  1. Ok so I need to invest in DOGE, Pokémon and beanie babies. Am I missing anything else?
  2. To be honest, I was drawn to the product first. It is typical for most businesses to be product centric in the beginning. But as the company starts to become more market aware, they begin to develop this customer centric approach where they decide why they do what they do and align the products to that vision. What attracted me to the product was the small shipping size (less shipping cost), lack of moving parts (less breaking/warranty claims), quality, durability and price point. Admittedly, I was looking at the qualities in the product that would make it beneficial for me, the seller, to be able to make an entry into the market. However, all of these same qualities that the product has can be inverted and looked at from the customers perspective. And further they can be reimagined through the lens of my vision for why I am doing what I am doing.
  3. So I’m taking a Marketing class as part of my MBA. Learning that one of the things about marketing is determining that my product has to be not just a product, but must also be the manifestation of a statement for the customer. In order to determine what this statement is, I have to have a vision for why I am offering my product. I never really thought about it this way. Just sitting around thinking about what I value in products: practicality, simplicity, smart design, durability, portability. As for a vision, well I think I’m a pretty simple guy.. I definitely don’t live a life of luxury. I live modestly within my means. I am hard working, to me luxury means eating wholesome good tasting food and having the ability to travel. I think I value and enjoy traveling more than anything else in life. Whether it’s traveling to another country by plane, or traveling to another city by car, or traveling to the beach or the mountains for hiking, parks for camping, I love traveling. I guess for a vision I think that everyone should be able to enjoy the luxury of travel, even if it is modest travel. Even if all you can afford is to carpool with a coworker, friend or family member to your local state parks, everyone should be able to leave behind the stresses of the daily grind and getaway to a place of relaxation. And when you are traveling one of the most basic needs is drink. But why settle for mediocre drink while traveling? The Tasa water bottle is durable, it is designed for travel and can handle the rough encounters inherent in travel. Also Tasa keeps the hot coffee hot and the cold beverages cold. It’s available in personal sizes and also in family sizes for when you want to share the gift of refreshment. Thoughts?
  4. Instead of cutting the tabs on your console, just get a SNES game genie for like $10 and cut the tabs on it. That’s how I play SFC games
  5. The transporters are actually replicators. They just incinerate the original and create an exact copy at the destination. They just won’t admit it because, ya know, PETA
  6. I’ve thought about this before. I agree once the games leave their region, the chances of them returning to their region is less. I think the free market knowingly or unknowingly prices this in. You used to be able to import Famicom games for dirt cheap. Japanese sellers have known that people outside of Japan were interested in buying their stuff for a long time, but only recently started inflating prices on stuff for online sales. Supply on certain games has probably been running short so they have to account for that in their pricing. In a market like Japan, second hand games have always been cheap because the sellers could always depend on low margin high volume sales. People would basically play the games and then trade them back in. If a game was bought and traded back in 5 times over the course of a year at low margin, that’s just as good as selling it once for high margin. However with international buyers pulling the supply out of Japan, the domestic market has less stock to circulate within their country and hence there will be less frequency of trade ins in Japan. This has caused the prices overall to increase, but I think Japanese sellers are also selling at an additional premium for exporting games since it will essentially be pulled out of circulation once it is exported
  7. @fcgamer do you think you may be experiencing some feelings of cognitive dissonance. Sometimes I feel that there is so much I’m interested in collecting, that I hope the next gen consoles will have no physical media. Then I would have no obligation to collect for them (hence would not even play any new gen games either), giving my quest as a collector an attainable end goal. Being a person who is interested in collecting Famicom knockoffs, I wonder if you hate these new knockoffs because at some point in the future you may have some inclination towards collecting them, but maybe you don’t want to do that knowing how crappy they are?
  8. I hear what your saying, US military might can be excessive and even unfair at some times. But someone has to be in charge and the moment US steps down, someone else will step up and take our place as the dominant player. I dont intend this as praising the US, but honestly can’t think of any other country that I’d trust to fill that void more than the current US superpower.
  9. I’ve seen Maru’s Mission at retro stores in the US a bunch although it is uncommon. However, I have never seen the box before until this thread
  10. Hasn’t XX been available on PS4 via limited Run for some time now?
  11. Just saw a GBA repro of Castlevania double pack in the retro game store for sale for $120. This is a store that normally catches these things, I was surprised this slipped by them. The guy at the store was quite embarrassed when I pointed it out to him.
  12. I kinda feel the way you feel about repros, although I’m leaning more for them than against them. On the one hand, I don’t like 1:1 copies that are not distinguishable from the real thing. I think this is very destructive to the hobby. I think a reasonable compromise of a solution is that repros should always have either a different label design than the original or if they use original looking labels then they should have a different colored shell. To me, officially licensed repros are awesome and serve as a suitable alternative to authentic originals. I no longer feel the need to track down an original Metal storm or Holy Diver because I have the official repro licensed by Irem. For super expensive games like Panic Restaurant, Samson or Flinstones 2, I wouldn’t mind a non-1:1 repro. Although I’m not in a rush to get them as there are other authentic games that have higher priority. Maybe while getting these repros is on the backburner, they’ll actually release a licensed repro version of those games.
  13. 3 more days until disclosure! I’m in a Virginia Beach visiting my parents. Can’t believe they are saying that Virginia Beach has been getting consistent sitings on a daily basis for the past x number of years. I grew up here and haven’t seen anything strange in the skies my whole life aside from the one siting I mentioned earlier in this thread
  14. I wouldn’t mind having reproductions for some games. The problem for me is that reproductions are at the bottom of my list of priorities. Why would I spend money on a fake reproduction game when there are still so many authentic games within reach on my to-get list? The Authentic games aren’t exactly getting cheaper as time goes on, meanwhile the reproductions will always be readily available. So I have not really spent any money on reproductions.
  15. Don’t see why it wouldn’t support supergrafx being FPGA and all. Even if not on day one they could always program in support
  16. Looks pretty awesome. Super SD system was good enough for me, this is better in every way
  17. Girl kinda resembles the pirate girl from Garou: Mark of the Wolves Edit: ok the S is from Mark of the Wolves! I’d wager a non-gambling bet that the new FPGA console is a Neo Geo
  18. Big letter “S” in the lower left corner.. Maybe a fighting game?
  19. Public service announcement: Terraonion just announced that they will announce the new FPGA device tomorrow. They also included this image in the email. I can’t make out the background image, but I wonder if it provides a clue to what system it will be
  20. Electricity. I was reading that Taiwan is having some power outages right now.
  21. @OptOutYou guys still have power?
