  1. Totally agree with you, I'll take stages over bosses any day. I like my bosses to be mediocre in difficulty, not something I can sloppily beat, but if it's too difficult and hinders progress after a couple of tries, it's not for me.
  2. RIP. She lived a long and hopefully good life though.
  3. Let's all read the short story collection I wrote, Stevetown, Taichung. I'll even do a google meets sess after where we can discuss it in detail.
  4. Well my final moments went out like a lion, but it's 2022 here too, almost 1 am. Time for some self reflection, and then action, it's a brand new year.
  5. You say a game is just a CIB if it's been opened, whereas I view items as whether they actually are new or not, and condition plays no role in that.
  6. I'll have to see what those dimensions are. Thanks for the feedback!
  7. Oh I wouldn't necessarily claim them to be "brand new", that would be straight out of the fire so-to-speak. I am the last person to care about prices and values, we all know that too. I'm just stating that new has nothing to do with being touched by human hands or not, same with being opened in the case of what we are discussing here. This is a misconception that needs to end. It has nothing to do with being respectful to buyers / sellers or not, either.
  8. Well let's take a look at things in a logical manner. You mention things being touched or not as part of being new: "i'm not trying to make up definitions. just said that if i can't prove it hasn't been touched/used, i can't consider it new." Whether something is touched or not is irrelevant to whether something is new or not. If you go to a bookstore and purchase a book, they are being sold as new. Obviously, the books have all been touched by human hands, and similarly, it is more than likely that at some point a potential buyer had thumbed through the book, perhaps even reading a bit, before setting it back on the shelf, deciding not to make the purchase. I just bought a new book tonight, and surely the scenario outlined above quite possibly occurred. Furthermore, for games and items that were not shrinkwrapped, the outer boxes would all have been touched by human hands. Japanese games, console boxes, etc. Why do they get a pass for retaining the state of "new", if touched, yet a game cartridge doesn't? Can't be making exceptions willy-nilly, right? While I do understand the points you are trying to make, the idea that something being new equates to something being mint is bollocks. New items are generally in better condition than old items, due to new items often having been in existence for less time, therefore less chance for deterioration, yet it isn't a given and shouldn't be taken or considered as one.
  9. Again, sorry about being a bit over-the-top in my earlier post. It wasn't necessary on my part, so I won't try to justify it. That being said, I think it's a bit disappointing in your original post where you mentioned the following: "box is opened, trust is gone." Living in Asia yourself, you've surely bought tons of new old stock from shops. So have I. Similarly, as I mentioned in a different post, items can be new and get damaged in shipping, be new and damaged at the factory, etc. Condition doesn't have anything to do with whether an item is new or not; @FenrirZero nails it in his post, with which I fully agree. #NewDoesNotEquateToCondition
  10. Think I'm gonna go by publisher, some games don't have release years available.
  11. Sorry for being a bit antagonist with that post, @Tyree_Cooper . I just get frustrated sometimes, it seems like these questions always come up. To demonstrate where I am coming from with the concept of "new" : If you order a new book off of Amazon, and it arrives in the mail damaged, it's still new. Or if I make NES carts for a new game, yet reuse cart shells and boards, would the games count as new or used? If they are to be considered used, then it would be impossible for any if that new game to exist in new condition, and that surely doesn't seem correct.
  12. Edit: That was a bit overly antagonist and unfriendly, I'm sorry for that.
  13. Rarity does not equal value. New does not equal mint. Edit: Sorry, that was incredibly harsh and against the spirit of the site
  14. That's a foolish idiot's way of viewing things; new = unused, period. Prove me wrong by looking up some dictionary definitions and pasting them here. If the game is unsealed to start and just opened to examine contents, it was not used, its new. You buy from shop, its new. Wata and all that bullshit get a hard on over fake shit.
  15. That's funny that you like them, a lot of people I know hate the seaweed, even a Moroccan guy. Actually I like the seaweed too, it's nice to shred and sprinkle on pasta though seaweed chips are the best.
  16. Disagree 1000% . Opened and new are totally different things.
  17. Hey everyone, Due to the tax paypal situation coming up next year, I'm getting out of selling games. I'm putting up most of my stock here, please feel free to make offers on individual items or in bulk, though bulk is of course preferable. I'm not going to go out and list prices for this stuff, my aim is to make a few sales before January 1st. Shoot me offers, and if they seem reasonable, I'll likely accept. Thanks! P.S. If there's interest, I'll throw up the extra famiclones / hardware tomorrow that people can purchase too.
  18. @darkchylde28 had inquired about my Famicom book project in a different thread, and ironically enough, I had just begun to dust off the book from the archives, and I am confident that I'll be able to have the book(s) finished by summer of 2022. I am going to add a poll here, and I also hope that the VGS family will post comments and thoughts on my project, so that I can make the book(s) the best out there. edit: I'm stupid, is there some way I can have a poll and have the thread open to posters both?
  19. We have a lot of talented people on VGS, so I thought we could use this thread to showcase and discuss the various projects we're involved in. I just finished writing a collection of short stories, titled Stevetown Dealings. The stories somewhat highlight some of the societal problems here in Taiwan. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09NRK1HP5/
  20. He don't got shit, I've confirmed it, lol Fcgamer for prez!!!!
  21. I opened up my Secret Santa gift on Christmas Eve, I was talking to my brother and he "watched". Saturday was Christmas and was also band practice, haha, and Sunday for Boxing Day I had lunch with an amazing friend Overall, the past few months have been hectic yet at the same time, nothing short of amazing. And my secret santa is amazing too, he didn't reveal himself to me on the handwritten card, but I know who he is, @Scrobins , love you bro, thanks so much for your generosity and thoughtfulness. My VGS lists are insane, an eclectic mix of randomness, as @Scrobins and @FireHazard51 can attest. As I mainly collect imports (from an American standpoint), I always try to offer a wide variety of items, to make it easier for my SS. @Scrobins nailed it! Starting off is a copy of Crusin USA on N64. This was the second N64 game that my brother and I got, back in the day. Any time we went on vacation, the hotels we'd stay in would usually have a Crusin USA arcade machine. We rarely did arcades, growing up in the country, but on these occasions a few nights we'd get to have a few races, and our dad would even join in. He casually gamed and had some sort of Tank single game back in the Atari days, but it was very very very casual. Our Crusin USA is back home with my brother, so I'm excited to have a copy here in Taiwan to play. I also received Marusa No Onna on the Famicom. I love the art work on this one, so simple yet so artsy. I'm gonna give it a go this week The package wouldn't be complete without a few homebrew offerings, I mean this is @Scrobins the legendary man himself There's a flash cart with a homebrew Famicom game, RC2 Rally built in, and there is also a 72 pin NES homebrew game, Alter Ego. I'm excited to try these both, bit at the same time, I'm scared, as now I *know* I'm going to jump down the rabbit hole of NES homebrews.* Finally, the parcel was completed with some coffee from "Copper Cow Coffee" and some candy from Ritchie (Milky Mints). I'm super stoked for both of these, and am gonna do some brief research before consuming, just so I know more about it. My kids will be happy when Teacher Dave is drinking this coffee, I think, good coffee makes me giddy, and then my students are also super happy. Thanks so much @Scrobins for everything. This is truly amazing, and I also really appreciate that you were willing to send abroad, as shipping from the States to anywhere abroad is extortion. Merry Christmas Dave, aka that asshole fcgamer edit: @Dr. Morbis Here's some more pictures of me you can save for your fcgamer shrine
  22. Hershey's is quite near where I grew up. I didn't personally play them in football, but I remember when my high school did, and I remember competing against those guys whilst running track. We'd always enjoy driving through the town as a child, the chocolate scent was definitely in the air. And then there were the rumours about the secret tester rooms after the Hershey chocolate ride, apparently it was all actually true, we realized that later thanks to the internet. No idea about Hershey's chocolate being organic though.. P.S. An English friend of mine (not @OptOut , thank the Lord) quite likes Hershey's chocolate, which is surprising as a lot of Europeans seem to hate it.
