  1. Got some other goodies the past few days. First, some hu cards from the notorious Changhua storehouse guy. I still don't have a machine to play these on, but I actually do want to try some of these games out, so maybe I'll treat myself at the end of the month, for Christmas. Then there's some magazines from the same guy. Up next is the Asian version of Front Mission Alternative for PS. Sadly it's missing the back artwork. Then there are two arcade PCBs. I know, I know, I'll cover up those windows shortly. Any idea how I can figure out what games are on these? What about the second one, FC for Famicom? Finally, also grabbed another homebrew, I'll likely play it when my Japanese friend stays over on Wednesday. Got some Famiclone carts too, but I'm still sorting through what I'll keep and what I'll unload.
  2. It's getting late tonight, I'll send the tracking code tomorrow. I'm excited and hope my recipient likes his gift
  3. Also if VGS needs any more mods, I can volunteer my time.
  4. Actually I agree with most of what you wrote above, and I'm sorry for making you boil up. Similarly, I agree with the second round of points that I received, as I was out of line there. With the initial point though, IIRC I called someone a name in the political thread - considering people were accusing me of being racist and other nasty stuff, as well as belittling the experiences I had been discriminated against, I still feel that point was a bit unjust. Now, I've said my piece, I'll leave it at that.
  5. I don't even have to look at the pop reports. That said, this stuff is common AF compared to many other games, the true rares.
  6. If people are calling each other assholes or other bad names, I sure hope they're getting points on their profiles for it.
  7. This year my folks sent my Christmas presents around Halloween, they were tired of my gifts not arriving until after Christmas. I'm so used to it though, I'm not bothered at all when it comes to waiting for parcels, this or others.
  8. For me, Mondays are always a drag. I work until 6, usually get home about 7. And I generally feel exhausted. Tuesdays suck. I hate the classes I need to teach, then I teach an online class until 9:30 pm. That class is fun, just adults, but still it's something I need to think about, which ties me down. Therefore by Wednesday I'm on easy street. No extra classes, finish work at 4:30. Thursdays are busy, but they're fun. I always go out to dinner that evening for pizza, then record a YouTube video with a friend for our channel. Friday is great as well, head directly home, often I go out for dinner with a lesbian friend of mine, for hot pot, Japanese BBQ, etc. Sometimes she'll bring a mutual guy along that we know, an older Japanese guy, then we generally get drinks and the night gets crazy. Saturdays are great, sleep in, relax, and work on my projects. Sundays, a continuation of Saturday, but much more relaxed. Sow how about everyone here, which days do you like?
  9. My friend was going to chat with someone at 9 pm, though my friend and I were doing business beforehand, and would do business afterwards (maybe resume at 10). We live two minutes away, but I figured I'd just play on my phone at his whilst he made his call. Suddenly, the Mexican food we ate earlier felt like it was gonna go right through me. I told him straight, either I left at that moment for mine, or I would have to bomb his. Lol. Awkward to be so frank, but over here if it's a restaurant you've never eaten at before, you're taking a risk, lol.
  10. This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I suspect it's closer to the truth of what the plebs were gaming on, back in the day (very old article, sorry for any mistakes or poor writing. I'm actually dealing with a middle eastern customer now, I'll ask him about it if I get the chance) https://fcgamer.wordpress.com/2014/11/22/famicom-in-the-middle-east/ Whether Nintendo released official stuff or not I think is irrelevant; this is the sort of stuff that actual people used. The Majid translation is super popular, Ive had dozens of people from the region wanting to buy that multicart from me over the years. Then there's the fact that a Taiwanense company actually translated a game into Arabic...a first on Nintendo, aside from the Captain Tsubasa translation and the educational carts. Thing is, even if they did have their own official releases, it's likely most people weren't playing on those. In the past few years an official polish region was discovered, I showed several Polish collector friends, they all were clueless about it and thought it was fake. It'll likely be a similar situation here. Edit: so that would make the games extremely rare, but also historically insignificant imo.
  11. So you are saying the agenda of the others is to shut down the grading houses to bring prices down to what they were 20 years ago, do I understand correctly?
  12. Bois, still waiting to be enlightened. I'm not even one of the "bad guys" against this sort of crap, too busy for that nonsense. Please please I'm waiting to hear some words...
  13. Please enlighten me, oh wise one, what agenda might that be? I'm asking a serious question here, ...
  14. These games aren't rare. Perhaps the condition they're in is rare, but the games themselves aren't.
  15. As much as I find these kinds of discussions entertaining, and as much as I feel that there is a TON of greed in this hobby, I believe that Tom is genuinely a nice guy. Back in the NA days he had messaged me randomly and then sent my brother a slabbed Mega Man action figure. While I don't remember much of the deets at all anymore, I do remember that it was a completely random thing, something I'll never forget. So once again, thanks Tom, and I'm sorry to hear about your recent losses.
  16. I don't think you'll necessarily get the answer to the question of when video games became collectable, though it'll still be an interesting poll. Games became collectable to me around 1997, as a Funcoland moved in locally. Cheap games = the ability to collect. Around the same time, we got the internet, where a few hobbyists had set up NES related websites, further promoting the idea of collecting. There was never a period where I stopped playing NES, The older I got, the more collecting went to the forefront, I mean due to time reasons and other obligations / priorities. Atari collecting seemed to be very healthy back then, I guess it was the same, guys in their thirties buying cheap Atari games, similar to what would happen later with NES.
  17. I don't give a shit about sports, to be quite frank about it, so any risk is too much risk imo. We don't even have the regular postal service straightened out, to even be able to send to places like England, imho that should be a much larger priority.
  18. That's really not the point, and besides, should we really be granting exceptions to the rules based solely on the perceived health of a particular class of people? It's just a matter of the rich and famous being granted special privileges, while everyone else is supposed to abide by strict rules. I'd reckon that's a large contributing factor towards folks being fed up with the pandemic and the regulations put in place.
  19. And another fun one, poor convenience store clerk was murdered over a f'ing mask https://focustaiwan.tw/society/202111210009
  20. Well this is the big problem that I see: https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/4351475 Normal (non-Taiwanese) people can't enter Taiwan right now, but they're letting in athletes to compete in marathons. Seriously, fuck them, covid-19 isn't a virus that only affects the plebs.
  21. Grabbed more stuff over the past week, sadly none of it is game related though. Grabbed a table and chairs out of the garbage last Sunday or Monday, the breakfast shop next to me has been closed for a long time initially because of covid-19, it's a shame as the owners were really nice people. A few weeks back I saw work being done around the shop, a new BBQ and beer joint is opening up in a few weeks, I'm definitely excited. Out with the old furniture, in with the new, and as I needed a new kitchen table, this one went up to mine, hahaha. Then there was this case, from the same place. Sadly there's no glass piece for the front, but I figured I'll find some use for it at mine. I'm in the process of cleaning it now, also spray painted it red, planning to then possibly do other paint work to it later. Then grabbed some other things at the junk shop tonight. The first appears to be an original, I already have a spot in mind to hang it. The next two pictures I'm going to hang in the bed room, I think. I just love the look of them. The last one seems to be a print that was sold up in Taipei. Not sure where I'll put it yet, yeah I went a bit nuts tonight hahaha.
