  1. The funny thing about this picture is that we were doing something similar last night, filling up about 5 different 5 gallon gas cans and one 12 gallon can for our normal usage. I wonder if anyone thought we were ignorant hoarders. I didn't even really think about it at the time, but now I'm going to feel dumb every time we fill up those cans, which is about every 2-3 weeks.
  2. Better late than never, but I finally started a game on my backlog list. I got my new Super Nt hooked up and I started Super Mario RPG. I rented this game back when it first came out, but I was not really familiar with RPGs at that time and I wasn't sure what to make of the game. I only played it that little bit during a single rental and I haven't played it since. Tonight I got to the first star and decided to take a break. I'm enjoying it so far although I don't feel the graphical look to it has aged all that well. Luckily as a big fan of the Paper Mario games, I was more than ready for the special button timing for attacks and defense, so that's been pretty easy to get used to. I have a feeling that I will enjoy the game. Any idea how many hours I should be expecting for a first time play through?
  3. Honestly that's good to hear. I would rather not have to worry about my kids wrecking a super expensive card by playing with it. I'm just glad they have plenty of cards since they are difficult to buy now and I would never pay more then retail for anything like that.
  4. I've been meaning to ask this and I should probably start a new thread, but I'll ask it here for now. I have almost no knowledge about Pokemon related stuff because I never got into it since I was just outside of the age range when it first became popular. My kids are semi into it now, and they have a shit load of Pokemon cards that have been bought in the past year or so. I mean piles of them. Should I be keeping an eye out for valuable stuff they might have? For the record, I'm not talking about taking their cards and flipping them. I consider their cards to belong to them, and that won't change. But should I be on the lookout for valuable cards that we should be protecting? Or is the stuff that they have probably worthless?
  5. I hardly buy anything anymore, and I'm ok with that. I have more than enough to keep me busy. While I'm fortunate enough to be in a position where I don't need to sell my games, I still ask myself if it isn't stupid not to sell right now. Of course I'm not considering selling everything, but maybe the stuff that I really don't need.
  6. I really don't see why it wouldn't count. It was a massive upgrade in technology over the previous console and included all sorts of extra stuff that wasn't completely necessary. The Blue Ray player, the blue tooth connectivity, the memory card readers, the backward compatibility, even the start up music. Everything about it was meant to be luxurious. It was priced accordingly and it almost failed because of it. Lots of cuts had to be made to help bring the price down, most notably the backwards compatibility and memory card readers. In fact, if it wasn't a Sony console, I don't believe it would have survived until the price cuts that it eventually received. It's the only luxury console to be successful, but it certainly wasn't successful right away.
  7. I built tons of models as a kid. Lots of '60s muscle cars and WWII planes. Believe it or not, but I sold most of them a few years ago for a surprising amount of money.
  8. Oh, I wasn't talking about variants. As far as I'm concerned, you only need ONE copy of a game to go for a "full set." Variant collecting is an entirely different aspect of collecting in my opinion. I was only saying that because based on your earlier posts, it came across as you were not going for any LRG releases at all (sorry if I misunderstood). I fully understand looking at games from other publishers. If a game is released by LRG and another publisher, I typically buy whichever one is cheaper (usually the non-LRG copy) because I'm more interested in having the physical game rather then collecting for future value. There are a few exceptions. I own both versions of Accounting + that you pictured above (for the record, both were published by LRG). I bought both because I'm an accountant and I was interested in the game. Anyway, good luck with your search. The library is surprisingly large, but full of fun games.
  9. I'm up for anything, but I wouldn't mind seeing something '90s themed.
  10. So what genre of music is next after we declare Aha the winner?
  11. Obviously everyone should set their collecting goals their own way, but I personally consider the LRG releases are part of the NA set. I mean, they were published by an American company, sold in the US and include an ESRB rating. But at the end of the day, you should buy and collect what you want. Going back and buying LRG releases on the second hand market can add up quick and I can certainly understand why many will choose not to do that. Another thing to think about is whether or not you want VR only games or games that include VR as an option. I mentioned in another thread recently, that the VR labeling has unfortunately not been consistent. For example. Dirt Rally has a VR mode, but it doesn't appear anywhere on the box art (at least my version doesn't include it, maybe a later release does). Just something to keep in mind.
  12. The PS3 was sort of a "luxury console" at launch. It had a shit load of new tech and it was priced accordingly.
  13. I don't have anything for sale at the moment, but I just wanted to say that I'm glad to see you are open to imports as there are a lot of good PAL VR games that haven't been released here. Super Hot is by far my favorite VR game. Check it out if you haven't already. I didn't look at your collection list, but if you are going for a full set, I hope you already have most of the LRG VR releases......
  14. Except that you have to use a GameCube controller, which ruins the experience for me. Yes, they fixed minor issues with the original recordings, but that gets overshadowed by the overall poor quality of the voice work. If you haven't played the original, or if you only played it a few times, this might be easier to ignore, but for anyone who played it as much as I did, it's impossible to ignore. I'm glad you liked Twin Snakes, and obviously you are entitled to your opinion. I just can't agree with it.
  15. Ha. I mentioned early on that we were voting through consoles at a super fast rate. But even then, I didn't realize we were 27 consoles in.
  16. 1 1 1 2 This was actually easier than I thought it would be. Lots of good songs this round, but winners for me were pretty clear. But I can't believe I'm the only one voting for Shattered Dreams. That's one of my favorites from the entire competition.
  17. Great, now I have to change my vote on every single console to a 1.
  18. I personally never felt the US SNES was ugly until I discovered the look of the European and Japanese versions, and that didn't happen until was an adult. I guess ignorance was bliss, but regardless, I still thought it looked good.
  19. I've tried to make a similar argument in the past. A console cannot be fairly rated based just on the amount of shovelware. Otherwise, the Wii U becomes one of the greatest consoles of all time.
  20. I've revisited NA a few times just to see what it looked like and to see what kind of activity remained in what was left of the forum. Other than that, once this site was up and running, I came here and didn't look back. I've never visited NA on accident while trying to get here.
  21. For me, it was mostly GameStop sales. I forget what they marked them down to, but it was cheap enough for me to visit nearly every GS in the area and almost get one of each. They look good in the boxes, so no regrets.
  22. Here are a few more pictures. There are several numbers on the back. I'm not sure which one is the model number, but I think it's XPT300 168HVA. I know it has 16 inputs x 8 outputs. Remember that the front can be deceiving. The front of my model has buttons for 16 outputs, but that was done as a cost saving measure (the front plate could be shared between 16x8 and 16x16). Buttons 9 through 16 do nothing on my model. Make sure you see the connectors on the back before you buy anything to know for sure what you are buying. To answer your other question, yes you can run multiple inputs into separate outputs at the same time, which is why they are referred to as matrix switchers. I only use two outputs: one to my CRT, and one to my HD TV. However, I can run two different consoles to those TVs at the same time. Also, make sure you understand how you will be hooking up audio and video to these types of switchers. The video is pretty straight forward. You will just need some BNC to RCA adapters. However, the audio is much trickier. I can go into that in more detail if you need, but I don't have time for that at the moment.
