  1. This was my assumption as well. I don't consider these games to be traditional repros since they have permission to print them, but they make them different enough to not confuse them with the original prints. I basically view these types of games as a (less desirable) variant that is easy to tell apart from the original. And I think that's a good thing.
  2. Naw, but luckily I got more than a grand worth of game time out of it.
  3. While I don't condone his actions, considering that I've been looking at mowers that cost around $30k, I at least understand them.
  4. This was the other thing I meant to say. Since I consider "as is" to be a gamble, I also would expect any "as is" item to be heavily discounted. If a seller doesn't want to take the time to test it, they should expect a lot less money.
  5. I've certainly heard about all of these shows, but I've never really watched any of them. I occasionally remember my parents watching Dick Van Dyke and Get Smart and I know my in-laws watch Gilligan's Island. If I turned on the TV and any of these shows was on, I would recognize it immediately, but I can't really vote on any of them. If I was going to pick one of the three shows to watch, it would be Get Smart.
  6. Well, it's important to test things to make sure they work. And it's a good idea to test many games to make sure there aren't any compatibility issues. You also need to test for many hours to make sure long term durability is good.
  7. I don't think there is anything wrong with the game itself. The problem is that everyone expects it to be a standard side scrolling Sonic style game, and it isn't. If they had also released a standard side scrolling Sonic style game along with Knuckles Chaotix, I don't think people would be saying as many bad things about it. It's just frustrating because all they had to do was follow the standard Sonic formula and they probably would have made a game that would have made owing the 32x worth it. This game had the biggest chance to be the killer app for the system, but it just didn't work out. This game would have been way more popular if it had been released on the Genesis.
  8. With that said, I have been looking for a wallet alternative that I like. I just haven't found one yet. To keep my wallet as small as possible, I carry the bare minimum in my wallet at the moment. 2 credit cards 2 charge cards (they offer discounts at two stores I frequent) 2 debit cards 3 forms of ID (Illinois sucks) cash I don't really need to carry 2 credit cards, but I like an extra as a backup. I could probably stop carrying the debit cards to save space. Also, I need to see if I could pay with my charge cards without carrying them. Some stores allow that with proper ID, but I haven't checked with these two stores. So I could potentially carry less, but my wallet is so thin at the moment I don't really need to.
  9. Right rear pocket unless I'm in a crowded area, then I move it to the front right. Sitting on a wallet isn't an issue. Most rear pockets are actually off to the side as you sit. I've had a wallet in my back pocket for over 30 years, and I've net sat on a wallet. I've never understood why some think that's an issue unless you have a George Costanza wallet.
  10. This isn't published by LRG, but it looks like they will sell it on their site as a distributor.
  11. Looking back on my post, I guess I didn't really answer the original question presented for this thread. Personally, I don't consider portable games to be less significant. However, I do consider the portable systems to be less significant because I would only play one in a compromised situation where a home console isn't possible (like in the car or in a hotel room). Because of this I play portable only games much less often and I've probably missed out on great games because of this (I never played Link's Awakening until it hit the Switch). The Switch solves this issue because going forward, there are no more portable only games.
  12. For those complaining about opening the GG carts, look at it this way. It's still better then dealing with a Jaguar cart. The screws that hold the plastic together on a Jaguar cart are underneath the label.
  13. I remember the game as a kid, but I never actually played it. I might give it a try sometime.
  14. Earlier I meant to say that I was thinking the same thing when I had mine apart. The only thing I can think of would be something broken inside like a plastic tab, but that issue would probably go away and not repeat itself after removing and reinstalling the PCB back into the case. As others have said, I would be very interested in getting my hands on the game and trying to replicate what the seller was claiming.
  15. You know what's funny about the PSP, is that it was SUPER CLOSE to being the Switch years before the Switch was a thing. Most of us know that some models had video out. There was also a dock that allowed you to charge the PSP and run the video out cable to a TV (it was meant for watching UMD movies). It also could accept controls from a remote in this state. I'm not sure why they didn't figure out a way to run a PS3 controller to it on the dock. That was the only thing keeping it from being the first Switch.
  16. Welcome. Outside of video games, woodworking and automobile repair are my other two favorite hobbies. I've been considering starting a thread in the "Everything Else" forum about woodworking to gauge interest from others. I've been wondering if there are enough woodworkers among our group to get a good discussion going. Nice to know there is at least one more.
  17. Watch this video if you are still not sure. Pay attention to where the tabs are because if you are putting pressure elsewhere, it might not work. Jump to around the 2 minute mark.
  18. Here is a pic of the super tiny tab. Again, at first it feels like you are stressing the plastic, but once you get your finger nail in there, it will pop off.
  19. I had to go and open a cart to see for myself because it's been so long since I've done this. Once you get the screw out, you just need to slide your finger nail down the side and it will pop off. It does not slide off like a Game Boy cart. There are super tiny tabs that need to be pushed in, and you finger nail or something super thin should be enough to do it.
  20. I've played my share of portable games over the years, but it was always in the car as a kid or in a hotel room at night as an adult. In other words, I've always played portable games in situations where console gaming wasn't possible. I don't really have much interest in playing portable games when I'm at home, and because of that I know I've missed out on a lot of games that I would probably enjoyed otherwise. For example, I've played several of the Paper Mario games and I've enjoyed them all, but I've never played any of the Mario & Luigi games even though I would probably enjoy them. I just don't want to play any longer, story-based games without having it available on the big screen. That's another reason why I'm such a huge fan of the Switch. I had been saying for years before the Switch was announced that all I wanted was ports of the portable games brought to home consoles. There are still several generations of games stuck in the portable world, but at least going forward we don't have to worry about that anymore.
  21. For those who haven't opened the controllers, they are fantastic controllers. Highly recommended for the NES and SNES games on the Switch.
  22. I know you can open some GG carts because I had to do that in order to create a shell for my GG Everdrive. I don't remember which game I used as a donor shell, but I had no issues opening it with a normal security bit.
