  1. I just played rescue Rangers 2 with my brother a few weeks back, whilst he was visiting. If you ask either of us, we will both swear up and down that the game is lack luster and sucks, yet we always enjoy it more than we think we should, when we actually sit down and play it. We've come to the recognition that at least for us (and I'd suspect the same for many others), we all had and loved the original rescue Rangers game. Hardly anyone had or knew about the sequel back in the day, and it has large shoes to fill. So although it's a fun title, when viewed in a bubble, it ultimately gets compared to other games such as the original rescue rangers and earlier Capcom games, thus making it not feel as good, despite being fun in and of itself.
  2. Hi everyone, thanks for visiting fcgamer's Shop of Strange and Wonderful Things! First a few notes. rules, and thoughts: 1. If you are overly condition sensitive, please ask for more pictures or request more information before purchasing. Most of the people that I know that collect these types of obscurities are not condition sensitive, myself included, as the items are truly rare and if you want to find a 100% mint one, you might be waiting a lifetime or more. Therefore if I see something truly terrible I'll mention it, but I won't detail every little scuff. That's what the pictures are for. I've never had issues with people getting upset or disappointed with my items, but if you truly only want gem mint, for example, then please ask for more pictures so that we are all on the same page 2. Everything ships from Taiwan, as that's where I live. 3. Shipping from Taiwan to abroad is cheap. For smaller items, we are talking around $5 - $10. For reference, generally shipping costs would be on par with what you'd pay domestically. 4. Due to Taiwan not being recognized around the world as its own country, sometimes the tracking codes won't update properly. This is generally when being shipped to the States. 5. Due to the coronavirus, I cannot ship items to about 112 countries, due to there being a lack of air links. Shipping to the United States, England, Japan, and Canada is fine, but sadly most of Europe is out at the moment. 6. Because of number 5, if you are from a country that I cannot ship to currently, we can discuss and work together to find a suitable alternative. 7. Taiwan currently only has 99 coronavirus active cases, with 324 people having recovered, and six dying, for a total of 429 cases total over the course of the pandemic. Therefore, you can feel confident and safe when purchasing from me, any risk will be the same as ordering anything at the moment in your own country, despite it being international. 8. Prices are not set in stone. For obscure items like this, it's hard to set a price, so please feel free to make offers on items if you don't like my price. 9. The more you buy, the more you save! I always offer discounts to people that buy numerous items. Tea-Related Items: Peeing Tea Mates - $20 per piece The figures displayed above are peeing tea mates. You prepare these guys by soaking them in water and then drying them off. When you prepare your tea, by pouring hot water over top of the figurines, it will cause them to "pee" if the water temperature is hot enough, letting you know that the temperature is correct for brewing tea. The two friends shown above are my own personal buddies, and not for sale; however, if you are interested in something like this, I'll help you to obtain it, and of course give you a choice of styles. Fish: Big Mouth Billy Bass (Taiwan version) - $For Best Offer Here is a Taiwan version Big Mouth Billy Bass. It comes with the box, as well as a manual (in Chinese). Big Mouth Billy Bass has been tested, and works fine. Videos: The Kingdom and the Beauty - $35 VHS tape of the Chinese film The Kingdom and the Beauty. Untested, sold as is. VHS RoboCop Cartoon Set -$100 These are VHS tapes for a RoboCop Cartoon show. Included are tapes 1, 3, and 4. 3 and 4 are still sealed, 1 is opened but looks to be in great condition. From the boxes it looks like the audio is in English, with Chinese subtitles. These are sold untested, as is, I don't have the means of testing them, though two are sealed anyways and condition looks great.
  3. I always was under the impression that Aldi was for limited income folks, this was as a child growing up. We never went there. Then I went to Germany in university to study, of course saw and explored Aldi north and south. When I came back home, I decided to check out the local Aldi. Great stuff, my brother and I'd only stop by about once a year, to load up on German foods for our annual Oktoberfest celebration. Everything tasted great, I think it changed the opinion big Aldi in my folks' minds too.
  4. A lot of the stories I'm seeing here are us as children getting duped by buying a lousy game due to an awesome cover. I'll mix it up a bit. In this day and age, Ive definitely bought some games just due to the artwork alone. If the price is right and it looks quite appealing, I might just grab it, even if Ive no intentions on playing it.
  5. Was just coming in here to mention that as well. It makes it a breeze to identify games searching via the code, though on some games (especially back in the famicom days), there wasn't a whole code necessarily printed on the cart. Bandai was notorious for that
  6. Post it up for grabs on the forums first, or reach out to collectors that might be interested in that stuff, if they don't want it, they might help connect you with someone who does. Living in Taiwan, I've sent packages to every continent aside from Antarctica, and over the summer I sent about $800 worth of goods to Argentina without hesitation. I was selling to people I saw around though, who I felt weren't likely to screw me. Back in the day NA got too big I guess, but I'd reckon that most collectors are going to be a bit more honest and less likely to crap in their swimming pool than the anonymous buying cesspool that is eBay. If you do go the eBay route, I guess follow the advice of the others: video of the item getting packed and going to the post office, video of it working, triple packing materials, insurance out the rear, signature required, etc. Sounds like a huge hassle to me though, honestly.
  7. From my stand point, the situation is as follows: 1. I brought it up somewhat on NA, but the whole sticker seals desirability felt forced. Yes, some collectors cared about it before the hype, but I'd reckon that a lot (most?) didn't. To add some perspective to it, I'd reckon that if we currently asked the VGS group if they prefer Greatest Hits or original most would choose original over GH. With the sticker seals, the prefererence was much much smaller group initially, I think. 2. So we already have a feeling that the whole thing is forced, then we see look under the hood and see the so-called incestal relationship between the companies involved. It makes the whole thing feel even more disingenuous.
  8. @acromite53mite53 I watched a playthrough of the Ducktales Remastered game, since I don't have the hardware it was for. It looks like it stayed true to the original, and looks really fun. It's ironic as my brother and I used to always look at the game in the Nintendo Game Atlas, but never had it as a child, only found it later as a teen at Funcoland. I just spent the night gaming. I played through Huang Di, an amazing unlicensed platformer for the Famicom. I'd place it in my top 100 list.
  9. Grab some of your decent items, list on several places online for 60 or 70% of value. That stuff will fly off fast, money to your account. Then grab another stack of stuff and repeat until you got the money to cover the bill. Last weekend I was gone for a night, and when I returned home the next day, it seemed the cat was straining to urinate. Luckily it was just stress and things resolved themselves, but if not, I definitely would have been grabbing and selling shit at even 50% value to raise funds. In such instances as these, tapes should be taking a backseat to all else
  10. Here's another. Still no thoughts on price?
  11. I'm going to go against the grain here by saying that I like pedigrees, at least somewhat. The concept can make it much easier to legitimise an item / the quality of an item. I've discussed it quite a bit with @OptOut, when describing my finds, so he immediately has an idea if it was pulled quite literally from a dumpster or from a storehouse along the coast. With that being said, I also feel that the whole situation from Dain's final actions with NA, this revelation, etc tarnish this legacy. I'd personally even take a step further and choose VGA over Wata, if I had an option, just due to the whole scenario. It's one thing to move on and to cash out, but the way Dain handled things was horrible, at best, and then when we see such an incestous situation, it just makes me look negatively on the situation even more.
  12. Yeah I am guessing it's the software package too with no way to change it, but when I saw it I was taken aback as I've seen reports of these things on the news quite often, but never "experienced" it until now.
  13. Tonight I had trouble logging in, thus I decided to have my password reset and was also sent this message (please check attachment) Taiwan should be listed as Taiwan (Republic of China) or Taiwan (ROC), not as currently listed as a province of China. Is it possible to get this changed? Although I'm sure most people here don't know a lot about the situation, or possibly don't care about it, I really don't like the rhetoric being used, as it's on-line with the bullying China has been recently doing towards Taiwan. Although China does lay claims to Taiwan, the fact is that Taiwan has been ruled independently since the Chinese civil war, has technically never even been ruled by the People's Republic of China (mainland China), and is a sovereign nation, albeit with very few allies. If we don't want to get political about it, Taiwan has their own region code for Nintendo games, than Hong Kong, China, etc. If the issue were to come down to "taking sides", I think all we'd have to do would be to see how the two Korea's are being referenced, since they both stake claims on the other as part of their own land.
  14. You mean super team fighter print runs? In Taiwan, Ive seen both those games numerous times compared to some of the other titles on the list.
  15. I know all those titles, I have original first prints of basically every single one. With these I always felt the same as i did towards the Greg pabich cheetahmen rerelease, better to let sleeping dogs lie, as I personally have zero interest in the reprints of these. But that's just my personal opinion, and I wish no ill will towards anyone doing reprints. About squirrel king, although I guess @pich owns the rights to the name and code, considering it's a literal clone of Rescue Rangers 2, no way it could ever legally get reprinted in the USA without undergoing drastic alterations.
  16. I've been taking stock of my collection, I think I have four or five of these by now. Licensed Famicom for Taiwan region, official product, yet scare since hardly anyone could afford to buy this back in the day. Idea on price?
  17. Not a parent, but a teacher of pre-school children, for what it's worth. I started gaming when I was three, we got our Nintendo when I was four. My folks had some rules and regulations set, to which my brother and I adhered. I guess my thoughts would be, what don't tv games offer that television / movies do? Or to flip it around, I'd reckon at least with games children can develop some coordination and things, which they wouldn't develop just from tv or movies, yet I generally hear about games being limited moreso than television itself. Regarding something like a tablet or iPad, I'd personally be against it at that age, just as I'm against my students having their own smart phones by the second or third level of print school. To me, that sort of technology doesn't just provide screen time, rather it also isolates, whereas at least with a tv set involved, a group of people can still interact together in multiple ways .
  18. I met OptOut from here, it's funny our online and offline personalities are oppisites I also met a former NA user about 12 years ago, and I met the twin brother of another NA user (possibly now a VGS user?) a month or so back. It's always great fun to put a face to the name, and to meet up!
  19. @fsped09 yes just Bubble Bath Babes style, nothing too crazy
  20. I'm really enjoying these pictures, thanks for sharing Corey. I never knew you had almost a complete NTSC set! Will you share some pics of your Pirate and homebrew stuff later?
  21. I'd say they count, though I can certainly understand why people might not want them to count. These look like GBA carts, and can only be used on GBA hardware and whatever other backwards compatible hardware. These aren't hardware, that would be like considering CDs or VHS tapes hardware, so where does it place them? Yup, exactly in the GBA full set.
