9/10. I love Elder Scrolls. Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion were all pretty different games, and Skyrim to me kind of felt like Oblivion Plus. It greatly improved the combat in the franchise, but the quests and exploration aren't much different from what we've seen before. It's not my preferred TES game. I think these games need less guided direction and fewer filler quests and dungeons, but I get part of the mass appeal is being able to sink 300 hours into one single player game. Being able to ignore what you don't want to do and just do whatever makes it hard to not have fun though.

Except for the filler dungeons, like DefaultGen mentioned, it's an almost perfect title for me. There are some minor niggles, but the uninspired dungeons are a setback. Everything else is pure immersion and mood. Just love it, 9/10.

At this point I'm sick of the game. I've put so many hours into it, bought it on several platforms, loved the hell out of it, yet somehow never beat it. I'll give it a 9/10 just simply for how big the world is and how long it kept me busy but I don't know if I'll ever want to touch it again.

I've come close to buying this game once or twice, but I've never taken the plunge as I am aware it's a huge investment of time to get into it.

I assume that when I finally get the time, I will probably enjoy it a lot.

Would people recommend the Switch version, is that a good version to go with?

It's low on myranking of Elder Scrolls main series games:

1. Daggerfall

2. Morrowind

3. Oblivion

4. Skyrim

5. Arena

I could even make the case that Arena is better, but I give Skyrim a slight edge.

So I rank it " Meh. There's plenty of better alternatives to this" which is 4/10.

I played the opening scene, wasn't a fan of the first person action, and moved on to other things. I just wasn't ready to invest the kind of time to get into it since it wasn't grabbing me right away. Still on my bucket list, though.

FYI you can play 3rd person.

I'm really curious, did you play Arena and Daggerfall back when they released? Because I find those very difficult to play these days, especially Arena. If the really old school feel is what you enjoy, more power to you. Morrowind is my #1, I feel it has the best of both worlds.

Huh. Maybe ill give it a shot sooner than later!

In my opinion the 3rd person perspective of that game didn't have a lot of thought put into it and it doesn't come off as strong as it should. I was never a fan of first person games, but this one executes first person very well, so well that I don't even notice.

Skyrim is one of my favorite games, and it helped me deal with a very tough time when my father was slowly dying of cancer, and then it helped me deal with his death. I would go into the game and get lost for a few hours and it gave me something else to focus on.

Yes, I played both at release. I played a LOT of Daggerfall and still revisit it to this day. The Dagerfall world is huge, and the freedom of what you are able to do is far greater than any other TES game.
