  1. The games I'm talking about are basically brand new games. One example is Shantae for Game Boy that LRG just published. The seal on it is pretty ugly. Buying an open one right now isn't really going to save me any money. The thing is, I know I will never play the actual cart because I can just play the ROM on my Everdrive. I don't know. I'll probably just leave it sealed. But I want to open it.
  2. I have several sealed games that I'm considering opening simply because the seal is so ugly, despite being original and mint.
  3. Thanks. They were cheap LEDs that stick on the bottom of each shelf that I bought at Home Depot several years ago. Unfortunately, there are only 4 color options (white, green, red and blue). I actually prefer the blue, but I didn't think it looked good in the pictures. But it looks really good in person if the rest of the room lights are off If I bought a newer set today, it would probably have several more color options.
  4. Even though it's been more than 30 days since it was purchased, they would be wise to still accept returns on unopened items.
  5. If I ever come across an empty case, I always keep it because finding a cart only or disc only game is usually pretty easy. But the other way around is normally pretty difficult. I would return it unless you got a really good deal on it. I have a handful of disc only PS1 games simply because I got them for next to nothing. For now I printed custom inserts so they can sit on a shelf, but it's still my goal to either get lucky and find the art or eventually replace it with a CIB copy. Years ago I cam across a huge assortment of original covers and manuals. Mostly PS2 and PS3, but some GameCube and a few other systems as well. I keep all of them in a binder, and if I ever see some cheap disc only games, I check my binder to see if I can complete the game.
  6. Tomb Raider's tank controls might be tedious and sometimes slow, but they are EXTREMELY tight and accurate. Assuming you've completed the tutorial, you should know how to control the character. If you ever die from falling or missing a jump, it will be your fault. Not the fault of the controls. On the flip side, the controls in Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary are much more fluid and give you much more freedom with the camera. The unfortunate side effect is that you can often die because you pushed the analog stick in one direction, but the character moves in a different direction. The vast majority of in game deaths will be caused by the controls or camera. If I didn't know any better, I would assume that Nintendo programed the camera TLDR: Tomb Raider tank controls are slow and tedious, but they accurate and always do what you ask. Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary controls are faster, but also sloppy and the cause of 99% of the character deaths. Pick your poison.
  7. I ordered some of the console display stands from Rose Colored Gaming a few years ago. Now that they also offer risers, I decided to get a few of those along with a few more display stands for my newer consoles I've bought since my last order. I got everything setup last night. I have a few other portable consoles not pictured here including a Lynx model 1, but this is most of what I have. Non Nintendo consoles. Nintendo consoles.
  8. Another thing I just thought about. You might not need to change anything on the Direct TV remote. Depending on how the soundbar is setup, sometimes adjusting the volume on the TV will automatically adjust the volume on the soundbar. If it's setup this way, just using the volume on the Direct TV remote to adjust TV volume should do the same thing.
  9. It's been years since I programed a Direct TV remote, but if I remember, you first need to program the soundbar into the remote as an aux device. Once you do that, there is a setting somewhere to change the primary volume from the TV to one of the aux devices (something like pushing vol up and the aux button at the same time for 3 seconds.....maybe). Considering how rarely I did that, I always needed the Direct TV remote to accomplish it. I don't know if you have that, but I'm sure it can be found online somewhere. Again, it's all pretty hazy. I haven't had Direct TV since 2011 and I haven't had any cable or satellite service in 7 or 8 years.
  10. I can understand that the controls might be difficult for someone who didn't play it back when it first came out, but for someone who has been playing it since launch, I can say that the controls are extremely tight and precise. Something that can't be said about Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary (two games I also love, but hate the sloppy controls). It's sort of like Mario 64. People who have been playing it since it first came out probably feel that the controls are natural (while still admitting that the might be dated), but for someone like me, it's very difficult to pickup the game for the first time today and not have a lot of difficulty controlling Mario effectively. If I played it enough I would probably get used to it, but honestly, I'm not sure that I want to bother.
  11. Unless I'm missing it, I don't see the right spine pictured at all. I'm assuming that nothing is there.
  12. Considering that a millionaire isn't that big of a deal these days, probably more than you realize, .
  13. This is coming from a person who has never graded anything, and has no plans to at the moment, but is it the lighting, or are VGA cases a little hazier than WATA? Edit: I'm guessing the VGA cases are in bags and the WATA cases aren't.
  14. Sure, but I have a lot more faith in Olympic and Track & Field record accuracy compared to Guinness. I know Usain Bolt's record is legit. I have plenty of doubt about most records recorded by Guinness. They are more interested in records set by interesting people that attract publicity than doing the actual legwork to determine true "world best."
  15. From my experience in recent years, that description seems a bit generous.
  16. I know it's been mentioned, but I'm always amazed at how many problems are fixed by using a different HDMI cable. It seems like these cables are made cheaper and cheaper every year. I also make sure to trash any cable that causes problems so you don't accidentally try to use it again. It's also worth mentioning that not all HDMI cables are capable of using all HDMI features (just like the different versions of USB ). I know the cable came with it, so it should be the right type of cable, but it's still worth saying. Hopefully it's something simple like that. I pretty much just stick with Sony and Samsung equipment, so I can't comment on those other brands that your family members are using. Good luck with the fix.
  17. Definitely an unpopular opinion, but for what it's worth, I agree with it 100%. I personally rank it as Nintendo's worst primary controller.
  18. 1 was extremely difficult, but I have to go with REM. The rest were easy.
  19. 8. I can't get into the new stuff, but I still love the old.
  20. I agree with most of this. Lot's of games that didn't use textures, (or at least didn't use many textures), still look great today. I would add the Crash Bandicoot games to the list of games that still look great today. Unfortunately, games like Tomb Raider really don't look that great today. However, Tomb Raider's gameplay, level design, and sound make up for any downsides in the visuals.
  21. If it were me, I would use the wall anchors to attach the game cart to the wall and enjoy it that way. Why waste space on a shelf when the game comes with all the necessary hardware to hang it on the wall?
  22. I gave Batman Returns another chance a few years ago, and I just don't feel it's a very good movie. It's easy to make fun of Forever and B&R, but I think some people don't want to say bad things about Returns since it's directly related to Batman. It was really difficult for me to sit through the entire thing. Batman isn't perfect, but it still holds up well today.
  23. Despite growing up with this movie, I still prefer the Nolan trilogy. With that said, it's the best Batman film that Nolan wasn't involved with. 7 for me.
