  1. I thought it was during the final boss. I never checked to be sure so maybe I was mistaken.
  2. 1903 Very hard gets real tough at 903, I know that because I got that exact score twice. P.S. Anyone know how to change font size on the score on mobile?
  3. I should hope you’d recognize your own drawing at least! Thank you very much, you did awesome!
  4. I’m not sure who my SS is but I’m very happy with my gifts! All three games are ones I’ve been after, plus I appreciate the candy and love the art! If you see this please let me know who you are. Thanks to @captmorgandrinker for running the show again! You did an excellent job. Merry Christmas everyone!
  5. This was from me actually. I’m glad you like your gifts! Pikmin 2 is one of my favorite games so I’m happy to share it with you. Merry Christmas!
  6. I have two Vaus controllers. One works perfectly. The other one, when the knob is turned all the way, the paddle on-screen does not go all the way to the edge. So there's a gap on one side that I can't cover, which makes playing with it pointless. I've messed with the pot but to no avail. There should be a way to fix that right?
  7. Haha I tied @koifish but was too lazy to post my update cause it was only 1000 points higher. The only way I found to boost my score was to grind enemies during boss battles. It didn't seem interesting enough to bother though. The game itself was fun!
  8. In Battletoads after defeating the first boss, I always run forward and fall into the hole. You die but the perspective switches back before you respawn and so it doesn't count as a death. Plus you get to proceed to the next level with no health for a little bit. If you die too quickly though you will lose a life. I know I've been a victim of double death in other games but I can't remember any offhand.
  9. Beating Amagon sure was a rollercoaster. It went from being straightforward, to tricky, to manageable, to near impossible, to stupidly easy. I don't think I've had a game go quite that way in this project so far. The game itself is a decent game. It feels a little bit dated from when it came out considering some of the high quality titles released around then, but that gave way for the game to surprise me a little bit. It's not a bad game and one I'm glad I got to play. For those following along regularly, I'm planning on skipping next Friday's update. I hope to resume weekly updates for awhile starting on 1/3/2020. Merry Christmas! Review: http://takeontheneslibrary.com/finished/136-amagon/
  10. Ah yes, who could forget the classic game DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED
  11. I just noticed the Conditions for Victory section has not been carried over from NA.
  12. Very good stories so far. The story I'll tell is from Christmas 1996. As much as I would have wanted an N64, I knew they were too expensive for my family to buy and I don't think I even asked for one, despite having talked so much about how cool they were. (I ended up getting mine Christmas 1998.) Getting more SNES games was much more obtainable so that's what I asked for. I was getting into RPGs at the time and I was especially enamored with EarthBound. I was able to play it from a rental but it was hard getting anywhere serious in just a few days. Sometime that fall I was shopping with my mom and I found EarthBound when they were being clearanced for $20. I brought it over to her and she bought it and held it back for Christmas. So I already knew I was getting it. I definitely remember poring over every ounce of coverage of EarthBound in Nintendo Power for weeks leading up until Christmas. The day finally arrives. On Christmas day we open presents at home in the morning and then go over to my grandparents' house for lunch and more presents. I got my EarthBound (thanks Mom!) that morning along with some other games. I got even more games at my grandparents' house. I know I got a second-hand CIB copy of Final Fantasy III I was very excited about. I think in all I ended up with seven SNES games, don't even remember the others. But there was one more game I know I asked for that I didn't see. I was pretty sure I asked for it and my mom passed word to my grandma about buying it. My grandma definitely would have bought it for me, I figured. I didn't want to seem ungrateful for all the good stuff I already got, but I quietly asked my mom about it anyway. She thought for a bit and said yeah, I did mention that to her, let me go ask your grandma. Next thing I know I hear my grandma laughing. Sure enough she bought that game for me, stuffed it in a drawer, and completely forgot about it. She handed me a brand new copy of Donkey Kong Country 3. Chances are I benefited from her forgetting about it. Even with no N64, that was a very good Christmas and those games kept me occupied for a real long time.
  13. I used to beat this boss in two passes, did it that way for a long time. Now I do it in one pass only bombing the required walls. I could probably clear it without taking damage but I don't think I ever have.
  14. 2,617,200 I'll echo Bert, fun game, didn't take very long to figure out.
  15. Just watched the TAS. I was pretty sure I missed blowing on something but nope. I have no idea how @0xDEAFC0DE out executed me by 5000 points, even with glitches.
  16. 263,200 Pretty happy with this score. No glitches, just pure speed. I had a 263,700 run adding my points together between continuing, so it is beatable. Anyway I'm done now. Good luck everyone! Edit: Forgot to mention I lost SIX lives in Hall 20 on this attempt. A complete meltdown that I somehow worked my way around.
  17. I played a little last night casually, reached level 15 or so. Pretty fun! Thinking I might try and beat the game before trying for scores.
  18. I’ll discuss in postmortem definitely. I think one of you guys will beat this score though. Or maybe I’ll try again...
  19. 166,540 Not quite optimal but pretty close.
  20. Cabal is a shoot-em-up, but it's not the kind of shooter that is seen much on the NES. In this game you fire over the shoulder at all sorts of enemies soldiers, as well as pretty much anything standing in front of them, then do a happy dance once the path is cleared. The controls are a bit different and take time to master, but I think it's worth it for all the destruction you get to render. As a bonus, the game wasn't too hard to finish. 21. Nice scores so far! I haven't played since Monday. I think I can get into the 160's so I'll shoot for that, then we'll see.
  22. Yeah, but until they figure out stuff like the Zapper segment in Daydreaming Davey, I'm not interested.
