  1. I try to do it in one try, but I can’t always do it. Sometimes I can’t get around with the Items and they run out. If that happens and I run out of bombs too, then I die and go back. It’s not that hard to grind for more ammo. If I need an E tank I use it. Why not? That’s what they’re for. It’s not like I need them anywhere else. Maybe one towards the end of the boss rush.
  2. I don’t think anybody likes them much. They were cash grabs then and they kind of suck. I agree with “moderately entertaining”. They’re a precursor to gamefaqs and an interesting artifact of the time. Correction to above, I had #3, not #2 - thanks for the picture @mbd39. I also had the TMNT quiz book. I wonder if I realized at the time it’s the same author. I don’t think I did. I am pretty sure I got them both from the book fair at school. Do they still have those?
  3. I haven’t had frozen pizza in a while but the last I got was Reggio’s. Good size for a single lunch, and best cheap junk out of what the grocery store near work had. Oh, Totino’s pizza rolls. I snacked on those too much in freshman year of college and grew to find them tasteless and horrible.
  4. Yes. It kind of tastes like nothing, and the texture is unyielding and chewy. I think it’s a fine descriptor for cheap bad pizza. I got a gyro puff last winter and it tasted like warm.
  5. This was about 16 years ago. Triple CRT video projector. Maybe 3’ x 2’ x 8”, iirc. Probably weighed 150 pounds. It was padded with 2-3” styro all around, but UPS still broke it. I had it shipped to work, which was a tiny shop. I had this massive thing on the floor for weeks trying to deal with it. Pain in the ass to get UPS attention about it. They said it wasn’t their fault. Because it was heavy. An investigator came to look, and when I showed him the packaging he admitted it should have been sufficient. Can’t remember how much if any of my money I got back though.
  6. Wow, you’re not kidding! Well, I keep all of the ingredients for that one, standard. If you should ever find yourself in Chicago and want to drop by, I’ll make you a good one. I know it’s unlikely, but the invitation is there.
  7. or wikipedia. Title, year, dev, publisher, region, genre. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Game_Gear_games
  8. If you fall asleep in the middle of Mario 3, it will be where you left off when you wake up
  9. Ohh... now some things make a lot of sense. Your have a distinctive manner. I didn’t recognize you in the other thread but now, I feel like “of course” it’s you. What in the world — ? I wish I had seen these events but I don’t think I did. That all sounds very strange. I do remember when someone complained about your quantity of news article threads, but nothing further. ~ It is difficult in non-urban areas (I have the impression that describes your environs) to find a good cocktail bartender. I would recommend stocking a home bar. Although it might even be hard to find ingredients. I just visited family in NJ (densely populated state, but it seems not much in the way of actual cities or drinking culture) and my friends had to take me to a store 5 towns over, just to get bitters! The employee seemed proud to inform me that they had TWO kinds Find a nice book to explore with. My favorite right now is The Bartender’s Bible (Gary Regan) but there are many.
  10. You couldn’t duck? The block is supposed to bounce off your head. If it doesn’t register the overlap, ducking and standing again ought to reset the sprite boxes. I know this is a glitch, but that one really surprises me.
  11. Fuck, don’t get me started on rum I’ve been playing with all kinds of new drinks lately. A good recipe book is key.
  12. So you don’t care about the award. Got it. Sorry I offended you with the last bit.
  13. I think you mischaracterize the goal. There is much that can be done to reduce emissions without drastically altering our modern way of life. The problem is that we are doing nearly nothing, and we need to do a lot. As for the point that China is worse than we are, they are simply following our lead. Western nations should consume more responsibly. Curb the demand for mass fast fashion disposable electronics as cheaply as possible, and they will have no reason to smelt their air black.
  14. If I’m reading you right, you think all awards are irrelevant. In that case, does it matter if you agree with a chosen recipient? I don’t care about the movie awards either, so I don’t pay attention nor discuss them. What are you doing here? I don’t understand.
  15. Fuck yeah, dude. Fuck that fucking feather.
  16. It’s SMB3, and no, it doesn’t need a battery. It might make playing the game more compatible with today’s lifestyle, but it would fundamentally change the way it works, and for the worse, IMO. If you can pick it up from the middle any time, not starting out in Grass Land and making your way on, you don’t thoroughly learn the levels as you go on. I liken this game to an album that you listen to over and over again. It grabs you at first but you can’t really know any album without the repetition. You won’t appreciate the banjo or piano riff hidden in the background of a rock song much the first time. If you’re done the first time you pass it, you’ll never catch it. If you cross each world of Mario 3 only once, you’ll never get a white mushroom house, figure out the card games, or tips like jumping through the tornado in 2-2 with a koopa shell and then turn around to kill the sun like a boss. Maybe if levels didn’t lock when you finish them, I can hear you call out. You could play them over and over again and work on that. No, says I. Triggering a white house requires perfection. If you can try over and over with no consequence (such as lost prior progress) then it loses the point. And you could forever return to levels like 1-2 to racks up dozens of extra lives whenever you want. It would utterly upend the balance. SMB3 teases and pushes you, forcing you to move on. You can’t go back, and you can’t stop. It is made for epic all-night runs. It is made for obsession. I appreciate it because of the balance and restriction the way I’ve never appreciated other, later 2D platformers like SMW, NSMB, DKCR, or Rayman Origins. You can one and done levels there, and they push you to replay by putting in dragon coins or collectible letters, but that’s a cheap gimmick. They’re all fine games, but not ones that I want to play through a dozen more times in my life. I would also vote for Pac-Man.
  17. What adverse effects do you foresee? Then why bring it up? Surely you have some opinion of antifa, or you wouldn’t find this relevant.
  18. Okay so I’m asking because do you think they should stop giving Academy awards? Because how many can name the last 5 winners. Same logic. Sounds like you don’t care if they do or they don’t. Should any awards at all be given?
  19. Nintendo Power #13. SMB3 strategy guide. It covers everything. Every hidden block, secret area, every white mushroom house. The sun in 2-2 is a piece of cake if you read this. Complete guide to the best NES game ever. How can you beat that? It was also my only hint book, so I may be just a little bit biased. But god damn if it’s not a fantastic guide. (I take that back. I also had Jeff Rovin #2. So that’s a strong contender. ) This book is three years older than GunNac, so no.
  20. Hmm, why the Hong Kong protesters and not the other nominees? I can’t imagine... https://www.ibtimes.com/donald-trump-jr-sides-hong-kong-protesters-they-should-be-time-2019-person-year-2884125 So, you think that the entities capable of addressing the problem should do so, but not until it gets worse? Can you name the last 5 Best Picture Academy Award winners? I would look forward to seeing your answer in another year depending on who wins. Say, if they gave it to Donald again.
  21. There were only 150,000 copies of Silent Service made. But nobody wants them, so they just endlessly circulate. Most of them were destroyed by irate children even before the Super Nintendo came out. Only 18 remain. I actually have one of them right now. I just sold a bulk lot and intentionally left it out, because I knew it would make people bid less.
