  1. Hmm.. I’m actually an engineer but I don’t get this one
  2. I think it’s worth supporting. Looks like a good product and without financial support the company will not be able to continue their work. Ive been wanting to pull the trigger since they came out. Maybe will make that a bigger priority
  3. This must be why I get drowsy behind the wheel on long highway trips
  4. If that’s the case then maybe unbroken seals have preserved some of the games in the landfill. One day some of these games might be found. Much like we might unearth an ancient Egyptian or ancient Roman toy and play with it, maybe people thousands of years from now might power up an NES and some games from the landfill and play a little Mario
  5. Game arrived today. I immediately opened it up to check out the board. Everything looked good, besides one of the internal clip tabs missing. Pcb was relatively clean but I hit it with some alcohol anyways. I put it back together and it seems to boot up just fine. I don’t see any issue with the game so far. Although my game gear probably needs to be recapped as the screen is distorted (not a unique issue to this particular game). But the game starts, sound is working fine and button presses are all being registered. I honestly don’t know what to make of the auction saying the game wouldn’t play
  6. It’s funny how he keeps on sounding like he going to elaborate further details on his position, but then just ends up reiterating his love for China
  7. Yea Holy Diver has an official licensed North American release now Personally I’d just download the English translated rom onto a flashcart for any game that has more than a little bit of Japanese text in game such as: Adventure Island 4 Gettsu Fuumaden Wagyan Land Corcoran You can still play these in Japanese if you already know what to expect, but personally for me, the language really takes away from the enjoyment
  8. Do you know what the titles of those home brew are? I’ll see if I can track down the authors edit: just googled pc engine homebrew. There is a pc engine homebrew site that has a bunch of titles and many seem to be made by Aetherbyte
  9. Even if you were standing by for the pre-order for the handheld to open, it’s likely you would not have gotten one
  10. @Sumez@0xDEAFC0DE@TylerBarnes Just paging you all because from posts you seem to have technical background and this subforum doesn’t seem to get much attention
  11. Yea they have a database with stock photo just so that you know your talking about the correct game. As for indication of quality, it’s kind of an honor system where you have to indicate the quality and describe any defects to the other party. I haven’t used it in a while, but I believe if you want to send pictures, you have to do so outside of the platform. I have an excellent idea for a monetized game trading app, but I’m not a developer, just a pool of ideas
  12. Just out of curiosity, let’s assume aliens were real and they did make contact with the government, say 60 years ago. Would the government have kept it under wraps for all this time? Or would they have relatively quickly figured out a way to deliver the news of alien visitors to the world population ??
  13. What we need is an app that has the clean interface and pricing database of Mercari, combined with the functionality of GameTZ
  14. There’s this guy in NYC who was a garbage collector his whole life. They made a documentary about him. He would always check the bags and pull out any items that were still in usable condition. Since the garbage was technically property of the department of sanitation, he would pile the stuff up in a vacant area in the sanitation office building. Today all the stuff he collected is an unofficial museum. Lots of video game’s and systems in there. I wonder if he found any ultra rares?
  15. The danger with these rare variants is that the frequency of sales is so low that they are susceptible to market manipulation. They so rarely get listed identifying them as a -2 variant that all it takes is for one person to overpay and set the new baseline price. Then the next that goes for sale will use the last sale as the new bottom
  16. I think the advances in technology that have become available over the years have created classes of individuals. If a new technology was available when you were born then you probably are less willing to tolerate something less modern than that baseline. A lot of older people like to barter and do deals in person. Some younger generations are not willing to do trades but may be willing to do Craigslist. For some even younger people, they may only be willing to use selling apps or Facebook marketplace, but Craigslist might seem too antiquated. If you’ve never actually bargained and done trades before, it might seem like more effort than your willing to invest. And in reality it may actually be more effort. But if you have already done that a bunch and it’s nothing new to you, then you may have a greater tolerance for the extra effort involved. People like to stick with what they know because things that they know seem easier
  17. Do you think the layers in landfills would keep them protected from rainwater?
  18. My guess is 20-30%.. You just have to think about how likely people are to throw away old dvds or vhs tapes. At the time, you could buy used NES games for only a few dollars, so how much money were people getting to trade them in? Probably about the same amount as used dvds and vhs tapes. And they were certainly viewed as obsolete media back then also because people often had newer systems that made NES look primitive
  19. Ouch couple years ago could have had this with a CIB duo system and several other games for that price.
  20. I am interested in doing a simple hack for a Turbografx game. Just replacing some sprites and changing some of the in game text. Eventually may even change the music, and sound effects, but let’s focus on just sprites and text for now How difficult is that to do? What tools are recommended? Is there a website that has good walkthroughs for doing this?
