing Commander games (3, 4, and Prophecy). Command and Conquer was good too, but when you have Mark Hamill and Biff from "Back to the Future" in Wing Commander, nothing tops that!
  3. My memories of it: Like Estil, I was 11 at the time that it became "Desert Storm." The war permeated the playground back then. Four Square was a big recess pastime in the later elementary school years back then. I remember our crazy "semi-friend" (the kind of kid who would eat worms on the playground just to impress people and cover up how strange he really was) make up "new Four Square moves" to include Skud Missile and Patriot Missile, which could only be used once per Four Square round. If you have played Four Square, you know what I mean by moves/rules. My mom was also scared-to-death that the Gulf War would turn into another Vietnam and that I would be off to fight Saddam in 1997/1998 via a new draft.
  4. Definitely not! I was a beginning/returning player from the early 90s when I started playing on Roll20 with my group in 2013. Now, I have only ever been in this campaign on Roll20, so I can't tell you how the majority of groups act, but the DM of my group brought us into the environment nice and easy. He provided materials and also links where to buy (DriveThruRPG) PDFs of the old books. The interface of the site is pretty easy to work with and intuitive. I even thought that when I first started in 2013. In fact, two people in our group had never played a RPG before they got in on this campaign. Now, 8 years later, they are still with us and loving every bit of it. I wouldn't write off Roll20 just yet...but if you are not wanting to play in actual D&D sessions, just ignore me!
  5. Welcome, YOUNG guy. Some of us are in our 40s as the last of GenX. Enjoy your 30s while you can! Looking forward to seeing you post more frequently!
  6. It depends on your group. I have a phenomenal group that I have been gaming with in virtual sessions since 2013 and I am having a much better time with them than other, live sessions I have been in. I got really lucky, though. I am 41 and I am probably the youngest in the group. My group consists of players going back to the 1970s and we are playing Basic (Moldvay B/X) D&D with flourishes of 1st Edition. I can honestly say that this is one of the few instances that I have made lifelong friends via a virtual, non-forum platform. We have plans, once the pandemic is done, to meet up to game live for an extended weekend...quite possibly at Castle Ravenwood here in Ohio. @TanookiRoll20.net You're welcome!
  7. Just...ya know...working at my career/place of employment on a Monday!
  8. I went with 360. Because of Mass Effect. The only RPG I cared about in that generation. Yeah, it got released later to other consoles, but it will always be a 360 trilogy to me. The Elder Scrolls also seemed to run better on 360 than on the PS3. And as I have posted in other threads, I don't like JRPGs at all. All WRPGs for me.
  9. Hey, put a green 1 next to my name up there on the first post!
  10. Sooooo...how do I screenshot the board? I wish I wasn't first!
  11. Gave it a 5. It was a solid system...in 1984. If the crash wouldn't have happened, who knows? This could have been Atari's Switch since the 5200 was their Wii U. But, since the crash did happen, and Tramiel was in charge...it didn't stand a chance in 1987 when it was reintroduced full scale to the market. HOWEVER, there are some definitive console version of games on the system. Some of you have mentioned Asteroids because of the two-player simultaneous action. That could be the definitive version of classic Asteroids ever released. Though, I much prefer the third sequel to Asteroids, Space Duel, when it comes to simultaneous action. That is only an arcade cab, though, as far as I am aware, with no console release. As an aside, my favorite game in the whole series is the fourth and final game: Blasteroids! Was that ever ported to a home console? (Maybe to a home computer back then) And lastly, like many of you have mentioned: FOOD FIGHT! My wife loves the arcade cabinet and we got the 7800 version of this game right after she fell in love with the cab at a local retro-cade. If you decide to collect and play 7800, I highly recommend the Euro controller. They are a bit pricy, and I was lucky enough to snag one before their prices started going up many years ago, but it makes a world of difference controlling 7800 games. It is basically Atari's version of the NES control pad...d-pad and all. It only ever released in Europe for some reason though.
  12. If it was the same as the first pin set, it didn't start until 3 or 4 days after Super Mario 3D All-Stars came out. I had my copy from Amazon on launch day and had it registered that day as well. It was updated to show I had it on my Nintendo Account by that Sunday or so. EDIT: Going back to your main topic post, you have the news that the pins became available on September 21. The physical 3D All-Stars (as well as the digital) came out on the 18th. If you get physical and register it the day it comes out, I am betting you will be fine.
  13. I went ahead and pre-ordered Super Mario 3D World with some Amazon gift cards I got for Xmas. It was on my Amazon wishlist anyway, so this announcement just pushed me to just get it. Nintendo knows how to push buttons. We'll see if I get lucky like last time to get a code. I think I got one right before they were cut off.
  14. By the way...yeah, 4 people make a crew, right? Da Boss, the wheelman, the "stick up" guy, and the "jack of all trades" guy?
  15. Yeah, Skyline is some good stuff. I guess, however, if I am going for Coneys, I would prefer Gold Star. Their dogs just seem to taste a bit better.
  16. I went with Metroid: Zero Mission. Basically, the Super Metroid-ized version of the very first game. As Doug mentioned, just more fond memories of the first game than with Super Metroid. I think I only ever rented Super Metroid a few times and never actually owned it back then, so that is probably why I didn't get as attached to it. Zero Mission on the big screen via the GameBoy Player (on GameCube) is VERY fun. That is the way I played it.
  17. Great show! I have been many times. I only go for a couple of hours on the Saturday since I have family obligations...wife only lets me go for two or three hours. I drive down from the Cincinnati-metro area of N. Kentucky. If you are into pinball, you gotta go to Pincinnati. That show has only been around for two years (didn't happen last year due to COVID), but it is already becoming one of the bigger eastern pin shows.
  18. Well, I finally played Catan the other night...on New Years Day. I haven't gotten to play this game that so many people rave about that last quarter century. I purchased the 25th Anniversary Edition that came with the 5-6 Player Extension and a bunch of other things. Played with the wife and my dad, and we all loved it. My wife killed us. Looking forward to playing more what people call "the Modern-Day Monopoly" in the near future!
  19. I would be in the minority and say I don't like Super SFII at all and greatly prefer World Warrior and Champion Edition. By that point, I just wanted them to make a SFIII. I hated the new characters and animations. For my basement arcade, Super Street Fighter II wasn't even in the conversation of which SFII I wanted to get. Came down to World Warrior and Champion and World Warrior won out because the PCB boards are much cheaper and I was building a SF II from scratch in a "never used" Dynamo cab. Plus, just much more nostalgia and love for the original compared to Champion Edition.
  20. Gave it a 7, just due to one memory of the Colecovision. As I have mentioned, we had an Atari 2600 pre-NES (it was actually a Coleco Gemini knockoff console, funnily enough). As a kid, I was just glad I could play Donkey Kong and Space Invaders at home, even given how fugly DK looks on the 2600. And then, my brother and I were lucky enough to actually GO OVER to out usual babysitter's house one time instead of him coming over to our house. The babysitter had a Colecovision as his console of choice at his home. I just have this memory of walking into a new age family room (can't really describe it with words) and seeing Smurf in the Colecovision up on the screen...looking FAN-F'ing-TASTIC compared to what I was playing at home. At that moment, I started to realize that not all consoles were created equal. I remember going home thinking, "Well, my Atari is also made by Coleco...why doesn't it look THAT good?" It was a weird time with the Coleco Gemini being a straight clone of the 2600. I called it an "Atari" because all the game carts had "Atari" emblazoned on them. But, I didn't quite grasp what was going on with Coleco making the Gemini, me calling it an "Atari," and why my babysitter's console with the "Coleco" name on it looking so much better...I just thought Coleco made all Ataris/Geminis.
  21. Oh, I have played the first one and got pretty far in it. Never finished it, though, and the 2nd and 3rd one passed me by as. I was interested in other games at the time. I have the first on for GameCube. Definitely one I will have to go back to someday. My GameCube is mostly used for GameBoy game playing, though, in conjunction with the GameBoy Player.
