Im not a huge music guy, even though it is a good aspect of gaming, I tend to go for playability. Regardless, thanks again for hosting this, it is pretty fun. If i see it though, i will prolly attempt another run depending on the categories. Sonic Mania is absolutely amazing. It combines the best aspects of all the previous Sonic games, and ditches most of the missteps those games made, and that's because the game was largely made by a group of fans who are super passionate about the series, so they knew precisely what makes a good Sonic game. Everything about it is spectacular. The graphics, the gameplay, the level design, the music! Tee Lopes is the one who composed the music for Sonic Mania, and just from doing that game alone, he's become one of my favorite VGM composers. I dunno if you've played Sonic Mania before or not, but if you haven't, then you should absolutely play it if you even slightly enjoy the classic Sonic games. It's the absolute height of the entire series in my opinion, and it's cheap too, only $20 or $30. Worth every penny. I've seen a couple people who were disinterested in the game due to it being digital, but first of all that's been rectified now thanks to Sonic Mania Plus and secondly, honestly even if it was still digital only, I would still advise anyone who has even a slightly enjoyment of the series to just look past the digital nature of it and just make an exception for this one game. Or hell, even if you don't enjoy the classic Sonic games all too much, maybe still give it a shot. I've seen some people love Mania who didn't really like the other classic Sonic games. I suppose the diversity of the covers in my library isn't that big (in terms of musical stylings and source games). Sumez | 2,961 Posted November 2, 2020 Share Posted November 2, 2020 A few category ideas for next round: Modern retro game: As in a recent non-homebrew game that emulates old-school graphics or other aspects you relate to older games, Shovel Knight, Blossom Tales, Maldita Castilla, etc.Happy plucky music: Or "chirpy" stuff, you know like colorful candy themed wackyland stages or whatever, not sure about the best word for itIce area: Could double for a christmas theme, but anything that sounds cold goesFlying over the land: Airship themes, etc.Homebrew: Music from any homebrew games (in this context - modern games for older hardware)Final stage: Music from a final stage that sounds like this is the god damn final stage! Perfect to go before the final boss category.
