Finally dumb luck on mercari the row of bootlegs on the bottom were just 25.  It was not the multis I cared about, and the pocket monsters with GAME AMY?? on that plastic was a curiosity to me and it is japanese Pocket Monsters Aoi (blue) version, had no battery so I put one in it(has a coin sell bracket) and it worked.

What got me was Metal Slug for GB/C, I knew what this was, a rare SINTAX release and these online are toxic outside of the region they came from going for 100+ easily so this was basically stolen. 😄  It's a fantastic game, sadly I couldn't get it to post at first, so I fluxed and reflowed the chips/components and it came right back to life thankfully.

Metal Slug (Yuenan Zhanyi 2001) is typical higher end quality jank from Taiwan/etc area.  It is a little stiff in small ways, but the game is thoughtfully pretty well designed and is quite fun which surprised me.  It's like when I wished Metal Slug was on GBC in the day, looks and sounds much like a NGPC game which I think they lifted some from.

For the technical minded I have placed images of the front and back of the PCB if anyone is curious, you don't usually see these carts and perhaps less so pictures of the guts.  Also a really really weird curiosity is that white sticker.  It's Japanese, and says: Bomber Powerful 2 - Control B - Sankyo, Co Ltd.   Go figure?  I figured @Ankos and @fcgamer would appreciate this as much.

Game Amy shells are neat. They were known to be used for some official Vast Fame releases (though not the original ones in Taiwan)

As for the Metal Slug one, I think that might just be a BBD board that Sintax had their label slapped over. Essentially, a Taiwanese company Gamtec (三協, or Sankyo if you read it like Japanese text) created tools to develop Gameboy games, which were used by a company called BBD (who was a company in Mainland China), and then Sintax came in an bought out BBD to create their Mainland China branch. Due to this, some early Sintax releases are just BBD boards they reused.  I'm not 100% certain that is a BBD board though. I'm not that good at recognizing these sorts of things, and definitely don't have board types memorized, but I do know that sometimes happened with early Sintax carts

Wow created an epic derail here into some really slick GAME AMY/BBD/Sintax gems of sorts.  I kind of wish i could just make a new post, then have these lifted in there as I think this could be a valued resource for screwball overseas releases like this.

Seems I had all the luck with the metal slug wannabe and pocket monsters aoi game amy shell.

I have three or four label variants of this game, plus one title variant.

Is the title variant Rockman 99? That is the game's header name, so it has been sort of suspected that it was the game's name at one point, though I don't know if it was actually used for a release. Or were you referring to Rockman X4, the color reprint?

Edit: Oh. Someone managed to type up my question and get a response in the time it took me to ask it. Never mind

That's neat. It's sort of interesting to see a later release's name overshadow the original. That sort of happened with Pokemon Gold 2 mostly being known as Pokemon Adventure. Though at least with Rockman 8 the name change is still by the same publisher

Wow this is all incredible, and incredibly off topic.

@spacepup could you, gloves, someone copy my finds post that had the Sintax metal slug/game amy pokemn cart and comments into another thread and then lift these bootleg gameboy games posts into it since you have the access?

I'd love to continue this growing as it has legs it appears now and it won't survive or work well in here.

Thanks.

Whats the 3d printed stuff?

I realized I never replied to this.  Those are couplers for 2600 and Intellivision controllers.  There are three for the latter as there is one for the Inty I, Inty II and the Inty Flashback.

I mentioned a couple months ago that I've been taking a break from collecting physical games since I've almost run out of space in my game room. I've been thinking about turning another room in my house into a game room. Not sure when I'll get around to doing that.

But I did some travelling and visited a huge game store that has just about everything video game collectors would want. Retro and modern games, consoles and handhelds, new and used, Arcade games, store displays, Kiosks, merch, Japanese imports, posters, Wata graded games, and an area where customers can play games. It's all there.

I already have plans to go back. Thankfully I already have 200+ games for my GameCube(s), including the majority of what I saw at this store.

After looking around for almost an hour, I decided to buy Crash Bandicoot 2. It's nice to have this game again. I originally got the game in 1997, and still have the shirt that came with it. This copy appears to be in pretty good shape. Sure it's a Greatest Hits copy and not one of the earlier copies with the holgraphic cover. But the game is one of my favorite PS1 games, this copy is in excellent shape, and cost $30 Canadian, so I can't really complain. Since I didn't have to pay shipping, I think I saved $20 or $30.

I bought a physical copy of Pac-Man Museum+ last summer. I read that there were some "bonus figures" that people could get if they bought the game within the first month of its release. I thought it was only available to those who downloaded it, but read that some who bought physical copies received codes. I bought the game less than a month after it was released and didn't receive any codes, so for a little while there I couldn't get these Figures. They've since been made available as paid DLC (kind of figured they would do that eventually), so I paid. Now I have a complete set.

I also decided to go back to Chuck E. Cheese (it had been a few months). I got some of their Spring/Rainbow Cotton Candy. In addition to a stuffed crust pizza, I also ate some of their Rainbow Dippin' Dots Ice Cream. And I got a collector's cup (I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to one of these cups).

This was an impulse buy that I already regret, but it is actually pretty cool.  As you can tell from my avatar, I'm a Ninja Gaiden nut.  Saw this and thought I had to have it.  Wish I had just jerked off or slept on it or something because it seems ridiculous now lol.

I felt that way around 9mo ago more or less, price was higher than I felt right at all about and still don't, but I dropped $200 ($100 my money, $100 in sold off goods) to get rescue rangers 2 locally out of an antique mall.  Only had seen it like 3x in the last 15~years and that was the lowest too.  I feel bad making the purchase, but pleased it is there.
