  1. I love IGS so much. Their cases that are intentionally poorly sized in them name of uniformity. Their stock, completely incongruous army stencil font that the owner just picked because he thought it was cool. Naming your company "Investment" anything and the first thing on their website is a Pirates of the Caribbean blu-ray. The fact that the guy on Ebay grades his own stuff, then debates his his self-given grades in his Ebay item descriptions. The cornucopia of subgrades. All around, just *chefs kiss*
  2. I was on the PSX train when that was in fashion, then they made too many numbered Playstations so I went to PS1, and now I don't like including a "1" that isn't actually there so I'm on team PS.
  3. I try not to think of console names too hard because so many of them are awful. The Wii and Wii U. The 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, a console with awkward multiplayer capabilities that's mostly known for its single player games. The dumbness of calling an X-shaped box "Xbox" to the Xbox One... the third Xbox to the mega dumbness of the Xbox One X Series X-Box 2.0 X-X Box Live Verxion X. What the hell is a JVC X'eye?? A marketing guy actually let them release a product named that?? I think we peaked early: Magnavox Odyssey Vectrex RDI Halcyon
  4. Hey it's me, your local Chicago dispensary customer. Sounds like I can't get a copy, but I'll check out a ROM of the first Nintendo weed game, sure.
  5. Lazy solution, just set like a hotkey on your HTPC keyboard or use an AutoHotKey script to launch Kodi or whatever you use to play media? I know that's one button more than you want to press
  6. Excited to get NewLeaf for my Genesis collection. I think this is the second thing I've ever wanted where found copies actually crashed the the price to something I'm willing to pay. The first would be Caltron 6-in-1. Still waiting on 100 games that won't happen to, but it's cool to get something I once thought was basically un-gettable.
  7. I've always imagined some group of preservationists will set up a fake Xbox Live/PSN to download updates, at least once there is enough interest in replaying these games. It could be a real long ways off though. Insignia Project is recreating original Xbox Live, although that's in early stages. For 90% of games there's a site where you can get the best-playing, most up to date version of these games though called steampowered.com.
  8. They are interchangeable but I also think people overestimate how easy it is to get exactly correct, mint replacements for their jewel cases and DVDs. Not sure what the current replacement jewel case situation is like, but AFAIK zero currently-manufactured jewel cases are to the spec of the 90s jewel cases. All are much cheaper. When I had to replace a few, I bought some NOS 90s Sony music CDs to get equal quality cases. With DVD cases there are dozens of minor variations few people have a great handle on. I think grading modern CIB disc crap is silly, but just in terms of getting nice cases for your collection, it's a bit of a pain. It's also possible Wata just won't care about one million percent correct DVD and jewel cases like they don't really care about baggies or inserts that much.
  9. I bid on a Hey You Pikachu figuring it was a Pokemon game that wasn’t going crazy, maybe under $100 on a average and I bid $133. It ended up going for $369, lol. The closest 5 comparable sales are all sealed ones that went for $200-300 in the past few weeks.
  10. I can’t remember a single thing about this movie, for whatever that says about it.
  11. I feel like I got all the novelty out of this neat thing by watching the video, so if I'm gonna spend $700 on a Transformer, I'd just get a boxed G1 Optimus Prime! But the market for this is probably people looking to add more fancy crap to their entire room full of G1 transformers.
  12. Atari collectors looking at people spending huge money on Nintendo tapes and not caring about their rare Atari mail order games anymore: Nintendo collectors looking at people spending huge money on Gamecube and PS3 games and not caring about their black box games and Little Samsons anymore:
  13. I had one and played it for like 5 minutes over 10 years ago. All I remember was being blown away that the phone handset joysticks don't center themselves.
  14. You also don't buy a CIB Gamecube game and throw out the case unless you're a maniac. CIB Gamecube games are the standard. Cubivore is """"""rare"""""" I put with all the quotes in the world, and look at how many nice CIB copies are on Ebay.
  15. DMX died. Def Jam games might get the death bump like NBA Action 98 did, although probably not as crazy.
  16. I've seen the movie Falling Down, so I would give that lady her table since I don't know how crazy she is. But for real I'm usually just trying to end unnecessary interactions ASAP. I'm probably not going to be able to argue with this lady since no one on Earth ever changes their view or admits they're wrong.
  17. This might've been about a more complex console like SNES, but he said an astronomically small number of people have both the skill and motivation to make FPGA video game console implementations, so if he's gonna give us RCA Studio II, that's some real game preservation cause who the hell owns or wants to own one of those compared to an NES or something!
  18. I thought SMW was going to be the next big thing after the black box hype. I panic bought a real nice one in early 2019. If that's going nuts now, only after corona, Pokemans, and $600k video games, it took way longer than I thought. Likely because SNES sux.
  19. Color a Dinosaur... it’s a coloring game with 2 colors. Red and blue. How on Earth is that possible. The premise of Color a Dinosaur sounds awful to begin with, but if you actually play it, it’s just unacceptable that it even exists. It somehow, inconceivably, makes Videomation look advanced, a horrible program they made 2 years earlier!
  20. The underbidder was our own VGCollectaholic, who basically typed in a random number, which is how I imagine prices are set for many items like this, lol. He was indeed mostly interested in the sampler. He has a CIB Food of France already.
