  1. I remember the Tim Atwood stuff really well. For whatever reason, I followed that entire thread very closely from day one. I always felt that Tim wasn't as much of a troll as he simply didn't understand typical forum etiquette. I personally never had a problem with him, but I also fully understood why he received the temporary ban when it happened. Of course a lot of people complained that the NA mods were overstepping their bounds, but I fully felt that they waited longer to ban him than they would with most people in that situation. That was one of those threads that continued to entertain for a pretty long period of time.
  2. That's actually what I'm doing with those of mine that are complete, and a lot of my Sega CD games are complete. But of course, several are disc only. I buy disc only, ONLY when the price is right, and I have a decent chance of never seeing the game again in the wild.
  3. Awesome. I really need to go back and finish the first. I made it probably 80% of the way through, but just never got around to finishing it.
  4. I also keep my Sega CD games in blue DVD cases, but mine aren't Wii U cases. They are just a blue case that I found online. They actually match really closely to the Sega CD blue. I also found yellow cases for my CD 32x games.
  5. If you can get your hands on one cheap like I did, it's worth it, otherwise, I wouldn't bother. There are a lot of fun games, but not really worth the current asking prices.
  6. That's a nice set. I've always loved the home console versions of the Paper Mario games (even Super Paper Mario), but I've never played any of the Mario & Luigi games. I've always wanted to, but never got around to it. I wish they weren't on portable devices. That would make it easier for me to play them. I know that I can play Superstar Saga on the GB Player, but that doesn't help for the others.
  7. Caveman Games on NES. I had several friends who had this game, and I always wanted it just because it looked cool at the rental stores. I remembering playing it at their house and not really understanding how to play it properly, but still wanting it. Sure enough, many years later when I started picking up NES games as an adult, it was on my early list to grab. Also, I knew ONE guy that had a 3DO while it was still an active system. He bought it right after the first round of price drops. It seemed awesome at the time. We always played Gex and PO'ed. I eventually got a PS1 instead, but I was super happy when I realized that a slightly better version of PO'ed was available for the PS1. I played the hell out of that game.
  8. The big difference with CD jewel cases was that they were used for other purposes outside of games and since it's impossible to prove that a case hasn't been changed (outside of new/sealed), it doesn't have the same impact as swapping out a PS2 case for a DVD case.
  9. The nice thing about PS1 games was that they did not have a unique case, so the repro case issue doesn't apply. I just buy replacement cases in bulk, usually 50 to 100 at a time and replace only as needed. The only thing that's truly difficult to replace is the insert for PS1 games that came in a double jewel case, but only have one disc. The other side of the case had a piece with a PS1 logo instead of the part that holds the disc in place. I was always surprised that they made that since it was so unique to PlayStation. Fortunately, they are common enough considering all copies of Gran Turismo had one.
  10. SMB 2 has always been my favorite. With that said, I can't think of a single 2D Mario game that I haven't enjoyed. I love them all. But I've never been able to get into any of the 3D Mario titles. Something about it just doesn't work for me.
  11. The 5th episode was the first episode where I didn't care for the side characters. The woman at the repair shop, and the "partner" bounty hunter both annoyed me. Also, I really love the opening and ending music, and I like the added art during the ending sequence.
  12. No kidding. There is no excuse for SMB3 not having a battery save. I remembering keeping my NES on all night long and being afraid that it would break.
  13. They key is that they have to sell everything they make. Unsold copies are bad for any business, but it's a killer for a small company. In a perfect world, they would match the supply to the demand. Since that's nearly impossible, they are better off selling a smaller number of copies and knowing that all will sell, than to make too many have to sit on leftover stock. That doesn't mean LRG always gets the production numbers within a reasonable % of the demand. Night Trap on PS4 was a good example of that. The production run was well below what the demand turned out to be. They could have made a lot more money if they had correctly anticipated the demand. But at the time, they were still too new to take that kind of risk. That's part of the reason why they have been slowly switching over to more pre-orders. I think they will continue to move in this direction, especially once the Vita games are gone.
  14. That will be common for most of the games that were available through pre-order. You won't see it on any of the games that had a specific print runs determined before the games became available on LRG's site.
  15. I've heard a rumor floating around on social media that the final LRG Vita release may be offered free to anyone who has purchased every LRG Vita release up to that point. Has anyone heard anything similar?
  16. Very few games have ended up in the hands of scalpers. This is proven by the small percentage of these games that end up listed on eBay or other market sources. If you don't like the bootlegs, don't buy them. Unless anyone is forced to buy something they don't want, you have nothing to complain about. Quit acting like a child.
  17. Not at all. Why do you ask? (FYI. I did not receive an email notification about being quoted in a post the way I was used to from NA, which is why I didn't notice this post until today.)
  18. I just got caught up last night. I've been enjoying it so far. My only complaint has been with the battle against the AT-ST. It seems like if they could sneak into the camp site and blow up that small building/tent, why couldn't they just sneak up to the AT-ST, which was obviously shut down the the night , and destroy it before they had a chance to start it up? Overall enjoying it. The production value has been good, the acting is great, and the side characters have been interesting. Anyone notice the similarities to this series and your typical modern video game? I found an interesting article on it here: https://www.polygon.com/star-wars/2019/11/25/20978320/the-mandalorian-video-game-comparison-disney-plus-fetch-quest-armor-upgrade
  19. You can complain about artificial scarcity all you want, but without it, none of these games would be available in physical form. Doug and LRG can act like they are providing a service to the community because they ARE providing a service to the community. Their customer service is far greater than most companies their size.
  20. Thanks all. for what it's worth, my lack of recent posting at NA, and the fact that it took so long for me to sign up over here is more related to changes to my personal life that give me less free time to browse forums. The fact that it happened around the same time as NA's demise is purely coincidental. Hopefully, I can eventually get back to being more active here.
  21. I'm here too. Same username from NA. Kind of sad that it's come to this. Hopefully this site can keep up with what NA used to be. I guess time will tell.
