  1. I think I've 100%'d Odyssey three times now, plus did a coinless challenge run. So yeah I'm definitely an outlier when it comes to this topic.
  2. I'm surprised by this, though maybe I shouldn't be. I bought from JJGames once or twice and sold him several NES lots I've put up for auction, nothing but good things from him as far as I'm concerned. I'm most disappointed personally that he won't be buying game lots from me anymore.
  3. A couple NES games I played a lot back then were Air Fortress and Xexyz.
  4. I complete games fairly often, particularly with retro games. I find the older I get the less interested I am in completing everything in a game on newer games. Even then I'm probably close to 50/50 on whether I go for 100%.
  5. 472,610 Kinda ran out of steam this week, oh well.
  6. Tiny Toon Adventures is a fun platformer that is pleasant to look at and pleasant to play. It is also a game that I somehow missed out on playing as a kid. I watched Tiny Toon Adventures on TV regularly and I had a large collection of NES carts for the time, so it's a mystery why I didn't get to play it back then. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed it this time. Full Review: #138 - Tiny Toon Adventures
  7. It's been a long time since I've done this so I'm far from certain here. I think in Level 99 you need to grab a crystal ball and take it to a door before they disappear. It is supposed to be done with two players but I have done it solo before. That puts you on the path toward the real end boss. I think you have to play two loops of the game to beat it, but I am not sure if that is necessary for completion in this thread.
  8. I got Earthbound new for Christmas that I know my mom paid $20 for. I also have a loose Gun-Nac in my collection that I've had since I was a kid. I have no idea how or where I got it but I'm happy to have it!
  9. If there's one thing I love, it's a good database. Great addition!
  10. That's where I am at the moment. I definitely know the feeling of switching games and not getting back to it. But on this one I think I'm hooked so I'm gonna stick with it for awhile. I could see the game getting repetitive, but I dunno, I think it fits the bill for me right now. There's enough slightly weird stuff going on to keep me going. I like the occasional golf game, and I like the occasional RPG. Having the two of them together like this is hitting that sweet spot, and it's something I don't think I've seen before. (I admit I haven't played any of the Camelot Mario Golf games that have RPG elements, maybe I should.)
  11. Finally got around to buying and playing Golf Story on Switch ... it's super fun so far.
  12. Finally finished Baba is You a few days ago, 100% completion. I guess it's not valid though cause I looked up some solutions and used some hints. Very, very good puzzle game, a real treat!
  13. I've almost beaten the in-game top score and I finally saw the top board for the first time.
  14. One of the biggest scores of my life arrived marked as damaged. Found an eBay NES lot several years ago that had a bunch of games including Flintstones Dino Peak and Kid Klown. First the payment didn't go through right away, which I figured for sure meant that I got backdoored, but I got lucky and got the games shipped to me. When I got the box I could tell that it was too small to actually hold the games properly. The seller folded the flaps down as far as they would go and put tape down, but neglected to cover up the huge hole made in the center that the box flaps did not cover. The opening was just large enough for a cart to have slipped through it, but somehow I managed to get everything in the lot safely. A huge scare from a lazy seller with a happy ending.
  15. I'm taking a logical approach to this question. It's ridiculously simple. Unlicensed NES games = Unlicensed Nintendo Entertainment System games = Nintendo games I don't see how this is disputable?
  16. Mr. Gimmick! Very expensive but such a great game.
  17. I beat Wheel of Fortune early this morning. Next game for me will be Magic of Scherezade.
  18. 867,300 Five levels completed is acceptable. This game is awfully luck heavy.
  19. Snake Rattle N Roll is done! Only took 13 tries, not bad.
  20. I agree with everyone who has said SMB is the best but if not for that game, Kung Fu, though I actually voted for Kung Fu.
  21. The MacVenture games are a popular set of point and click adventure games. There were four games in this "series" and three of them reach the NES. Shadowgate is the first one I played because it was the first one released on NES, despite being the third entry released on the Macintosh. In this game you explore the castle, collect items, solve puzzles, and generally make your way deeper to defeat the final bad guy. This is a well regarded game with great music that I imagine many of you have already played or seen before. To see how I did, check out my review below. 22. I'm thinking 8/10 but it depends on how the last few stages go. I've gotten as far as Stage 9, the ice stage you mentioned. Biggest hurdle right now is performing better in Stage 7 because that level bleeds my lives and continues quickly. Some enemies already have the health regeneration so I'm already used to that.
  23. Beat another 30-35 NES games, like I do every year
  24. I’m working on Snake Rattle n Roll for my blog so that will be my first contribution for this years list. I think I’ll have it beaten in the next few days.
  25. I always think the same thing but then I get into it once I get started. I bought this game specifically for this contest and haven’t tried it out yet, so here’s hoping I get interested!
